  • In both the Book of Mormon and in our day, Church stability becomes threatened as the rising generation struggles to understand and embrace the faith of their parents. Among the Nephite church, false ideologies rejecting the fall, resurrection, and atonement lead to moral sin and apostasy. During the 20th century, we see parallel apostasy creep in among the posterity of the faithful pioneers-as secularism and progressive beliefs threaten to undermine faith. Schools and college universities became a battleground for the hearts and souls of the children. Learn the fascinating story of the controversial firing of three BYU professors in 1910 by President Joseph F. Smith and Mormon’s counsel to save the youth of the Church today.

I refused to write a paper as a freshman at byu supporting evolution as the source for creation. I used science to refute evolution instead. The paper was returned to me & i was told to rewrite it or receive a falling grade. (The class was taught by assistants until this section when the 2 professors came to class to bear their testimonies of evolution)
I refused to rewrite the paper. I'm tremendously proud of that poor grade

Those of us parents who suffered through difficulties- which brought us to Christ -worked hard to prevent our own children from suffering and as a result they’ve had no reason to seek Him on their knees! Good times in our country has robbed our children of depth and faith. One doesn’t need saved until they need the Savior!

    Elder Orson F. Whitney:
“The Prophet Joseph Smith declared-and he never taught more comforting doctrine-that the eternal sealings of faithful parents and the divine promises made to them for valiant service in the Cause of Truth, would save not only themselves, but likewise their posterity. Though some of the sheep may wander, the eye of the Shepherd is upon them, and sooner or later they will feel the tentacles of Divine Providence reaching out after them and drawing them back to the fold. Either in this life or the life to come, they will return. They will have to pay their debt to justice; they will suffer for their sins; and may tread a thorny path; but if it leads them at last, like the penitent Prodigal, to a loving and forgiving father’s heart and home, the painful experience will not have been in vain. Pray for your careless and disobedient children; hold on to them with your faith. Hope on, trust on, till you see the salvation of God.”

My understanding was that the church academies thrived until Utah applied for statehood. The federal government insisted that tax supported public schools be established. Since these required no tuition as the private academies did, the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent their children to the public schools. The Church academies couldn’t compete with “free” tuition but the Saints paid the most expensive price of all- a lost generation.

I never heard this at all. Schools in areas outside the Salt Lake Valley were the only schools available. This is a huge area and involves the entire state almost. Academies had nothing to do with it. We only had a couple academies so the rest of the State went to a public school. This included me, my mother and her mother and her mother. It really is not a matter about schooling.

I am constantly being told not to verbally correct (lovingly) my adult children that struggle with wearing the garment of the Holy PH (my daughters-in-law have outright told me ‘fashion is more important’ to them), struggle keeping the Sabbath day holy, etc. Even the bishop tells me to “just love them.” I joined the Church in 1975. I am MexiCan. I sacrificed everything to join the Church and go on a mission. I never thought my conversion would last only one generation 😢😢. I prayed and raised my children stressing the importance of marrying someone who had an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, but none of my four children did. All my sons served honorable missions and were tremendous gospel doctrine teachers. My children’s behavior & choices as well as no support has killed my soul.
I don’t understand why leaders are teaching not to correct children, even adult children & “just love them.” In my opinion , this is part of the members changing doctrine and teachings in these latter days. I give up . I have no strength left to fight them all. Absolutely no support 😢

Because correcting adult children doesn’t usually work. Loving them can change things much faster. Pray that Their suffering during the millennium will bring them to their knees and to Christ.

“Just Love Them” means correcting them too. Whom the Lord Loveth He chastiseth. Your prayerful example of joy in the gospel is the most powerful influence. If you are sealed to your children and live worthy, the Savior will reclaim them. Those promises are sure. He loves them more than you do. He is their Savior, not you. As you live in faith and revelation you will be inspired day by day with faith, hope, and love to do/say the best thing for your children and grandchildren.

