    I have grown my own weed indoors in a 4'x4' grow tent using either 400 watt, or 600 watt HPS lamps for about thirty-five years and have often considered trying LED lights but have never found a good reason to change what I am doing. My results have always been very good. Also, every LED manufacturer claims their lights are the best, and they are all expensive. I wouldn't know who to trust. I will just stick with what I know.

      Plus there has been a legacy of them being shady about how much power they actually draw/give. I've seen brands claiming 1000 watts but then you read the fine print and see that it only pulls 200 watts from the mains!

      You've got the right idea my friend. High pressure sodium and metal halide are the best. They're your friend especially when you know them and know how to work with them. The only reason I think anyone would use LEDs at all is to achieve the savings that manufacturers tout. However, the savings they promise you don't happen. It's not near as advertisements would have you believe anyone will tell you that That has used them

    great interview, in my experience the best results today, qualitatively speaking, are given by a combination of CMH 630 DE dual spectrum with 2 LED bars for UV and Far Red, up until about ten years ago the best was the HPS-LEP combo, unfortunately however the LEP technology has not been evolved and the lamps on the market, despite producing a light particularly pleasing to plants, produce few ppfd compared to the recent LEDs.

I want to grow this seed that I got in some bud I bought before Christmas, the strain is blueberry gelato I haven't been able to find any videos on this specific strain on how to grow it. I'm planning on making my own nutrients for the plant, will I be able to make my own nutrients and add it to the plant, like used coffee beans and things like that or will I just be experimenting at that point, I don't want to buy 2-3 bags of different types of soil. This is my first grow and I want it to be completely natural and just absolutely amazing. I understand that the lighting will be experimenting a little bit, I definitely want to mix the lights together, I just am not sure how I should attempt this lmaoo, my bf is going to buy the lights, we just don't know what grow lights to get. There’s a reason you didn’t get a reply on this question. If you asked this question the answer is pretty obvious. 5x5 or 10x5???! Are you planning on running just 1 or 2 lights with that small 10x5? What is then btu of your ac , do you have a sealed room? This podcast is for the guys running bigger grows, you need way more space then a 5x5 or 10x10. Do you have a trolmaster to use 2 hps and led? This podcast isn’t for tents/small grows. Build a fully sealed 20x20 or preferably 20x30 x 16 ft high sealed building (make sure r20 spray foam insulation 3.5-4inch thick lat the very minimum. Then you can implement this.

    • @glenncanoot
      @glenncanoot 3 месяца назад

      because the plants thrive better with the ideal spectrum ratio... Green red bleu ir uv it all benefits each other when it is the same balanced spectrum as in nature or what the plant prefers best (you will learn as you grow the same strain a few times). Also the plants dont run on visible light alone and most lights are boasting their efficiency based on visible light (photons) when in reality the more "inefficient" (on paper) light can produce more bud because there is more yellow/red light emitted for example (reading lower ppfd per diode/per watt consumed than bleu light but try growing weed with only bleu diodes.... it will be shit.) I have mars hydro fce 4800 and for whatever reason they didnt even put uv/ir in them (causing bad quality for sure) and very low amount of deep red probably to sell their deep red/uv christmas style lights later on... So enlighten yourself about the lights first because there are alot of money grabbing shit companies out there dont wanting u make good bud but want to rip u off too... I start (veg) with a light that emits more bleu light. I hang a light emitting more yellow/red when i switch flowering and back to bleu light at the end of flowering just like in nature. I feel like switching the spectrums speed up the flowering process.

    • @TheNomad2727
      @TheNomad2727 3 месяца назад +1

      one factor is the diodes they use........the "better" brand lights will use the "top bin diodes" . Apparently when those tiny little lights are made they get tested as each one works a little differently quality-wise. Then there is the quality of the materials used in the parts for example the most expensive lights will be made of thicker metallic frames which help with heat dissipation Etc etc I've got some really pricey LEDs (HLG Diablo) to some cheapies (Bloom plus) and there is a difference. That said there are some really good cheapies out there as the best value light I ever got was the VIPARSPECTRA XS3000 Pro. it was a fifth the price of the HLG and almost as good.

      @@whitetiger5181 the price on the HLG 350 Diablo (Australian dollars was about $900) and I average around 5 to 6 oz per plant (Autos) if I only used the cheaper lights Id get about 3.5 to 5 oz. But its alot more than just lights to get the ultimate yields like nutrients, flushing. LST etc etc

One is a single COB diode that draws, and Im not kidding, 170 watts. For one diode. It burnt itself out though, only half the diode is working. Guys like you are making weed nerdy. Hell yes trap rooms. I am in Canada and I will always refer to my business as “trapping”. Don’t forget most of us growers were infact trapping since early 2000s out here in Canada before it became legal. And after legalization , most of the growers went legal. Legal market crashed, now everyone is trapping again in Canada. You’re the culture culture man! We started growing i am an old head, and when we did it it was illegal. When we still do this, we mostly are grey market. Legal market shitty quality and no money. If there’s no money what’s the point. The point is the best herb, lots of money. Anyone who says they grow and don’t care about the money well that’s a lie or they are lost in the sauce. 🤯 Growers need to eat too, drive nice cars too? Why shouldn’t we ? We risked our freedom for this plant. That means we were aka trapping. Real gangsters we were, still are. Time in jail, raids, arrests. That’s all trapping culture. Anyone that’s not on this trap culture are the ones who were scared to do it when highly illegal. Real recognize real. I don’t respect pussy ass growers who are scared to break the law. Don’t forget the weed game is an outlaw community that will always be there. Weed is gangster don’t forget that. There will be an entrenched gangster culture within the cannabis industry . If you don’t like it , so be it. I hate the hippy culture , but hey it’s still apart of the cannabis culture as a whole. Stop trying to divide people and vilify them for still being trap oriented/ gangster. This gangster shit in our blood so is this plant. Nothing wrong with having Both. I’m from Canada it’s been legal here since 2018. “Traps” “trap lines/ trap services, “trap grows” “trap crews” is the language most people use here in Vancouver Canada…. It’s been legal here since 2018… still Refered to as trap because most people don’t participate in the legal market in Canada it’s all grey market/black market fire.

    On paper led is king, on paper a high end led light emits 220 lumens per watt, while a high end hps light emits max 160 lumens per watt. A led produces more "light" per watt of electricity consumed vs HPS.

      Once again the efficiency of LEDs being trumpeted but what about the final product? HPS still king.
