- 80cc mini bike gas engine conversion to electric motor. I used a 2000w, 48 volt electric motor kit with a 48v , 20AH battery. I also had to reverse the direction of the motor which is shown here.

Hey, man - great video. Really helped my son and I out. We picked up a MMB80 and a 72V, 4900RPM motor kit and were stumped on how/if we should add the freewheel that came in the kit. Doesn't look like you used one and still had success so we're going in that direction

@@Andrew-wv6ky It stalled due to family problems. I sent it to the Mini bike Expert and he built me a bike that was out of this world. Problem was...someone ELSE thought it was out of this world too and it got STOLEN! That's the 2nd Speedy to be snatched by scumbags in the Phoenix Area. Now we don't know what to do. I had a whole bunch of smaller videos I was going to make a big compilation video out of as the build up to the return of Speedy II but now that it's gone...it's kind of pointless.
I want to do this with a Baja Heat frame I have, which is a bit larger with 19" tires.

I just bought one of these that starts but won’t run. Wanted to make it electric honestly thanks for the video! Any ideas how many miles you get on that battery? How loud is that motor compared to the gas one?
I need to do a thorough test on the miles. It’s pretty far. I don’t hear the motor at all. It’s silent. The only noise the bike makes is the chain on the sprocket.

this controller have a reverse fonction you didnt need to switch the motor phases, btw nice work
Thanks. I searched and couldn’t find it.
In fact you were right by doing this because the reverse function on this controller makes the motor spin backward but at a very slow speed, so to run at full speed in reverse the only solution is to swap phases
I’m wiring this exact setup on my mini bike. Not getting the motor to turn. Using a 60v dewalt until I can get a big battery. Anything that I might have missed?
The only thing I didn’t leave on was the kill switch

That’s a good question. I haven’t done any sort of distance testing, but that battery last a very long time for me.

About $800 but you could save some money and get a smaller battery.
