I do love the idea of slow stitching Rachel. Your blanket stitched circle looks like a rose. I’m definitely going to start as I am a “fabricholic”. I loved your gorgeous Florence lace - what a treasure - they reminded me of my granny’s lace collars, which weren’t quite in the Florence league. Do you ever sleep Rachel, as you achieve so much?🌹🌸

I have to say the world is so blessed by you and of course Anne Brooke, and your Sister Sarah and your mom. Thank you for sharing and please never stop sharing and I just love hearing you talk about your life in general as you are working, and its so relaxing, like spending an hour with a good friend.

Can't believe I just found this video. I had made my first Snippet roll a few weeks ago and was looking through RUclips videos for ideas on how to decorate it, that's how I came across your Journal of Stitchery challenge that you started at the beginning of 2022. Which I immediately joined, it was almost the end of February, so I made a start on my February panel, with very little sewing know how and with a vague idea on how too do a couple of embroidery stitches, just over a week later I'm really enjoying myself, February panel is done, I've done the Sampler panel and I'm already three quarters done on the new March panel, on which I've already done 9 new stitches i learnt by doing the Sampler panel. I plan on catching up with the Title page panel and the January Panel as well. My Snippet roll has been left somewhat abondoned, then up pops this video and I'm suddenly seeing lots of possibilities to use my newfound slow stitching and embroidery stitches etc skills to finish off my Snippet roll. How amazing, wow just wanted to say a big Thank you, to opening up a whole new World of sewing to me that I didn't know existed.

I asked my Mom if she'd like to do this challenge along with me, like you and your Mum! I sew, but have not done embroidery. My Mom does lots of it and she will help guide me, along with you and Ann. My Dad does woodwork and is going to make our wooden spools! What a nice way to connect with my parents miles and miles away🥰 Thank you for sharing this challenge information Rachel!

Roxy, I love slow stitching and sashiko or quilting by hand. I am a textile artist and have been sewing since I was taught by my Italian father at the age of 3. When I first watched your video you had about 30 people watching and Anne was a little of 500 subbies. Since you have had so many people watching, Anne is now over 800 subbies. Thanks for sharing your craft and for introducing the group to a new crafter!

I love this....I have a recently ongoing fascination with sewing little fabric clusters and adding beads and buttons....I have been sewing since childhood and crocheting and creating dolls.... I find that I don’t have as much time for it normally but, my responsibilities at my job have changed recently and I find that I have time at work now....snippets are an easy craft to carry along...I make them by the batches and I have had some success selling them on my Etsy...now that the quarantine has come about, I have begun Art Journaling and have been having fun with that but, watching this video, I want to get my fabrics back out....I might try my fancy embroidery stitches...and, I could add buttons and beads...ooooo... I am so excited...❤️❤️❤️

I am practicing, after seeing what you were doing with the collab with Ann Brooke. I have only done counted cross stitch as far as embroidery goes. I started with watching Ann's favorite stitches and got a scrap of cloth and tried them each out, So then I decided I needed much more practice before starting my snippet. I found a square of felt and covered it with some fabrics and I am practicing my stitches on that for now, I also made some suffolk puffs we call them yo yos and some hexies to play with too, So I am all for doing this with you once a week at least and I like it when you have the camera closer so we can see the stitch better. I am finding this very calming and a little challenging. I am starting to feel like I have my hands in so many pies, JJ, mixed media, making ephemera, and all that goes with JJ and now slow stitching too. haha I am loving it thanks a bunch. Hugs and Smiles Take care and continue to be safe please

Looking forward to more of this. In case you haven’t realized, those of us that are interested WILL watch. Those that aren’t, won’t and will come back for the stuff they do like to watch. I, for one, enjoy the variety of talents you have and share with us. We don’t mind long videos....I watch but if I have to go do something I stop the video and come back later. If I don’t like the speed, I speed it up.
Close up is good for these types of things.
Always good to learn new things and we all know that with the time in home we have now, we are looking for new interesting things to do!

