- This is a horse packing trip I had been wanting to do for some time. Pack into the headwaters of the Greybull River west of Meeteetse Wyoming in the Washakie Wilderness. It did not disappoint me , great times in the mountains. Some of the best wilderness views I have ever seen and some good fishing. After exploring the Greybull River we then traveled west across mountain passes into the Boulder Basin Drainage and then down to the Shoshone River drainage where we packed out.
I toke this pack trip about 6 years ago. Many friends encourage me to make a flick of this trip and post it on youtube. Here it is, hope you all enjoy it.

When I was younger, I got to see the southwest, but I never seen the northwest. I wish now I had. I have a mild form of MS and I am 71. So thank you for this. I love this so much. I have been watching as many of your videos that I can. It made me want to really learn to ride on a horse.
Thank you for posting beautiful videos.
Our pleasure!
A trip like this has been my lifelong dream!
it was look up my other videos on finding the head waters of the Yellowstone River That was a great trip also
This brings back memories from when I lived in Cody, and worked out of Meeteetse. I spend many days in that wilderness, packing in on horseback, fly fishing. I always saw moose where the Greybull River bottom was wide and full of willows. We even got up on the divide between the Wood and Greybull rivers in 1988 when it was dry and Yellowstone had that big fire. Wonderful country.
I am glad you enjoyed it

Beautiful video, my wife killed a big bull way back in there. A lot of griz during hunting season made it interesting. That and the pony taking off and heading for home .

What trips are you planing in 2022, I would be interested in going.
Where are the cows that are balling in the background?
there is some in grazing leases up there
Really beautiful country. How is it for bears? Lots of them or are they not an issue in that area? They are starting to become a nuisance up here in NW Montana for horse back camps.
On this trip did not see any sign of bear a few wolves howling at night far off. They tell me it is different during hunting season
How many miles in?
Did you start at the end of Pitchfork Rd?
Yes we did. Then finished on the Shoshone River
