Thanks for saving me the effort and disappointment I would have had. I just ordered the Nostalgia machine and a carton of Gold Medal floss sugar, but they split the order and the machine arrived but the sugar won’t get here for a few more days. I had a roll of Bottle Caps I was going to try but now I know it won’t work. I got a couple of “gourmet” lollipops to try in the meantime. One of the flavors is in fact called “Cotton Candy” so turning that into actual cotton candy should be like turning Pinocchio into a real boy.
That's what's annoying about similarly named American candies don't call it that if you can't even get the sweet right lol if it's not one don't call it one!
My favorite was at a fair--a maple syrup farm had dried their syrup and spun into the most delicious cotton candy I've ever had. It went soggy really fast but it was awesome.
As someone who made cotton candy weekly for years as part of my job, I can tell you that you need more sugar than that if you want any decent amount of cotton candy. And if you aren’t cleaning the machine between candy you could have a combo of the different candy flavors.

Anyways you can see the smarties at 2:20 and 2:24 they are in a little wrapped package in between the two pixy sticks. They are M&M sized and it's basically just compressed flavored sugar

@Jane Queen ! I mispoke. They actually have the candy called smarties on the table along with bottle caps. They are different things and I just wasnt paying attention. Anyways you can see the smarties at 2:20 and 2:24 they are in a little wrapped package in between the two pixy sticks. They are M&M sized and it's basically just compressed flavored sugar

I think that part of the reason cotton candy sugar is a larger grain size is because fine powder blows away in the machine.
