I loved this! When I was a child 1960-72 everyone would decorate their home for Christmas and downtown would be decorated! This reminds me of days ago.

I'm Norwegian and I have to say that I miss winter. The cold. Fresh cold air. The job of removing snow. The silence that winter creates. The sound of walking on cold dry snow. Sitting inside having a hot cup of coffee and looking out the window to see the snow falling on the ground. Go on magical walks with a flashlight in the forest with lots of white snow on the trees in complete silence. Get in the car to drive around in the snow. That's probably why I'm so happy about winter. Of course, I'm happy in the summer and the sun, but I quickly get tired of summer and then i want king winter back! Hmm maybe I'm crazy? 😅🤣

Never knew NYC had neighborhoods I thought it was wall to wall buildings, stores, what a learning lesson on how beautiful parts of NYC is. I've lived in NJ for 76 years and never had a reason to go anywhere in NYC other than Manhattan, Little Italy, not a city girl.
So jealous of everyone who experienced something like this in their childhood, so jealous of kids that have loving families and live in a nice safe country and can experience holidays like Christmas and halloween. Everything that I experienced thru my childhood was both physical and emotional abuse, getting kicked out of home for nothing and my holidays were sitting down and watching a sheep or a goat getting slaughtered. As someone who lived in Minnesota for 20 years- yes, it is so beautiful but it's not all good. The winter can be hellish for driving (step on the breaks and you wont stop), car and house problems (gas freezing, pipes bursting), and having to shovel often and brush snow off of your car every time you decide to drive. Oh- and not to mention hellish wind. The worst feeling is walking to your car- everything is numb from the -20 degree weather, then oh you need to scrape snow off of your car now instead of getting into your car (you want to get in your car not because it'll be warm, but it will be wind free). It's pretty and all but you wouldn't wanna live there trust me. To add on to this- We only get 3 months of summer. Winter overstays its welcome. Our snowfall starts in November and melts in March-April. Then you have a muddy month- then Summer begins. (Fall usually starts late September early October and ends when snow falls in november). The coldest months are January and Feb. So winter in December is so pretty and not too cold. If winter ended after december I would actually love the winter. It would be Pretty manageable. January and Feb turn winter into a living hell. From personal experience- I will be trying to move as soon as I can. My dream is to live by the ocean, but we all want what we dont have.

Good old Brooklyn ! Grew up there ..the Goomba's are big on lights lol! On some nights its packed with lines of people walking the neighborhood. the blessing is watching different families and their kids seeing the houses for the first time .God bless all! everyday can be Christmas time if we so choose. Amen!!🙏

Never knew NYC had neighborhoods I thought it was wall to wall buildings, stores, what a learning lesson on how beautiful parts of NYC is. I've lived in NJ for 76 years and never had a reason to go anywhere in NYC other than Manhattan, Little Italy, not a city girl.

Everything that I experienced thru my childhood was both physical and emotional abuse, getting kicked out of home for nothing and my holidays were sitting down and watching a sheep or a goat getting slaughtered. As someone who lived in Minnesota for 20 years- yes, it is so beautiful but it's not all good. The winter can be hellish for driving (step on the breaks and you wont stop), car and house problems (gas freezing, pipes bursting), and having to shovel often and brush snow off of your car every time you decide to drive. Oh- and not to mention hellish wind. The worst feeling is walking to your car- everything is numb from the -20 degree weather, then oh you need to scrape snow off of your car now instead of getting into your car (you want to get in your car not because it'll be warm, but it will be wind free). It's pretty and all but you wouldn't wanna live there trust me.
To add on to this- We only get 3 months of summer. Winter overstays its welcome. Our snowfall starts in November and melts in March-April. Then you have a muddy month- then Summer begins. (Fall usually starts late September early October and ends when snow falls in november).
The coldest months are January and Feb. So winter in December is so pretty and not too cold. If winter ended after december I would actually love the winter. It would be Pretty manageable. January and Feb turn winter into a living hell. From personal experience- I will be trying to move as soon as I can.
My dream is to live by the ocean, but we all want what we dont have.

I'm pretty sure Americans started the tradition of Christmas and putting up trees and lights, and the whole world followed, like in Korea they put lights and trees up too because of America, but it can't beat America and I been to so many places in America during the holidays and they put up lights everywhere and decorate the trees outside with lights and ornaments, it's magical.
Having to endure the hottest time of the year, I enjoy looking at snow scenes while praying for an early autumn.
