- yes I know its not running good, found out later it just had a stuck float in the carb causing it to lean out and miss, but not to worry its running like an absolute champ now
Gotta love those old Vikings. New trucks will never last like the old
that sounds brings back a lot of fond memories of our old 68 c60
Or this one. How could I ever forget this interior view. Dude. Glad you’re back!
I had some good times hauling corn silage in of these. Had no breaks. The clutch about shot. Burnt oil like a sive. I spent days at a time in it. I miss them days.
I love trying to start a old truck with 5 old men standing around telling you what to do. lol. I been there.
I almost forgot about the Viking ! I really liked the shot of the exhaust pipe !
They just don't make 'em like they use to. I love the old ones.
Dude you are a beast lol I love how you just plow into the car I subbed I love ur vids!
First time I've seen an ax used to put a battery in...lol. When they sit that long, I just prime them by hand with a cap full of gas.
Love the tailpipe view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!sweet~~
I love your dump truck!
Good job! Nice trucks!!!
That's the most BADASS sounding 283 I've ever heard Wayne!!!!! I'd REALLY like to see a WOT start video of it and then see and hear you with the the pedal to the floor for like a minute and 30 seconds, Try and take your foot off the gas quickly so that the pipes will pop!!!
Sweet truck, hope to see more of it!
It sounds somewhat like a 4 cyclinder when it's not running right.
nice viking. ever heard of the LCF? just got a 283 out of a 1960 wrecker for my camaro project. 1 plug looks oily. the rest look runnable.gonna have it rebuilt anyway when i can afford it. it has the big bellhousing and clutch. i had to retrive that and the starter.never knew they came in two sizes. learn something everyday. the exhust manifolds were packed with mouse bedding.but it did turn by hand so I bought it. it's a 2 barrel with the cool chevrolet writing on the valve covers.
@bulldog0046 no actually come to think of it I think the only starter Ive replaced in quite a while was the VW golfs and that one was going out when we bought it
Wow! What a Beast! Sweet truck
That little bump to the Lincoln probably didn't even scratch that truck. They build them good back then.
We like it! The ending was cool too!
It sounds like it's running on 5 cylinders. Probably the exhaust valves are hooped.
Always best for the dry journals to prime the carb with fuel through the vent hole so it starts as soon as possible.
maybe the lobes are worn?
Yes could be,..but depending on which lob's are worn,..it will usually pop back though the carb.
You can remove the valve covers and measure the lob height at the push rod as you turn it over by hand at the front of the crank with a socket.
To check your valves,... pick up a air fitting for your spark plug holes to accommodate compressed air.
Then you can check each cyl. and find out where it is worn If you hear air leaking out through the carb,…it's the intake valve that's not sealing. If it's coming out the tail pipe, then it's the exhaust valve that's hooped.
If the air is leaking out the breather cap,.then it's the piston rings that are gone.
WOW! Fix it up and get it on the road!! Heads will turn! You'll get thumbs ups!!
@StraightPipingDaddy its the same motor but it was misfiring badly, had that stuck float in the carb but I got it fixed up now
Do u still have this old truck???
you make awesome videos
@bld400 its got the new plugs, the problem I had was that the float was sticking closed causing it to starve for fuel, got it fixed and its running like a champ now
@76hotrodF250 just a little 283 but dont let the size fool you its got quite a bit of snort
haha great car crushage hehe ! hey you know what ? When the engine misses, it sounds like an old subaru !
I just love cold start videos :D
If you locate the bowl vent,(probably a slanted brass tube up near the choke flapper),you can prime the accelerator pump diaphragm(or leather cup)and it wont have to grind over dry,OR tear up the pump. Just sayin'
@ruwithlee1970 havent had time to mess with the bronco yet but it is moving up on the list, cant wait to go topless for the warm weather LOL, Ive thought about the electric fuel pump thing but really just dont want to mess with wiring it up and putting a regulator on it ect... Ive always thought that if you can get by leaving it stock then run with it
@phantomy82 it's the choke for the carb
@76hotrodF250 its actually the name of the truck, never heard of it before I got this one but its a Chevy Viking C60
@ConRWD no worries youtubes been doing that a bit lately
Oh man, that is sweet..... liking the vids!
