Omg I wish everyone would demo amps this way on RUclips. Room mic, every bit of hum, hiss and string noise left undisguised. I can tell exactly how it would sound if I was right there in the room with it. Perfect 👌
Alot of people hate on this guy in interviews but man he's such a great guy imo as well a an excellent player and just straight up down to earth kinda guy lol 👍
Why on earth would six people give John a thumbs down. Because of his awesome playing and the sweet tones of his sweet gear? Or is it his taking time out to show us some of his sweet vintage gear? Or perhaps it’s his cool personality and vast knowledge he’s sharing that causes the down thumb? Thanks for the excellent video to entertain us during these crazy times! Thumbs up 👍
a few years ago I worked in a small guitar shop doing repairs and setups . We bought , sold and traded gear , both vintage and current . We had a '64 Vibroverb that was almost cosmetically perfect . And the tones were to die for . I love tube tremolo . I spent more than a few after hours wailing away plugged into that beast . Sadly , a guy from Richmond Va. bought it for his studio collection and life was not the same ...
Love that FAT 15" speaker tone. This is a great example of how a 15" speaker can give you a much fuller sound than 12's. Where a 15" speaker really shines for a guitar amp is in it's versatility. In an open back cab it has a better capability to retain a fuller sound when moderately driving the signal or when you roll your guitar volume back. While 12" speakers accentuate mid's better, a 15" can compensate for this by tweeking your bass, mid & treble controls on your amp.
Hey John. I saw you responded to a comment about people hating on you. I think you interview well. And you have appreciation for artists. I’ve seen video of you playing in a big ensemble and you are a pro performer. Shame on those who would bring hate your way. They be punks. Cheers!
Man, I don't even like sunburst finishes that much (except for cherry) but that Strat looks amazing! And of course, John makes it sound fantastic! Thanks for another awesome video.
John, you made no mention of the 64 Vibroverb reissue with the factory installed Cesar Diaz mods like what was accomplished with SRV's amp. One mod was a switchable tube or SS rectifier. The reissue (late 90's, early 2000's, maybe) where only available for a couple of years. Amazing amps. Unfortunately I forgot what speaker they put in it, but they sure sound great.
Loved your amp demo and was glad to hear your settings. I'm very fortunate to have been able to find one locally even with original foot switch back in 07' and have played it ever since. It came from a dude who said he used to open up for The Ramones. He wanted $3+K, but when I played through it, it sounded terrible so I got it for $1,800. Took it to his amp tech who found a torn speaker, threw a Webber speaker in it and has been nothing but a pleasure. You may want to try a Keeley Fuzz Head and Way Huge Green Rhino with your strat some time. They work great at that vol 3 you mentioned. cheers lefty
I have a headstrong 63 clone. I have some more expensive amps, but it blows them all away. I want a 64 now! And maybe a tweed vibrolux. 🤔😂 Thanks for a great video.
Take the out from the re-VERB tank and run it into the front of the amp (NORMAL Channel) ... remove most of the bass and run up the treble full, maybe up the BRIGHT switch ... you will love it. OF course, you need a couple of mod cables to make it work.
That Vibroverb is very resonate isn't it, thats what what I hear? A very nice wet sound. Did SRV use it in addition to his whirletzer? I love Rig Rundown. What iso mic are you using?
I built my own from a blackfaced ‘68 Bandmaster Reverb head, new cab, faceplate and vintage JBL d130f. It still needs a larger output transformer , but it sounds like the real thing, just not as much $$$$.

mk win I agree, it’s authentic and it gives a true account of the gear
thank you
I think you just called him fat? 😂😅

Who hates on him?.....great player
RUclips needs more Bohlinger. 👏🏼🤘🏼
I like how John plays "Lenny" his own way, shows he has his own style.
Yes. As much as I love SRV ... I HATE when other players try to duplicate him ... SO tired of it.
no point trying to cop SRV... that dude was touched by the hand of God.
Guys, Doesn't matter if someone try to copy nor do it in they're own way. just keep the SRV spirit alive through his music

Thanks Ben
He’s such a good player.
Yup, lucky enough to have seen him play a club in Nashville this year
"That's killer, man!" - John's voice

Truly masterful playing, You did that amp proud. Thank you once again.
Always classy playing. Always informative.

Great sound!
Awesome playing as always - love your work
Well done Brother! Thanks for sharing John, Thanks Premier!
Be Well All!
Sounds damn good with some dirt and the slide !!!!!!!
Beautiful playing and great overview.
You are the coolest man thanks
All time dream amp. Has that beautiful slightly grainy breakup that you dream of with a Vibroverb.
Sounds perfect.
Such a badass amp! Great playing as always.
Man, I miss SRV. Great video and playing!

Great rendition of Lenny, it's nice to see someone add their own character and inflections.
Love that amp. Hankered after one for a long term me. Love your playing btw

Loved the playing especially when you first plugged to the 335

I've played those. They were great.
Beautiful Sounding Amp Beautiful playing John ❤🎸👌👍👍
I confirm voltage: sweet spot near 108 V: they get almost silent running and bloom!
Killer Verb!

my favo "clean amp" ever is the vibrolux specially the ones with 2.10 speakers
This beautiful amplifier also came equipped with a 15 inch altec
Please do a rig rundown of the band Health once concerts start again.
The Gibson.🤩🤩
Great video
you have quite the Quiver, John!
Hi! Awesome playing! What is the speaker you are using?
Nice musical playing broski.
I have a headstrong 63 clone. I have some more expensive amps, but it blows them all away. I want a 64 now! And maybe a tweed vibrolux. 🤔😂
Thanks for a great video.
I have a late 64 Bandmaster head and cab. No reverb, but that's alright. It was given to me.
I have the, slightly mod'ed , 64 Vibroverb RI..
Ok let me try it now....
Personally, I’d like the reverb dialed back just a tiny amount. But that sounded absolutely amazing.
Damn that opening segment is so tasty. I gotta go practice.

Gotta try that
@@johnbohlinger I hope it worked well for you. Nice Stratocaster and FINE sounding Vibroverb!
"Regrettably I sold it because I'm an idiot..." ha. ha :) 12:03
I used to have a 74 Vibrosonic reverb that was blackfaced and had a 15" SRO. Pretty close to a Vibroverb
Holy john mayer tone

filming on an Iphone alone during quarantine.
John you are fuckin classy dude. Keep it up!
Is this one original, or is it the 64 re-issue with the Caesar Rojas mod?
John do you ever play bass , take care , stay safe , God Bless
yes, but not well.
Is the Strat tremolo decked or floating?
floats
Bass on 10?
how much voltage are you running through your blackface? 110? 115?

Nice job man.
what i'd give to put some gloss on that frame to his right.
Good to see others are desperate for a haircut as well during this covid era!
Fun video - but I hear no baritone in that Tele.
I think he meant B-bender Tele. Typo or slip of the tounge.
Had one 10 years ago.. traded for a two rock
I shalt not covet your Vibroverb.
Great video.
Anyone else wanna build their own vibroverb style amp w/ a single 15?
Yes. I did twice.
Keep waiting for something on his shelf to his right to fall off...
it's a precarious perch.
