After my cerclage I've started taking the progesterone shots (makena auto injections) and am now 19 weeks. Everything is going fine so far. Fingers crossed the progesterone, as well as the cerclage, helps the baby stay in.
I had 4 miscarriages and when I finally had my baby, the placenta would not detach, there was hemorrhage and I had to have D&C #5. I wish I had known about how chronic miscarriage may be linked to Low Progesterone levels. I also found out in my mid 40s that I may have PCOS. My only other clue was moderate cystic acne as a teen and into my 20s. No irregular periods, no hirsutism, no polycystic ovaries on scans. Sometimes an ovarian cyst on one ovary. I’m taking Progesterone cream in Perimenopause and love it.
Hi Marc, thank you! You said you don’t like oral progesterone. What is your preferred type? I’m on both oral and vaginal suppositories right now at 11 weeks pregnant. I started off on 100mg 3 days past ovulation and continued that to 7 weeks. Switched to 150mg suppository at week 7. My progesterone level at roughly 6 weeks was 23.5ng/DL. Tested progesterone again at 10 weeks and it dropped to 17.9ng/dL. At that point I started 100mg of oral progesterone also along with the 150mg suppository. I took another progesterone test about a week later and it dropped again to 17.1ng/dL even though I have increased my levels. I’m now taking 100mg oral at night and in the morning and 150mg suppository at night. Today I started spotting brown with a little blood, I then took a long nap and it stopped. The struggle is so real!!!! Hoping and praying I’m not losing the baby.

Then, here's the issue, after ultrasound 1. According to the doctor , the pregnancy is smaller than the measured time . The pregnancy measured 8*4*6mm 2. My Progesterone is measuring 1. 970 which he said was low. so, now my question is, the embryo still OK to continue with or can the Progesterone be increase to continue the journey ? Kindly help out ! if even not for this present pregnancy at least for future pregnancy . Because she didn't give me any pills or suggestions but send me home to miscarriage saying it's common and can't do anything about it. But, from watching your video , I think something can be done . I'm 42 and even though I keep getting prego naturally I'm tired of the disappointment of miscarriage physically. With all of my IVFs (I know- so sad) I was instructed to take 3- 200mg suppositories daily! 1 capsule doesn't seem like enough to me. I would definitely switch up your doctors, as they all do their own research.

That's is a good idea! One fertility clinic in Portugal told me has a lot of patients that have moderate Adenomyosis, but continue to have normal pregnancies. I have pockets of it and just had a miscarriage, but that clinic said mine was not severe and not a factor.

I'm unfortunately regulated to a county clinic for care because I can't afford regular health insurance and they aren't willing to test for low progesterone (honestly I feel like they would rather me lose the baby). Hi, I am 38yrs and had late marriage and conceived after 4 months of wedding. But around 5th week I had spotting when consulted with obgyn I was advised to just take rest. I insisted on getting my progesterone checked but she didn't think required. Then I was asked to visit after 3 weeks for a pelvic examination which was very uncomfortable n triggered some sharp lower abdominal pain, and unfortunately same day evening I started spotting again with lower backache. In morning I called my obgyn to ask for further evaluation and I insisted to start the progesterone and HCG but I was denied and told to take rest. The bleeding continued and the obgyn showed no interest in even evaluating my condition. After 7 days of spotting I strongly insisted on consultation and visited to discover that I was having miscarriage. All my reports were normal. Please advice me what could have gone wrong and how do I take next pregnancy to viable term. Hoping to hear caring advice from you. Thank you.

It showed the baby had too much of one chromosome and that was the cause of some of the abnormalities she had. Depends on how low they are. I recommend talking to your provider about this.

There is nothing harmful about taking them orally, I just prefer the vaginal insert. I find them to be more effective.

Hi..I had a miscarriage close to 10 weeks..it was a threatened miscarriage though I had hopes as the fetus had a good heart rate and growth as per dates..i miscarried naturally...all blood work seems normal after 2 days of miscarriage except progestrone which was 1.9..could this been a reason why I miscarried? Would I have prevented it if I took supplements or low progestrone was caused due to a chromosomally abnormal fetus

My OBGYN said she doesn’t want to test my progesterone, she says since I’m 5 weeks that it won’t have any effect If I were to start taking it. I miscarried at almost 9 weeks in November, I had low hcg levels and started spotting week 8, and was told by two doctors that I should probably take progesterone during my Next pregnancy. Should I take pro gest natural cream? Is there any harm to it? I just want to be proactive. I’m 25 this is my second pregnancy. My hcg levels are normal as of now.
I don't agree with her comment. All of my patients get their Progesterone tested. I would request that this is done.
Thank you doctor for your reply, after much persistence I was put on prometrium 200 mg, I paid for a test myself since the doctor won’t charge my insurance and it showed me at 21.4 at 8 weeks 5 days. (Started taking supplement at 6 weeks) I’m hoping that’s a good number.

kitty wolf I went in for a gender reveal appointment and they saw something quite not right and I did an amniocentesis at 23 weeks. It showed the baby had too much of one chromosome and that was the cause of some of the abnormalities she had. Then after I decided to terminate I went to a geneticist to see what was wrong and that's when I found out.