Recently talking with other gospel teachers for sunday school it came out that the kids didn't know hardly anything because they weren't learning anything at home. It came out in terms of older primary kids didn't even know what the 10 commandments were, as stated by one of the commenters. And this came out from me talking on another channel in comments with people that people weren't using the scriptures in Sunday school and that people were reluctant to use the scriptures but using opinions instead that weren't always led by the Holy Ghost. I wasn't surprised by how watered down many LDS communities and wards are becoming because you can see that in that a lot of people are wavering. But I didn't realize how much many of them are spiritually starved at home and getting absolutely nothing at home; that was another point by a couple of other teachers... that they are getting NOTHING at all at home most of the time.
And this brings me to the point that it seems like many protestant ministering groups are now trying to target and influence LDS people now using youtube... primarily because it seems that their own audience groups have declined so much that there's not much left to work with, coupled with the fact that LDS people are ripe to influence because of WEAKNESS and losing their identity through decline. You can see there's NEVER BEFORE been this many people trying to influence LDS people and youth towards a different point of view than the point of view the prophet and apostles are trying to steer us towards.
And there's not a lot of time left for us to get back on track.
    ...
I am grateful for your approach to try to reach people and to try to get people back on track with the gospel. I hope you will keep trying, while also keeping it simple and humble.
Its also my thoughts, that many people don't understand that we are surrounded by darkness and enmity right now. This is scriptural. And this is why we need to keep it so simple. Few people have thought about this. And only people who have reached a higher level of faith like the prophets really have a full view that is clear of enmity, darkness, and attention seeking; AKA sticking to simple gospel of faith and repentance. And that's why we stick to THEIR views and writings to try to keep it simple to escape this fallen world and its predatorism. Enduring testimonies of unwavering faith have the best chance to help people get past and smash through this darkness, enmity, and corruption of this world (to be able to fly).
I was recently impressed with how much of what we read in the scriptures and the intent of Zion is trying to escape PREDATORISM (and CAPTIVITY), and this darkness and enmity. That's so important on why we have to make strong efforts to both escalate our own faith and help others KEEP their faith intact. And that the evils of this world are working hard. (I no longer think LDS should send their kids AWAY FROM HOME to go to school anymore. Its ruining them.)
    ...
Abraham 1:2 And, finding there was greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I sought for the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to minister the same; having been myself a follower of righteousness, desiring also to be one who possessed great knowledge, and to be a greater follower of righteousness, and to possess a greater knowledge, and to be a father of many nations, a prince of peace, and desiring to receive instructions, and to keep the commandments of God, I became a rightful heir, a High Priest, holding the right belonging to the fathers.
Moses 5:10 And in that day Adam blessed God and was filled, and began to prophesy concerning all the families of the earth, saying: Blessed be the name of God, for because of my transgression my eyes are opened, and in this life I shall have joy, and again in the flesh I shall see God. 11 And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.
    ...
D&C 112:23 Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face.
1 Nephi 8:23 And it came to pass that there arose a mist of darkness; yea, even an exceedingly great mist of darkness, insomuch that they who had commenced in the path did lose their way, that they wandered off and were lost.
Ether 6:3 And thus the Lord caused stones to shine in darkness, to give light unto men, women, and children, that they might not cross the great waters in darkness. Also Christ's own words; "I am the light that shineth in the darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not" (Those of darkness don't comprehend light.)

Nice episode. The BYU accounts are powerful. BYU would be very different if the church had continued on that path of pruning corrupting professors and philosophies. The results could also have been very different if the church had made it so the church academy alternatives to public schools had succeeded and were still used.

