As a Lions fan, I don't have any expectations of Smith being the player Hutch was. I'm not sure if anyone can be Hutch but him. But I do think he will be a VERY solid player for us and we really wanted a solid edge rusher. If he does work out for us, next year I think Smith would be a great Robin to Hutch's Batman. As a Lions fan I think this trade was great. He might be a bust, but even if he is we didn't break the bank for him, and the expected player will be great for us because of how much of an upgrade he is at that position.

I really would have rather EDC gone after an edge rusher like Calais Campbell or the like, as we really don't have much of a pass rush atm, but have good corner talent on the team already along with one of the best safeties in football, Kyle Hamilton. As a Ravens fan, the trades made by the Steelers worries me. The Steelers addressed needs on the edge and receiver. Williams and Smith are not "set the world on fire" type of guys, but if they mesh well with the Steelers system, the AFC North crown may very well be theirs, cause you know how things are going on in this division.
