Great video. Mine have very large separate cages. They are out almost all day and in an out of each other’s cage. Because of the nature of Caiques, they all have tons of toys which I change around and replace frequently. I have both species. Behavioral differences are extremely difficult to ascertain. The white bellied are slightly larger. Mine are all buddies. It’s shades of Alfred Hitchcock when 6 come flying at me. Thank you for speaking about them.
The grass is GREENER in another parrot's cage! Jan, I love hearing about your Caiques. I have to confess, if mine make babies, I could end up with more, like you. Part of me is asking the powers that be, 'don't let them make cute, adorable babies I'll fall in love with!'
Lol yup this video was on my request I will be getting two more ,I have 2 males and I am getting 2 more females , they will be paired up male/female when they reach maturity
After many years of wanting one I am finally bringing home a baby caique in a few weeks. Only was able to get one. Been thinking about the sleeping options as I have read in the wild they sleep in holes in trees and for sure I have seen many with a next box. I want to provide that place of quiet and security. Was considering a nest box, but I have also been looking at other natural materials to make a hanging tube type thing. I know with chewing to watch carefully. haha! I am going to guess though the bird will stop once he realizes he's about to drop the floor out from under him. My GCC figured this out. I want to stay away from fabric. Any suggestions?.
I have 6. Mine are in very large individual cages with tons of toys. I notice mine go to the top of the cage on a diagonal perch at night. When they’re on that perch they’re not clearly visible. I also cover my cages at night. Mine aren’t biters, at least with me. My husband has been nailed a number of times. You have to learn to read them as you do with any bird. I hope you love your new baby. They really are very special.
First, congratulations on getting a baby Caique soon! How exciting- What material would you use for the hanging tube? I think it wise to stay away from fabric. ruclips.net/video/sCvO2gzO0qs/видео.html The link here is to a video of a sleeper box I put together - it was from an old nest box that I modified. My conures love it. You may want to try that. Of course, the more it can mimic something natural for them, the better. Keep me updated on your new baby!
@@ParrotBliss thanks for this! I used seagrass mats for my GCC. I think for my caique of trying something with sticks or bird safe vine basket or something. I liked what you did with the upside-down box with perches inside. This gives me some ideas too. Counting the days, so very excited!
My female conure could stick her head thru thoes bars I bought the largest cage I could find while keeping with in the bar spacing requirements it happens to be a wrought iron prevue cage an it has a paly top she loves it I love it I think it's 24 inch by 22 inch by 60 inch its big but she uses it all and I have her out all weekend am all evenin long afyer work
@@ParrotBliss thank you wanted the best I could afford its her home for hopefully many many years I wanted to make it great for her all kinds of different perches she really like the flat ones a lot I wanna know how to trim her nails without taking her to the vet to do it I hsve before but it's so expensive avian vets charge more their s rare find
Thank you so much for this I am gonna watch it again when I get home from work , My next question is can caiques start having babies at 2years or is it 3years ?
I worry it would make my pineapple cinnamon green cheek conure hormonal when is 8 months old an started showing hormones this summer so I have a lot of toys in the one corner of her cage with a perch in the middle an she can wiggle in there an she surrounding by toys an I night i cover her so she feels nice an secure in there without mesting behavior
@@ParrotBliss people have mixed feelings on cage covering but it's the same time every night never during the day I got toy bundles over the months and add to my collection of toys so I always have enough to rotate toys figure out which she likes best but only a couple at a time because there really funny about new stuff sometimes

I understand. Mine haven’t demonstrated and sexual behavior. Plus, I keep telling Charlie, “these girls are your sisters” 😂😂😂
Oh man that paints an image! 🤣
4 at one time? LOL
I don't think I could handle them, giving each one individualized attention.
LOL! They entertain each other, it makes it easier than having only 1. Two is the magical number - so I have two pairs :)

Probably be easiest an best to get them all at a young age just a guess im far far from an expert

I've noticed this with most all or all of my parrots - they like to perch as high as possible. Clearly that makes them feel safer.

Hate to tell you, they can start around 2 to 3 -- but they do what ever they want and when they want. No way to make them...

Covering their cages is great for letting them rest well. Your conure is lucky you get so many toys!
