Congratulations grandma.
Such a blessing!
I just cannot wait to see your new babies! Congrats.
They are adorable!
The problem your necklace and your bird, hilarious. Like trying control water
I completely disagree... water would be easier!!!
LOL!
Just subscribed. You have a wonderful energy and great knowledge. I don’t even have birds, still enjoy your videos! 💜
Thanks for subbing! I appreciate the compliment - but, hang out long enough and you might need a parrot-companion!!! LOL
Congratulations on your new baby! Yes we picked our new boy today. Of course he’s adorable. I will message you on Instagram. Did Gloria show you all of her babies. She had lots of Caiques, hatchlings and older. In fact, one Caique egg hatched while I was there. She also hand feeds for other people. She had 4 Golden Conures! She told me she was going to call Tony Silva as he had expressed interest in her Brotogeris parrots.
I did not have a problem introducing the two Caiques I had many years ago. When I had my birds DNA was not available. An Avian vet would perform a mini laparoscopy. So I had no idea their sex. I introduced them slowly. They took to each other immediately. I agree about cages. When I put my black headed girl with the white bellied caique. They were out in the play area. We took the cages and took out all of the toys and washed the perches and cages. After the cages were dry, I put in all new toys and too perches from each cage to mix it up. When I put them together they were fascinated. I have heard two males can be a problem. And, as you said, they just may not like each other.
Yes, responding on Insta!!!
I watch another RUclips his caique is friends with his green cheek but he said it took work to get there I just got a new flock member today
Nick!!!! Well????
@@ParrotBliss only a little one keke the female kakariki she's a little gem as tame as a kakariki can be meaning she hops all over me but don't sit still for a second haha I'm now at 10 birds my house is starting to sound like an aviary now😂
Such beautiful babies...and like handling a toddler! Hahaha So cute and I laughed when you got pooed on...goes with the territory but my parrotlet has much smaller poos. LOL
Robin, you are NOT kidding!!! The smaller the bird... but, the smaller ones poop more frequently. Bit of a trade-off.
Yeah, the Caiques are a handful!
In my experience even handraised, bonded parrots seem happier with other birds around. My fathers parrotlet was very upset when he realized I was gathering up my parakeets for them to go home… and he doesn’t even like them 😂. Compared to the budgies he doesnt seem to know how to relate to birds well even starting at 1 year old but he enjoys being preened when he’s not chasing them around. Hes noticeably happier when theyre around. My budgie was definitely not happy before I got the second one, they complete each other for sure. From what I can tell parrots do best with others around, not necessarily bonded with them.
Thank you for the great information
Thanks for the thanks!
Felicidades
Gracias!
I finally got around to watching this video. My Caique is very aggressive but she is very bonded to my wife and she does like me but gives me attitude often! I really don’t think she would tolerate another bird. When one of the other birds flies on to her cage she charges for the ATTACK! At the vet she even lunged at the vet! LOL She is quite the crazy bird! LOL I see you have babies are considering selling them when weaned? I’m might try a cautious approach to my little queen. She was the first bird I got in over 20 years. I had had an African grey years ago and it died due to poor diet which now I know that in the late 80s no one really knew what to feed them. I miss him because he was a real cuddle bug which is unusual for greys. Thanks for the video I will consider what you said.
A cuddly African Grey? You had an anusual one! Yes, diet has changed. And Greys are prone to calcium and vit A deficiencies. Sorry to hear this - I'm hand-feeding 2 baby Greys now-- not mine. For a friend of mine who breeds them, it's been a fun experience. So, he's keeping them. Me? I will keep one baby -- and try to NOT keep 2! Yes, the others will need homes- good, loving homes :) LMK if you want one. Actually, just published a video of them.
Unfortunately, I do think your Caique would befriend another -- IF-- she didn't have your wife. And with time. So, I wouldn't expect a change. A baby Caique would probably be better friends with the Queen - you still have 2 Queens?
