Can't see how anyone can dislike this man, comes across as one of the most down to earth and charming interviewees ever. Self confident without any hint of pretension - that's why he's not arrogant as so many claim.
Really nice bloke with a nice sense of irony .He always maintains its not where you end up that's important but enjoying the journey , make him right :-)
I kinda get where Noel's comin from. I'm 29, born in London to Mayo parents, a massive Gooner (Arsenal fan). Am I Irish? Am I English? Well, I was brought up Irish, I know that. Culturally, me and my north London Irish mates were brought up differently to the English kids. As were my Jamaican and Cypriot mates. I've paid my taxes in England, never been nicked, went to Uni etc. But, if the world goes to war, I'm signing up for the Irish. No hate towards anyone, but we are where we come from.
Noel is such a gentleman. The guy presenting the jersey seemed very nervous, and of course he would have been. Noel then extends his hand in gratitude. He didn't have to do that, many celebrities would have taken the high ground. But Noel is Noel, he's a down to earth, normal guy. What a sincere gent.
He sums up what we and most Anglo Irish children/men feel like and experiences. For me, every summer 6 weeks to both My Grandparents farms in Clare and Ballyconeely
I suspect like a lot of us Irish kids who were born and grew up in England he was called the English kid when he was in Ireland and then called the Irish kid in England, and neither was meant as a compliment and said to make us feel like we didn't belong. Now because he's a famous rock star Irish people argue that he's 100% Irish with English people who argue he's English. He's earned the right to decide himself.
@@mattkinsella9856 like when Lennox Lewis won the wba heavy weight championship the British media said he was English and whenever he lost they said he was Canadian lol but yes I know what you mean, I'm from the north of Ireland and a lot of nationalists here have a loss of identity and unity especially when you go abroad because we grew up in a divided society...I only discovered in recent times how much it effects people and people need a sense of heritage and belonging, sadly in northern Ireland you couldn't open your mouth in public from being afraid of the enemy within...never knew a country happy until I moved away lol
@@jackietreehorn5561 Absolutely. I think it's so hard for people to understand if they didn't grow up with it. English people with Irish parents have a more relaxed attitude towards their Irish heritage compared to Americans who need to pin their heritage on some old world nationality regardless of how far back they have to go. There are loads of British musicians born to Irish immigrant parents; The Gallaghers, John Lydon, Boy George and Morrissey.

it's the main reason why the UK and Ireland in particular the Republic of Ireland and England don't need to make a song and dance about their relationship given that the Irish national team has a long tradition of English born players or the fact that Tony Blair and his kids have British and Irish passports. It's 2012 not 1912!

For a start 'ambulance' and 'cat' are not nationalities, that was a stupid analogy. Second I said he wasn't 100% Irish. If a Nigerian is born in Dublin to Irish parents he is not 100% Nigerian, he is part Irish as well. Don't be so arrogant, you don't know everything.
yeah but you can grow up in ethnic neighborhoods over here. whole neighborhoods in boston and new york can trace their roots back to specific countys and ireland and that makes an impact in what your surroundings are. im not defending a7xshaner cause ive no idea where the fuck he grew up and when people ask me what i am i say american
