I think this is the first man I've ever heard that admitted that HE is the problem. He admitted that men manipulate us women into believing that WE women are the problem and we're the ones doing something wrong.
This really just confirmed for me that being a good woman and single does not mean something is so terribly wrong with you (even though we're all flawed). Sometimes men just aren't ready for a good woman.

    • @Rashaadthegr8
      @Rashaadthegr8 2 года назад +1

When do you go back to the gym? Did you admit to giving up aka cutting people off quick as a defense mechanism? Most women do this and wonder why they are single. If you struggle with forgiveness and giving good men a second chance you will always be single. Just a fact that most people don't want to listen to.

    • @jess_is

@@Rashaadthegr8 I go back Friday evening and then Sunday morning.
I forgave men I just cut them off. I'm not writing a life story here. When I see you in person again we can talk all about it.
(FORGIVENSS DOES NOT MEAN RECONNECTION). Can we also talk about how most men think they are good and they really aren't? And just because a man is good doesn't mean that he is good for me. I've met men who may be good but I know that he and I would not work. Those are all possibilities that men don't seem to discuss.
You all would reall rather sit up here and believe that women don't like good men when the reality is that women love good men. In the past almost every good man I've met was already taken.

@@jess_is oh ok. I won't be in town until the 22nd. What days you typically go? What's your # so when I'm back we can go together? since you don't have an iG.
      lol.
Yes I know just beacuse you are a good man doesn't mean you are the guy for that woman. But what I am saying is I know women who have been in a relationship with men that cheated or abused then for years and didn't leave. But meanwhile will but a good guy off or ghost him for any reason it happens with me, my friends, and I know it happens to other guys.
Forgiveness doesn't mean recoonnection you right. That's the problem. Peple don't even know how to give second chances to the ones who deserve it . My philosophy which most poeple agree with . Most Women spend all their 20s with dudes that may or may not apologize and don't want to get better and just lie. So y'all waste all your second chances on them instead of with a man who will use that second chance and actually strive to get better each and everyday. Then by early to late 30s you have to come out hte gate like black panther or out the booth like super man because one mistake is all it takes to be cut off. And by mistake or something small It could be double texting, asking a hard question, etc.
Alot of women don't want good men they rather compalin to GOD we don't exist instead of just giving us a chance especially when y'all know we better than the ex that cheated on you or beat you up.
Let's be clear my defintion of a good man is a priest, protector, and provider. A good man is not someone who does't mess up or makes mistakes. Its someone who learns from their mistakes and failures and always tries to improve in EVERY area of their life. Alot of people have a defintion of a good man but I am goign with the biblical defintion just to be clear. I am a great man of GOD/grat black king and on my way to becoming phenomenal and I am super duper uber single. So so much for that lie. And we met.lol. So what's good? lol.

@@jess_is Alot of women say they ready for marriage but can't cook, forgive, give second chances, budget, etc. Why u deleted your comment from my post? Lol.

    • @jess_is
      @jess_is 2 года назад +12

@@Rashaadthegr8 okay if you're going by the biblical definition of what a good wife is, a woman knowing how to cook ain't it. Because no where in scripture does it say women have to know how to cook. In fact men normally do most of the cooking due to women being 'unclean' during that time of the month.
I'm a great cook fyi, I teach people how to cook and have a culinary background in fine dining but even if I didn't know how to that wouldn't take away from the fact that I'm a good wife.

    1. Submitted to God.

    5. Lives & Loves on purpose & with intention.

I'm late to this interview but still on time to bless me. It's refreshing to see a man at his age speaking on his foundation and knowing that Christ is his center and understanding to deny himself daily to pick up his cross and follow Jesus. It's a choice that he continues to make. It's a beautiful thing and I've been praying for men of God and I saw that in this interview. Anyone can say that are a Christian but listening, receiving, and being obedient to his word is something different. I pray all went well with the speed dating and looking forward to if you're going to keep this going because I'm a God-fearing woman who speaks life to receive a Kingdom marriage.
Thank you Laterras for being a vessel and obedient to God with all these gems and blessings. I'm so grateful for your podcast. They seem to always line up with my ministry, and word, of me uplifting, praying, and encouraging others.

Awesome!! Excellent point...We are responsible and know better as people of faith. We have to take accountability, not put it off on the person we're in relationship with when they do us wrong. In other instances, we try to convince ourselves that the other person is a "good person"...but they are not in alignment with us. We are going through the notion and keeping ourselves on the hamsters wheel.

Laterras, God is really covering your family. I’m so glad God gave your daughter and her fiance’ time to reconsider going for premarital counselling. You’re such a great father for constantly communicating with them about it while still giving them the space to process it and giving God the space to convict them. I’m learning a lot from your parenting nuggets. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you to your family for allowing you to share bits of their journey.

@dearfuturewifey LaTerras, I wish he didnt have an age limit for what he is looking for as I have a friend, 35 but looks younger, absolutely gorgeous (an actual model), tall feminine athletic build (marathon runner), incredible woman of God, highly intelligent (graduate degree in the sciences and a boss), and a great leader and friend. She would be a 100% perfect match, they even have similar dispositions and skin tone and features. But he limiting himself to age cap.

