    No one and I mean no one can replace Ronnie and johnny knows that. I appreciate the younger brother keeping the music going. I also like his Christian songs he and brother Donnie are doing now. Really powerful.

    I saw Johnny Van Zant Band in 1979 warming up for Molly Hatchet in Johnstown PA. Great concert. I've seen Johnny 4 times with Skynyrd. Why all the hate about them, I did not get to see the the originals, so for me seeing Gary, Leon, Billy and Ricky with Johnny was a thrill of a lifetime.

      @aprilgosa5779 Год назад +7

      The hate towards Johnny is probably. misdirected grief what the haters fail to realize or acknowledge is the fact that Johnny would gladly step down to get his brother back also he originally turned down the gig to front Skynyrd his and Ronnie's daddy convinced him to do it to honor Ronnie is all Johnny intended to do and he refused to sing Freebird for a while and even now sometimes he only does part of the song and a recording of Ronnie finishes I believe also Ronnie's hat on the microphone as the song plays out is a beautiful tribute

    Anyone that says Johnny can't sing is either deaf jealous or stupid it is a great tragedy his brother died and especially the way he did but Johnny loves his older brother Brickyard Road is a beautiful yet heartbreaking song you can feel his pain he was just a teenager when Ronnie was killed

    What's great about music videos like this is there is the sexiness without the sleaziness, musicians don't have to degrade women and children to get attention for their music videos, don't have to be pornographic about their comments in reference to women when singing about passion. This video does allude sexiness because there's intelligence and questioning what should be questioned. Oh yeah, and the women in this video was wearing real clothes that were considered clothes.

      Dude those are HAMER guitars not Gibis, so the dude is playing HAMER Explorer, another one is playing also HAMER and think it's studio model a double cut guitar. Now i'm from the East Europe, damn i event went in a war against those Biden's and Cilnton's supporters who attacked my country and now i have to explain an American what sort of guitars those people play? That it ain't the same guitar brand what Collins have played? Damn...i will come to US and became the real southern dude.
      What is wrong wit the US today? Why you think that they are milking L.S., i mean it was a cearten era and a lot of people dressed like that, to me they don't look 100% like Lynyrd Skynyrd nor they sound like them. it's more hard rock even a HM drive, those guitar parts are great. I have to admit that player is great, at least i like that style of playing.

    • @jaxflfreebird
      @jaxflfreebird Год назад +5

      @@bobibobik5903 I don't know the first thing about guitars. The guy playing guitar just resembled Allen Collins a bit. Anyway, Johnny's career as a solo artist was failing. I think the last JVZ record was that Geffen record and it was very bad. JVZ Band has never, ever been able to sell records. And the reason Rickey Medlocke is not in Blackfoot is they also faded away. They couldn't sell records or make music that brought people to a concert. So for Johnny, joining a band which had GREAT SONGS and some original members was the best thing to ever happen to him. Johnny's best talent has always been his voice. I thought he sounded really good for several years up into the mid 90's. The dude can't sing now. It happens to most singers. Every original member in the band is dead. Rickey was in the band in 71 and was on the Complete Muscle Shoals album. The band never SOLD that album. It wasn't released in the USA until about 1991, or around the time of the Skynyrd box set. Legend, the album, came out in 1987 as the Reunion Tour started. The first album without Ronnie came out in 1991 as Skynyrd 91. Anyway, I live in Jacksonville, Florida. You know guitars, I know this band. Just look at my channel. Click on my cartoon icon and go to my freaking channel. I know the Skynyrd band. I am NOT a musician though.

      @@jaxflfreebird All good thank you for the extra info. No need to be a guitarted like me to enjoy in music, to be honest less then 1% of guitar players would knew which guitars were used in the video especially Hamer is a bit forgotten brand. That is a bit sad since in my humble opinion Hamer US was the best guitar brand that U.S. had ...
      Hey that is uber cool that you like that city, yes i checked the channel but even if i didn't i believe you that you know more about that bend then usual fans do, now i see it is difrent that you know a lot. For sure much more then i do.
      Sure in this video that player looks like Collins a lot, reason why i suspected that it is an another person was due to a difrent style of playing, as i told at lest in this song it sounds more heavy.
      Music biz is an ugly thing, especially in last few decades. For me personally is not important did someone sell albums or not, but it is important for the band and the record company and even for listeners to find out about the band.
      Nowadays i like older music from late 60's 70''s and 80's and from newer one i usually pick musicians who don't care to much about making a commercially successful music. i like that when they sounds good, that they can play well etc.
      i do like blues and this so called southern rock - i think that is the name for the sound of L.S. kind of music?

    Wow!😂. I am a MASSIVE Skynyrd fan and I’m not hating, but the distance between Johnny and Ronnie talent wise is measured in MILES. Come to think of it, that goes true for Donnie as well. Ronnie could walk across the stage and command attention without speaking a single word. Johnny would have been SO much better singing country. He’s just not tough enough for rock. Pop fans didn’t like his boring hookless songs and rock fans didn’t like his soft and weak lyrics. Most Skynyrd fans like country and there is very little competition compared to pop/rock.

      This song was very popular where I lived. My band did it as a cover in the early '80s. Everyone loved it when they heard us playing it. Johnny was every bit as good as Ronnie in his own way. Apples and oranges. You're just a biased Ronnie fan.

      @@adamwarlock3530 That’s honestly not true at all. I was rooting for Johnny harder than most. Do you honestly think he is as good as Ronnie was? Watch Johnny in his video for Im a fighter. Watch him on the Last Rebel tour and on the 87 reunion. Also watch him from the Lynyrd Skynyrd 91 tour. His voice is usable, but it’s just karaoke level. He says “what do you say people” at least 50 times per show or more and he says it right in the middle of the songs. Awful stage presence. I do like him as a person, but he’s not a good Lynyrd Skynyrd front man. He dances like that Debbie Gibson pop singer chick from the 80’s for crying out loud. 😂

      It's not Allen. It's Eric Lundgren. Very good player in JVZ's band.
