  • Ronnie grew up in the westside of Jacksonville, a semi rural area, that had the Cedar river, known to the locals as Cedar Creek!

    Bare foot and riding on Gene Odom's Handlebars or Vice Versa to go fishing!
    Growing up and until Ronnie was 17 Ronnie had inspirations to be an Athlete!

    At First Ronnie wanted to be a Stock Car Driver!
    Then a Boxer , As he loved Cassias Clay!
    Until a local kid beat him up.
    Then he wanted to Play Football! and be a Running Back, at Lee High School.
    Ronnie broke his Ankle playing Football. He had pins put in his Ankle.
    Ronnie received a 4F classification from the U.S. selective service and that meant in the military, that a person was not fit for military duty.

    Growing up on the Westside, being in a band and having long hair, there was fights!

    1965.
    In 1965 there was a crucial moment in Ronnies life, that changed him from wanting to be an Athlete to wanting to be a singer in a rock'n'roll band.
    Ronnie was 17 y.o. in 1965.
    May 8th 1965 in Jacksonville. Ronnie saw The Rolling Stones Concert.
    Gene Odom said "Seeing Mick Jagger and the Stones is what put the Shuffle in Ronnie's Feets."
    "Before seeing the Stones Ronnie liked country Music" Gene says.
    11 months after seeing The Rolling Stones, Ronnie joined the teenage group The Squires in April 1966, being older he quickly took charge and renamed the band "Us". /ref
    It was MAY 8th 1965 after Ronnie saw Mick Jagger, that is when he wanted to be a singer in a Rock'n'Roll band, up until then he liked country music and sports.

    1966:
    It was Nadine , Ronnie's girlfriend(soon wife), who told her friend Rick Doeschler about Ronnie, which led to Ronnie meeting Rick and joining his Band The Squires in April 1966.
    In April 1966 The band also changed their name to "Us".
    Ronnie joined the Squires in about March/april 1966, and renamed them US, and they played some battle of the bands gigs Against The Mods,