@@ParrotBliss yes I have the two Goldens and it’s amazing how different they are. The girl is sweet and mellow and the male is well, a boy! A rambunctious boy! I’d love the baby Caique wether or not it binds to my old Caique girl. The problem is convincing my wife. She loves them all but they are a lot of work and I’m on the road all the time. But what’s one more?! 😊 And besides, I’ll be returning in a couple of years then I’ll have lots of time.
@@floridamadman59 My husband has given up. He figures he won’t be able to hear another bird anyway… Does your wife love them lots too? They are a lot of work-
And my boy was mellow. Bonnie is too wound up!
@@ParrotBliss yes my wife loves them also but she doesn’t want any more because I’m not home a lot. I’m an airline pilot and I’m away 3 to 4 days and home 3 or 4 days. She feels it’s too much work. Maybe when I retire I’m be able to rescue some more.
@@floridamadman59 it is a lot of work- I understand where she’s coming from-
Drago My Hahn's is a prick to everyone but me'. I won't get get Drago another Hahn's for he already hates my other birds I have. Your Caiques are so cute. I've raised baby birds and loved doing it but it is so time consuming . My parrots love sticks to play with when they are on me. All my shirts are laced by my parrots good thing I like the ragged look .
I don't know how I feel about the ragged look, but my love of parrots is larger! Yeah, Drago sounds a bit like Emerald, our Hahn's. Wonderful but also a bit hard-headed, eh?
What are the size compared to cockatiels and greencheeks
Caiques are around 150g, Larger than Cockatiels or GCC
u know everything about parrots ❤ just subscribe 😊 i’ve a cockatiel and budgie, both females, we’re thinking to have a caique or quaker just we don’t know which one would be more friendly to other ones and talkative 😕
Caiques are not friendly - generally- with other parrots (they are in charge, not in friendship) and don’t really talk. Don’t know enough about Quakers
@@ParrotBliss thank you 🙏🏼❤️
Why don't you get more budgies?
What are the tree branches that you use in all your bird cages? Please don't tell me to look on the internet the different kinds are contradicting and confusing. I want to know what YOU use.
Thank you for your time this means the world to me. Joe, New Bern NC I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!!!
This is the kind of info I'll be more comfortable giving in the new membership videos- I'm not comfortable giving info like this in general in case someone's parrot has a bad reaction... Make sense?
Why is left shoulder bird panting in video?
They are having fun, keeping their eyes on the sky- and when they see a wild bird, they can get nervous- excited
I havd females caique she is 8 months old and im thinkingvto adding up a baby boy would that be safe for my females?
It's fine, but don't house them together or leave them out together until they are both adults and show signs of being bonded so that she doesn't hurt the baby
Hey Katy it's been awhile , I have an important question you might have answered this before not sure but I would really love for you to make a video answering this question if you don't mind, I have two caiques male and female unrelated that have been together since they were babies , They are both 2 years old now well the male is 2 and the female will be 2 by the end of April, I would like for them to breed and breeding age varies with caiques I have heard they can breed as young as 2 and as late as 5 , realistically I was hoping that my pair can start next year when they both turn 3 years especially if I set up there breeding box to there cage for them to get used to it please share your thoughts and when I can realistically expect them to start and what's the earliest etc. Thanks in advance
Will make a video when I can
@@ParrotBliss Thank you!
Hi, I’ve got a male caique, he’s young, what do you think about aggression due to hormones from the male species, do you have any information at all on this topic? Thanks in advance
I’ve done a video - title is something like “will you turn into a monster?” People say this can happen. I can’t rule out diet causing the problem (ripe fruit, too many seeds). Personally, I have had no problems with my males. I love my Caiques, they aren’t easy birds (as you probably know) but they are wonderful when you know how to handle and take care of them. Start with a proper diet. Avoid ripe, sweet fruit and give little to no seeds. Not necessary.
Thank you so much for responding, I’m going to check your video out now 😁
What if you got two males as babies will they be ok together?
I can’t say- when I had 2 males, I had no problems but they weren’t sexually mature.