I had to pause when he said, the woman that he is looking for must have a deep relationship with God. Not just something wishy-washy but someone who cries out to God when they are in trouble. That brought tears to my eyes because I remember prior to being married, I had this thought that for a second it sounded like a fairytale. The thought was "if I find a man that is submitted to God, we will be ok" That seed was planted in my mind, heart and soul and that was what I found in my husband. Now whenever I talk to my friends I tell them the same thing. Matter of fact, I say to them "if he/she is not submitted to God, it makes no sense" Now I have a testimony that it's not a fairytale, but real. God needs people together to fulfill his purpose.

Yes God does. God wants us to be intentional about the purpose(s) of marriage and ministry. I can honestly say I have never dreamt of my wedding/husband/ children when I was younger. Those things didn’t interest me. Being single with no children at the age of 51 stings a little bit now, but I thank God that He has allowed me to wait on the right man at the right time. God is continuing to use me for His glory as a single woman to fulfill other purposes He has planned. I’m okay with that because He knows what’s best for me.

I was getting ready to go to bed and I thought about what you said, “a person can wake up one day and tell their spouse I don’t want to be with you anymore I’m out” God said let every man be a lie and let God be true meaning, we as believers practice putting our trust in God, this is why it’s so crucial to acknowledge him in all of our ways and he promises to direct our paths. It is God who knows the future and he said he has a plan for us and that plan is good. When a man of God marries a true woman of God, he don’t have to worry about her waking up one day randomly saying im out of here, not because she’s perfect or doesn’t fall short at times but because of the God in her won’t allow her to comfortably remain outside of his Will and as a believer, there are guidelines for marriage & divorce and when she values pleasing God she will honor her vows not only to her husband but to God. At the end of the day whatever happens it won’t be more than a believer can bear and all things will work together. The point is, if God says yes, rest in knowing that he has his child’s best interest at hand and it’s safe to take her or go with him because Gods instructions are trustworthy. Lastly how do you know, by asking God to reveal who your spouse is to you and he will in the way that he knows to for you, his word says if anyone lacks wisdom he should go to God who will give freely to all who ask. Open up the word of God, pray and expect him to answer. That’s it captain lol GN

Another powerful episode! Such an amazing young man! It gives me hope to see that there are still men striving to be Christ like and desire a godly marriage! Prayerfully, my future husband will have the same desire for God and comes soon. I cannot believe that Laterras is setting him up on a speed date! That's awesome!

Can I say I know all about relationships ending before they begin. Talk about your knower, the Holy Ghost. He knows everything! He gives clear instructions and when a person doesn't know the Lord, they aren't seeking him, to please Him, to serve Him and His people. That's a huge red flag and that hurts especially if you've been emotional or intimate with someone and you like them and the Lord straight let's you know He ain't the one, ouch ouch ouch.🤕😳😟BUT PLEASING THE LORD IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PLEASING ME. WHEN THE LORD SPEAKS I GOTTA GO.🙄🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️😔😌✋

Great episode! I pray this young man finds a suitable (wife) purpose partner.
I loved the analogy of the teammates having contention between them, and how it postures you for failure- not winning. I also loved how Laterras reveals some tools he used to become a better listener. (Duly noted.)😊

Lovely story. We don't always get it correct the first time or even the second. But to do inventory on our own self see where we go round and try to make the revelant changes. I never been around healthy relationship/marriage. I always wanted and still do wanted a man that loves the Lord. But because of not learning myself and values and take time with God,I choose wrong more than ones. After my third baby and the pain I went through by myself with her. I know I need not to be In any relationship and seek the Lord and his plans for my life. Armany may God continue to bless u and your Dad who loves u very much. U just listen and dad won't lead u wrong.

Another profound episode, you always up the bar. Wholeness is important for us to be effective in every area of our lives. Introspection is critical to not only know where we are at, but how far we are from where we are supposed to be. Imagine a world where everyone was gracious. Imagine a marriage where grace prevailed above everything else

This was an amazing episode. I love how mature and self-aware Josh is. It is so encouraging to hear a young man admit that being dishonest within himself is the reason he has not found his purpose partner and made a commitment to her. He has done and is continuing to do the necessary work that reveals to him that it's not just something wrong with the young ladies. I also love that he's not allowing pride stop him from seekin premarital counselling. This podcast continues to encouraged during this season of waiting for my purpose partner, and I'm learning so much all at the same time!

Wow !!! 🙌 I truly am feeling blessed after hearing this podcast. Thank you so much. I too believe that when the time is right that GOD will put me in front of the man I am meant to marry and I will know instantly that he is the one . In the mean time I will work on myself and learn to love myself as well as to grow as an individual while being single . Sometimes I feel like there is a lesson to be learnt while I am in waiting and that God is preparing me for something . I will wait patiently on THE LORD. 🙏

Thanks again Mr Whitfield this was a soul searching interview. I was sitting at the dinner table enjoying my KFC and my coworker called me regarding getting out of her relationship because she is unable to submit to a man who haven't healed from his past and at the same time been forced into marriage by persons who doesn't know this man. I made sure I introduce her to your program Thanks again

I applaud this man. The devil is delaying mirages and development in men that it’s really hard to see grown men, doing great work yet immatured. The church needs to step in