I always love watching your videos, Hannah. You are truly a daughter of the Lord and a defender of Zion. I wish there were more young women like you. I’m trying to enter riddles in my own way right now as well, and even though I know I am far from perfect and still very flawed. I am trying to defend the church And the book of Mormon as well. I’m teaching my sons to absolutely believe in heavenly father, and the sacrifice and atonement of Jesus Christ. I’m also trying to teach them that the book of Mormon is real and show them actual physical proof in whatever way I can, but sometimes What is needed goes far beyond physical proof and a spiritual witness is far more powerful. I have seen what you are describing happened to my nieces and my nephew. Fortunately, my nephew is still strong in the church, but both of my nieces have wavered a little bit due to what they have been taught at University, which is very disheartening. Considering that some of the events that transpired in the book of Mormon happened literally only a few miles away from where my youngest niece is going to school, it is astonishing to know, and to see the subversive movements of the enemy through the education system, politics, and in every other way imaginable. I am determined to stake myself to the ground, and stand in holy places, and defend the kingdom, even if it means my life. In the meantime, I will make sure that my children who are also wondering and asking lots of questions do not fall shortof being worthy of the Lord. I love these videos please keep making them.

I am very concerned about the teaching of evolution today as fact and have seen the effect on our youth inside and outside the church. There is an amazing amount of compelling evidence coming out today which refutes the Theory of Evolution. This compelling evidence supports God and the flood which is being demonstrated by Christian Scientists in various fields of science. If only we can convince our youth to study this compelling evidence (Empirical Science) on their own rather than take their teacher's and textbooks arguments for evolution as fact.

15:53 my grandfather Arbun was in that lost generation in the early 1900's. He worked hard & kept his family together as best as he could. I think that's the different from our day. Yes, the beliefs were challenged in the early 1900's like they are now; but the family is torn apart now which was not common in the early 1900's, & now hard work is not appreciated or even encouraged.

Atheist don't understand why we must die, why we are mortal. If you look at the abilities of the body of Jesus after He was resurrected, it helps us understand the purpose of life. Christ materialized in the middle of a closed room after He was resurrected. If you were one of His apostles, and were there in the room when Christ materialized in the middle of a closed room, how would you react? How did His apostles react. If you had a flesh and bones body that could materialize in the middle of a room, could a jail or prison hold you? No. No laws could be written, because no one would have to obey them. No car, road, farms, industry. We would not be teachable if we were immortal from birth

nice! Why Mormon put “it” in? Mormon was one of the most fascinating bibliographers ever known. He put together documents, history, doctrinal directional accounts and events spanning over a thousand years and including an additional abridged history spanning over an additional 1000 years prior too- you have to understand what historians and scholars bibliographers do and how they arrive at a final bibliography. it requires a lot of studying researching reading and knowing understanding and organizing. Have you ever done doctoral work on bibliographic abridging? thee longer the span covering historical records the more volumes of documents to go through. look at the volumes of books encyclopedias we are offered for various subjects for example Human History, Animal kingdom, etc. Law dictionaries. Mormon looked at a library the size of something huge - more like a big house or cave full of records stored away- he siphoned through it all painstakingly and had to be able to know what’s what and distinguish between worthwhile and what-not. The work he did is far far far way under-appreciated. In todays age of pride and titles, He would be known as Doctor Doctor Professor Mormon Of Israel ESQUIRE… Dean of the Historical and Theological Department of the University of Earth. Let’s not forget he was a General, mor like the equivalent to Arms and Defense Secretary chief of staff first in command an equivalent to the Julius Cesar, Emperor of the Roman Kingdom, on the Western side of the World. It’s something of unnatural even, to be able to accomplish what Mormon did during his lifetime. And he didn’t have computers or motorized vehicle. When did the guy sleep? Where did he get the energy from and avoid chronic fatigue and depression? His people were dying left and right and yet he kept going. Many of us would have offed themselves. So why? He must have lived among angels and they among him in his presence- he didn’t do this work alone. I figure he must have had help, multiple scholars that the general directed. Why… It was urgent, extremely important, God directed commanded probably on the same importance scale as Moses delivering the people of Israel- something of that nature. The Book of Mormon carries a title well beneath its importance awareness. The book of the Highest Order and Urgency of Heaven and Earth. The Holy Ghost is not whispering- HE IS FREAKING YELLING SCREAMING - Don’t you get it?
