    Wow, this is exactly where I am now. I'm finally allowing myself to feel emotions and feelings that I used to block or dissociate from. Thank you for opening and sharing, Jenna, about self harm. I was part of that during my early teens and realized it was a way to cry out for help. I'm great at writing but still working on vocalizing. I always felt shame and hid that part of my life, though the feelings are coming again as a way to fully feel those emotions and heal. I was raised in a chaotic household, so I have to remind myself of being safe now. Both of you are doing wonderful work in helping yourselves and the collective. Thank you all so much for what you share. I learn so much from you. 🙏🙏❤❤❤

    Had a wonderful moment last week where someone chose to make a nasty comment to me unprovoked, For the first time that I can remember I was able to in the moment have the mindfulness to choose my response. I gained the awareness of how to process and react in that moment in a more positive way than I have been used to doing. Very proud of myself even though I had to battle the emotion of wanting to lash out in the "you hurt me so I must now hurt you mentality" Now I know I can take it even further to have a cold shower after or a pillow screaming session to release emotions. Thank you for the timely relatable episode

      Amazing, Jon!! I like to call that "being your own proof". You now have that experience as a reference point/marker seeing your own work in action on your journey. Thank you so much for sharing here with us all and allowing us to learn from and relate to you. And thank you for sharing the beautiful words of Viktor Frankl.

    This podcast is wonderful. Most of us aren't taught how to heal. Or that we might have a lot of emotion and pain that we have been holding on to for years. It is hard work to do this, but so worth it. I have been doing this work for years now and probably always will. But I am a much healthier and balanced person than I was earlier in my life. I just wish I did this before I raised my kids.

      Thank you so much for watching and sharing here, Cynthia. It's inspiring to hear the journey you've been on for years in the face of the challenge, the pain, and re-raising yourself while also raising your own children. What a beautiful gift and example you are giving them through your actions. Sending you so much love.

    I didnt start slowing down until I was 33. I’m 38 now and the process keeps getting easier but the amount of emotion trapped in my body is immense! I grew up in a pretty chaotic situation and coped by pretending I was ok all the time. I’m finally in a phase of life and therapy that I don’t have to do this because of nervous system healing I’ve do e- but I’m now overwhelmed with what is coming up. Dark night of the soul for sure. Can you talk about shame coming up as we heal and let emotions come up and release. I’m noticing a lot of shame and regret coming up- and just grief for all those years I pretended and stuffed and people pleased, then exploded. Tysm to you both 😘

      Here are a few episodes I think you'll find helpful regarding the shame, regret and grief that surfaces for all those years pretending, stuffing, people pleasing and exploding. Sending you so much love and gratitude for your being here on the journey, Kate

    Wow. Thank you for this. I just finished Deb Dana's book Anchored today and this has really hit home. Knowing that there are very real biological responses that we shift into in response to emotions and thoughts has been a real awakening. This is a great episode. Thank you for all of the amazing work you are gifting people.

    Hi Jenna, hi Dr Nicole. Is it normal for emotions to stay in the body going on a week now? I go through cycles of anger and sadness even thoughts of wishing I were dead because it would be so much easier to give up. I’ve never made plans so I don’t think I’m actually suicidal. As time passes, I build back up again, but it seems like it takes way too long. The process is exhausting. I’ve tried writing my thoughts down and breath work, but my thoughts are angry and the breath work only makes me cry which keeps me feeling sad. I sound really pathetic right now. I’m usually always positive and looking for the silver linings in life, but when I’m down, I’m really down. It seems like I’m holding onto things longer now instead of working through them now that I have the tools and some knowledge about self healing.

      I feel like I can understand this and relate, because what I've noticed about myself is I have to REALLY deeply feel through things in order to work through them. Sometimes it's very dense and I think a lot of it has to do with hormones. My "moon time" (period) is usually my "shadow work" time where I need to address a bunch of things.

    This made me cry. For two years I’ve been feeling my emotions, labeling, and finding what works to release them. I think I’m crying because the anxiety I still feel is there especially in the morning. I feel it but I haven’t found a great way to release yet and I feel like that part of my emotional journey will never heal. So I’m crying as a release because I just feel so sad sometimes after the work I’ve put in.

    This is great. I think the processing is important.. we can't release the energy stuck in our body until we process it. Could be somatically processing it or psychologically.

    • @SelfHealersSoundboard
      @SelfHealersSoundboard  2 года назад +1

      Yes! What we process mentally we must also process physically. Emotions need to move through and be released from our body. Thank you so much for listening and being a part of the conversation here. Sending you lots of love, Nadine!

    Amazing episode ! I'm surprised to learn of the importance of movement to shock the system back into a regulated state. Is it possible that "depression"/a frozen state can sabotage that ? I used to think I was depressed, lethargic, lazy, that sports was just not for me and even after years pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I still identify as a unhealthy non-athletic person and will often make up excuses and give up as I feel very unsafe outside. Could it be that this frozen state does not want to shift and wants to protect itself by sending thoughts like "what's the point? or I can work out tomorrow, etc" ? Thank you for sharing your amazing work here ! 🙏❤

    Great episode, some useful insights and I love the asking questions. I was reading something the other day about asking our brain questions, being the observer and then asking relevant questions, like why this, what now, who is this is relevant to and trigger different responses

    • @SelfHealersSoundboard
      @SelfHealersSoundboard  2 года назад +1

      Love this! Embodying curiosity (allowing ourselves to ask ourselves those questions and explore our possible responses) is foundation in any healing. To get to where we are going we must first understand where are starting, and we do so by getting curious. By asking these questions and getting to know ourselves. Thank you so much for watching and for sharing this here, Peter!

    I am confused. I get angry very fast and literally blow up. I don't know what u mean by going for a walk but NOT rehash the problem. What do I do in that walk to make it better?

    • @kaitlynnwiener9217
      @kaitlynnwiener9217 2 года назад +1

      I think it is more of being present in that moment while on the walk vs focusing on what your inner voice/ego is saying. Thinking about how your feet feel when they hit the ground, paying attention to your physical surroundings...is the sun out, are there any clouds in the sky, is there any flowers/grass around, do you notice any birds/butterflies, do you hear anything (dogs, cars, kids, etc), how is your body feeling (are you tense or relaxed, do you have any pains or sensations both positive and negative). When your mind starts to wonder again about the thing that has upset you, trying to bring yourself back to your physical environment. It is definitely easier said than done but hopefully this helps some😊

      It's hard, I understand that. I try letting go of the issue at hand, the angry feelings, by actually taking a step away, breathing, and telling myself to let.it.go. over and over again. Instead of making an issue of it, (and regretting it maybe later) I practice doing this. Just telling myself to let it go and maybe adding reasons why... "it's not worth the energy", "stay in my own lane". Hoping this helps🤞

    Hey have a question. I get severe muscle tension in neck and shoulders but not all the time, it comes and goes. I thought it was triggers but it may also be long term emotions stored in my body. Any tips for releasing the emotions that have sat in your body for long periods of time? Thank you for talking about this 🥹
