My gf and I fished the same ramp today (Sunday 30th) with a stiff SW wind. Little schools of croaker big as your hand in and out of the weed flat on incoming tide but no big boys like we were looking for. Hope y’all have better luck next outing. As far as your biting flies try skeeter beater, it’s a NC product and TWs carries it.

yes on the top water. i love saltwater fly-fishing. when stripping your line in the small shoreline fish jump over your line , funny to watch.

I'm dying laughing at all of your girley sound effects in this episode. Look into getting a Thermocell to keep the bugs away. We put the names on Boats that are frequently in bug infested marsh areas and the Thermocell works like a miracle.
I have fished there before. We waded out to near a channel and just sit down in the water to keep the flies at bay.

We have a neighbor with horses, and I think that's why we get them at our house.
Man, they are a pain when they bite. My wife gets the brunt of it. They probably think I taste bad. lol

Hello, horse fly's and deer fly's the worst then comes sweat bees pesty little bugs but at least you two tried to get a fish, I have been so busy working on my house and garden cant even think about fishing just do have time to take my Harley out for a ride , but like watching you two try , be safe and take care
I'm from Jupiter Florida which is absolutely beautiful, but something about the Outer Banks in NC, and the greenery is just different. Been multiple times, and absolutely love it. The fishing is better down here though

Hiya, awesome video and the best thing for those biting bugs is Sun block, it's not only great for keeping the sun from burning you up but, it keeps mosquitoes, deer flies, ticks, nats, feas and horse flies. I found this remedy from working cows, the cheaper the better, I use it everytime I go fishing. I live in South Louisiana and we have everything that bites. Good luck too ya. They love type O blood. I use picaridin, no deet, smells like citrus, lasts 12 hours, skeeters, ticks n horse flies hate it.

I was bit by a horse fly on the back today while checking my snake trap at my pond. The pain is real
Those flies are very persistent and will keep coming back at you to ruin your day. That was one awesome sunset though!

Hey Heidi, they have this new technology called drones . They can drop your bait about 2 or 300yds out. Might be a good investment for your show.
Unfortunately in (commie-Lina) North Carolina. You’re not allowed to use a drone for any kinda fishing activity. I swear it’s like we’re getting to be the next California..
I didn’t know it was anywhere in NC.. thought it was just along the national seashore that it’s illegal. Probably wouldn’t use one to drop bait anyway, though.
@@LilRedHeidiHood North Carolina law (G.S. 14-401.24) states that it is a class 1 misdemeanor to fish with an unmanned aircraft system (a drone). However, it also specifically states that using the drone for "spotting, locating, recording, broadcasting, or streaming video of fish" or "deploying bait" is an exception to this.
So, what does that actually mean?
It means:
It is legal to use a drone as a spotter to locate bait or fish.
It is legal to use a drone to carry a baited line out into the water.
The full text of the law is below.
"§ 14-401.24. Unlawful possession and use of unmanned aircraft systems. (a) It shall be a Class E felony for any person to possess or use an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aircraft system that has a weapon attached. (b) It shall be a Class 1 misdemeanor for any person to fish or to hunt using an unmanned aircraft system. (c) The following definitions apply to this section: (1) To fish. - As defined in G.S. 113-130.G.S. 113-130, except when an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aircraft system is used during, immediately preparatory to, or immediately subsequent to the taking of fish for (i) spotting; locating; recording, broadcasting, or streaming video of fish; or (ii) deploying bait. (2) To hunt. - As defined in G.S. 113-130. (3) Unmanned aircraft. - As defined in G.S. 15A-300.1. (4) Unmanned aircraft system. - As defined in G.S. 15A-300.1. (5) Weapon. - Those weapons specified in G.S. 14-269, 14-269.2, 14-284.1, or 14-288.8 and any other object capable of inflicting serious bodily injury or death when used as a weapon. (d) This section shall not prohibit possession or usage of an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aircraft system that is authorized by federal law or regulation." SECTION 2.6.(b) This section becomes effective July 1, 2023, and applies to activities occurring on or after that date."
Last I’ve read it said you cannot use a drone for any type of fishing activity. But now the way I’m reading it it contradicts it self. Soo I’m not sure maybe need to ask a wildlife officer.

The Salvo Day Use area is notoriously shallow way out..... You're better off fishing near where the Rodanthe heliport is. There's a dredged channel that serves as an emergency ferry route when overwash closes Route 12.

@@LilRedHeidiHood I lived up there until February last year. Moved further down the coast to Morehead City. The fishing down here is better than the OBX, we get tropical species as well as Drum, Specks, and Flounder....
