My hubby is very creative. He has made me a special present for Christmas for the last 5 years! I think I'll get some Portland cement and surprise him with a craft day next Saturday!! Thanks for the great ideas and instructions. I think the Bird House or Bird Bath will be so fun to decorate but I sure could use the pots. We are in Seattle so rainy season is coming. I'd better get to it outside while I can. :) God bless.

Oh, how fun! I have wanted to work with sand since I was a little girl, but I've never done it. ONe year, for my birthday, my husband brought me several bags of cement!!! ha. My mom, sisters and I made hypertufa leaf impressions. We used rhubarb, fig, oak and maple leaves. Fun to do!

I've never seen that color sand before. It's beautiful, & love this project.
A stiff bristle in wood floor scrub brush would help when rinsing the sand out, washing the sand off the table, & to help remove most of the sand & ferns. And then again, to partially fill it with water, to scrub the remaining dried ferns away.

I have watched several of your videos today, I subscribed and I'm getting ready to share on my Facebook page. I love that all of your crafts are so organic. We certainly have a lot of similar interests. I love your chimes and all of your dangly things. I have the same in my garden. I also love and feed my backyard birds. Of course, I'm feeding the chipmunks and squirrels right along with the birds. Helen, thank you for sharing your crafts and art on video. Watching you has made me feel a lot braver about just jumping right in and doing any craft/art. Sometimes the mistakes turn out to be a blessing!

Beautiful...I may try to dip a fern in paint then lay it on surface to get a fern galore theme......or leave fern in place and spray with a shellac or something..you've inspired me..I really like the mold idea...I'm in process of birdbath project now... Lol...may need to add more mixture..
