Since there's no equally fantastic OC Channel in german, I always watch your videos and its sooooo cute how you pronounce the german words in this one haha. Keep up the good work, you're great!
You explained a thing in 6.00 minutes what my professor wasnt able to do in 2 hours and still i undertood more during this 6 minutes than i did during the 2 hours. Thank you!
Just discovered theses OC videos and you do such an amazing job! Not only do you explain the topic clearly, but you answer all the questions, in advance, that I may have. You're super enthusiastic and these videos really did help me a lot!! Thanks Professor Dave :)
your videos really helps me to understand the chapter before i go into the study guide or any study material keep up the good work....may God bless you.
The E/Z nomeclature is the first thing in chemistry I saw where it helps to speak german :D And thank you very much, there aren't any good videos about organic chemistry in german ;) And btw, the way you pronounce "entgegen" sounds very authentic but the Z in "zusammen" is a bit too soft (as it often is used in the englisch language), but in german language, it sounds more like "tsusammen" if you know what I mean :D
For me as a german, E for entgegen and Z for zusammen, were just ideas in my head to remember the letters. Awesome that the realy derive from these words. :D
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos! Some of the other youtube videos that exist out there simplify it a little too much and I still don’t understand the complicated terminology that my professor/ book uses, but you use that nomenclature while still giving an in-depth explanation making it easy to understand!
Thank you for the very helpful video! I now understand how to assign E and Z configuration! Do you have any suggestions for determining when a product demonstrates neither configuration? My textbook swears this is a thing, but I can't seem to figure out how anything could be neither E nor Z.
Sally P the only way E/Z wouldn't apply would be if an alkene is monosubstituted or completely unsubstituted. as long as there is at least one substituent on each carbon, E/Z can be assigned.