I have my favorite laces and fabrics in a box and into my hope chest with other things that I can’t begin to cut just yet. Well , That was 3 years ago. I must admit that I haven't been watching you the last several months because my journaling has taken a dive. I loved it truly but got pulled under after having some of them on display for sale in a near by antique shop, I hadn't sold a one. I should never have offered them up for sale, but friends are insistent. I boxed up dozens and dozens of them and turned a deaf ear to my dear community of journal making friends. I have missed you so Missy Rachel. Then low and behold after getting interested in Miss Anne, I found you again thru her recommendation of your fine site. I am happy again. Always loved your needle work. I'm back and excited about visiting you everyday in your fine country. Missed Stephie and Lulu too. Love your family.

I love the idea of this Rach, so portable ( something you can just pick up and do anywhere) Ooohh... your special laces are divine 🥰 Where it is, is absolutely fine lovey... haha, yes, you could always tell when i had a big embroidery project on the go, i would have a hole in the pad of my right middle finger (that is the one i use to push the needle through) i too tried many thimbles, but they always felt really clumsy and awkward 😕 Yes, it would be great if Sarah and your mum did it too 😊 It could be like a "snippet sampler roll" with all different stitches, buttons applique bits, Suffolk puffs, hexagons, diamonds etc..... oh the ideas 🤔 😊 Sometimes i find it good to pause and hold your work upside down and let the thread and needle just hang for a couple of seconds and it will untwist and straighten out, and then you can continue without it bunching/twisting etc. I am definitely going to try this one lovey, shall try to take pics when i have done some and post on FB lovey xox 💖

OH Rachel, thank you for introducing us to Anne's textile art. And bonus that she is a leftie! I used to sit in front of my righty-Mom, who taught me embroidery when I was 10. Happy to have rediscovered that art. Your camera setup is fine. I love to see close-ups after it's finished, but I can imagine it would be hard to stitch under a camera. Keep doing what you are, you're perfectly fine. I also found your sister on YT, and love her work, too. I'm inspired! Glad things are better in Italy. Annette

Ooooh Rachel, I’m scared.😧 Sewing is not in my repertoire, I have never been comfortable with it, especially hand stitching. Will I try to follow along or will I chicken out? If you’re very good and explain every little step I might jump out of my comfort zone and try. I do everything else you show us so here goes. Shaking in fear. The next thing is do I have enough fabric, um looking for excuses. Just do it Deborah. I wasn’t this scared when I went hang gliding. 😏

Very pretty. Slow stitching isn't my thing to make. I prefer to use the machine, but this is beautiful.

I love this slow stitching project. It was relaxing just watching you stitch along. Been a long time since I did this kind of stitching but am definitely going to pull of some fabric and swatches and start a project. Would be nice to work on while watching tv. Thank you!

I used to hand stitch all the time in appliqué and quilting. I am going to do this as well. We have to stay home until the 30th of this month or even longer. This will be fun🤗🤗🤗

I thoroughly enjoyed this video!!!! I use to embroidery YEARS ago and had forgotten the stitches but watch you is bringing it all back!!!! I love this idea and I certainly hope I can do this!!!! I have bad rheumatoid arthritis in my hands so probably won't be able to, but I'm going to give it a try!! Wish me luck!!!! And, now I am going to go see Anne's YT and see what she does!!!! I have never found your hand in the way....so don't worry about comments like that and no, I never find anything you do boring either so another thing to not worry about. If I don't, I am sure most of your loyal followers feel the same way!!!! Hugs, and take care of yourselves...I've heard Italy is suppose to be getting on the downslope of the virus....praying that's true!

Roxy, thanks for the intro to Anne. I put mine on instagram, but got the 2 people I follow mixed up, so it says Tilly's when it should be Anne. But the oriental girl is Yumikohigivchi. She is so exacting. Wish I could be at least 50% of that exactness. Lol

Your fabrics and laces are so beautiful! I don't like to hand-stitch at all, so this would not be for me but I love it when others do it! I have subscribed to Anne's YT channel though. It is interesting to watch! xo

Loved the slow stitching strip. Definitely going to do the project. I just wish I had access to the old fibers you get in Italy. They are lovely. I use a leather finger cap because with anything else I tend to hold the covered finger in the air. LOL! I think to be able to enjoy what you do, you need to just go ahead and use the angle and camera placement that is best for you. I was taught to cut a length of thread that is about shoulder to shoulder ( or 18 inches long). It has to be replaced more frequently but rarely tangles. You can also run it through bees wax. The circle is a great take on making the blanket stitch more decorative. Thanks so much for your inspiration.