Sounds like fouled plugs, or the main jets are clogged
@oney135 is that the name deal, I never had a clue, to be honest its the first one Ive ever seen with the viking badge on the side
hold the gas to get it to run and AWSOME VIDO
Yah pump pump don;t work I seen that
Jason Teasdale It does work.. It squirts gas down into the venturis of the carb, via the accelerator pump. Gives the engine a little prime to fire off on.
@fuseli bought some good mounts just for that reason
@FordDZLMan9191 ahh yeah I was a little dissapointed at the end, couldve done better but it wasnt running for squat and barely had enough power to get to the shop let alone smash up that lincoln LOL
that was great! almost TopGear-esque!
hows the vicking these days? are u ready for winter? and when are u gonna do anotherf cold start?
that hood on yer viking is a jet pod V-8 hood. very rare. that hood alone is worth a couple grand.
Hey Hows going up there, did you ever get the bronco fixed? Also what caused the engine failure on 400 . have you ever thought of putting an electric fuel pump on the old beasties.
Mighty old chevy!
yea I would definitely say Wayne; that it did sound like it needed a bit of work there cause it sounded definitely like it was missing to say the least....:)
Nice truck! that's about it.
Dang brother, that poor truck sounded like it had coronavirus or something.
A 6cyl! Can that truck even go 60? I had a 63 3/4 ton that topped out around 70!
What's that handle on the left of the steering wheeling that he was pulling ?
Remind me again Wayne what engine is in that truck?
Dump a little gas down the vent tube to the bowl then put a little fuel in the main ventury
@RamblinAround lol thats funny. I was out camping and stopped at a mcdonalds to get some food. I stalled in the drivethru and it the cables were loose. "I know whats wrong!" grabbed the ax and beat the cables. :P
Has this guy ever heard of a Warm up? or Oil pressure??
Guess the batterie post is toast now
So how's she running in 2019?
Got something in the carb probly pulled some dirt up out of the tank so it's running wierd thats all.
things a beast! I would used starting fluid with that old gas sitting in there.
man, i want one of those! And great video! I'm subbing
sounds pretty by i would love to have that truck
howcome you didn't prime the carb first?
Old trucks rule.
Don't pus the gas when engine is cold. It causes lower revs
Awesome inside shot... how did you get it? Would love to see you start up more of your stuff with that view!
@420witchdoctor oh yeah its a heck of alot better than tearing up the box on my international for trash duty
@1987chevroletcaprice uhh I think it was last year about august or september
@98eck LOL we like it, gives me something else to laugh at
hahaha thats so funny when you used an axe to get the battery cables on and here i thought that an axe was to be used on fords haha
Don’t forget the Spartan
@wellsequipmentrepair LOL no worries dude
Good advise at 3:39
nice crankage!
wait.. the 366 came later i think. my bad
LOL @ 8:12 "haha car, not even a problem"
cool this vid came up in my "featured videos" :)
Genius
Week fuel pump. Timing sounds off too
How big is the motor?
The very old Silverado truck
Good video Cool!
@SergeantTwiggs LOL you can thank the truck for that
how long has it been sitting?
Sounds like a v8 running on 5 or 6 cylinders
whats a stuck float?
Awesome, totally better than davidsfarm
Why not pour some gas in the Carb..or spray some starting fluid in the carb ..geez save time.the battery and starter..
What's that knob he was using on the left hand side?
Manual choke...do you know what they are....???
Oh ok, thanks. I'm not familiar these much older trucks.
Them old trucks could be a bitch to start. no electronics all manual a couple of accelerator pumps and pull the choke out and crank, when it fires push the choke in about half way and work the gas pedal and choke to keep it running til it warms up. a little tricky. I have an old 74 Ford 3000 tractor...same deal. Lots of fun..not at all like starting a computer controlled fuel injected modern engine..
Someday, I'll own an old truck like this. Old engines are amazing.
Christopher Cordasco its the choke
Give it a little go juice dump gas in the carburetor
@wagner59270 Hey look you have a new fan cause you tapped a car lol. Good Job.
Next time hold it to the floor! And let it rev wide open till you hear it began a rod knock! Then back off!
its a 283 v8
Thanks for the vid.
@Tallerico500 because its got an oil bath air cleaner thats a pain in the ass to take off LOL
prime for a good time
Where are you from?
no smoking............good sign.
for wayne or the truck? he smokes
no he said its a 283
@korimcclure1 huh? wow feeling a little insecure are we
i like the muffler hanger a pieace of wire
oh wow you can tap a car your better then david's farm now
save the starter and battery---prime the carb first.
