A few hours of snowfall and the city turns into a winter wonder.

The official opening of the Christmas lights took place yesterday in this part of Helsinki.

Lovely scene, so jealous of the snow... Shoutout to the team at 12:59 brushing snow off the roof, curious why that is done though?
The transition from autumn to winter went so quickly too; one day it's still dark and wet, the next day it's white and cold.
Can you believe i didn't notice roof cleaners until now that you mentioned it?
Had i known i would have aimed the camera longer, awww :/
It is important to clean roofs to prevent too much snow from accumulating, which can cause dangerous situations if the snow slides down.
However, i think the roof cleaners at Stockmann are doing it super early, but it's the busiest place in all of Finland, so better safe than sorry. 😁

The main problem is the snow can turn into ice, fall down and hurt people or hit cars. And if there's enough (wet) snow it can damage the roof. "Scenes By Sevy", thanks for the beautiful winter walk!

It is quite early to see this in Helsinki. Building owners are mandated to do this. One is safety to prevent heavy snow and ice dropping on to people as well as making sure there is not large enough build up on the roofs. So, if there has been heavier snowfall you see part of the walkways blocked as they are clearing the snow from the buildings.

Thank you for the video buddy! Just came from Rauma and they have this amazing old wooden city Vanha Rauma. If you have any spare time, you should try walking the old town, it was amazing with the christmas lights and snow!
It's a pleasure.
Rauma is very high on my list of new cities to visit. Due to the distance it will take extra planning, hopefully i can visit it this winter as i would really like to see it too.

My home will have no lights or tinsel, no decorations save a wooden heart painted blue and yellow with metal Believe across it until the lights are on in Ukraine and it is safe to sing. I want my home to stand witness for bravery, suffering that is happening so far away. If the blue and yellow ribbons streaming from my porch act as tibetan prayer flags, I will be so happy.
