    I met and hung out with Mike when AIC were on tour with Van Halen. He was very down to earth and nice to hang out with. He even waited outside of the venue, the next night at a time we agreed upon, and got us into the show for free as his guests. Cool guy.

    Bless you Mike... Many of us know the struggle . Don't judge people... If you have never struggled with addiction.... You don't know.

      I agree...
      People who have been through this situation are the only ones who really know what it feels like.
      It's tougher than many people can realize and one can never let his guard down.

      I had been into drugs for many years. Heavy drugs I say. With my family's help and acceptance I was able to make myself whole again. Sheer determination to change and kicked out my drugs habit. Anyone could survive from addiction if an addict is determined. The great physician Hippocrates once said,"Before you heal someone, ask him if he's willing to give up the things that made him sick"

      Although it's by no means easy to kick and go through withdrawal, even with subs or other meds to help ease the withdrawal symptoms. But to maintain.....that is the issue. I have some close family members who have kicked about 30 times or so. ....And one time for well over a year; and guess what? Sobriety can sometimes be boring. Regardless ....Never stop trying to quit, and never stop supporting those you love.

    I was so sad to hear about his death. He seemed like such a very sweet man who was trying so incredibly hard to beat his addiction. People don't understand addiction. Once it takes over your life it is like being possessed and it is so awful. It is a horrible disease. I am just so, so sorry that he is gone.

    The man tried,but did not succeed.Heroin ravishes the body,and rapes the soul.I cannot begin to imagine the torment he experienced.Addiction is a vicious beast.At least he tried to break away.I hope he has finally found the peace,and tranquility that eluded him here.Godspeed,Mike.

    I can't believe Mike is dead! Such a loss. I haven't heard anything on the news. I watched the Dr Drew episodes he was on and he did look so depressed, rarely smiled, it's too bad a good looking, talented man. His father didn't help matters with his own drug problem. It's ironic because I have Alice in Chains CD in my car right now. They were an awesome, talented band. RIP Layne and Mike!

      I believe in an after life. Ive studied a lot on astral projection and OBE's. We are not our bodies, we are multidimensional consciousness. We enter the astral dimension when we separate from our physical bodies, there is no death. Just a transition from one reality to the next.

    • @thatbennyworth
      @thatbennyworth 9 лет назад

      MoveitorLoseit2 begging your pardon, but I've found no verifiable proof for any continuance of existence of what we call "I," in whole or in part, beyond the life of the human brain. perceived OBEs are likely to be the result of endogenous DMT sourced in the pineal gland. tales of so-called astral projection are likely the result of ppl in highly suggestive states 'experiencing' the fabrications of their minds, or another's suggestion(s).
      I try to avoid words like 'believe' and prefer to keep things malleable, and myself open to new information. if someone could show any empirical evidence of a continued existence, I'd be shocked, but I'd accept it. Until then, I prefer to live as if this is my only chance to get things right. it is my opinion that a belief in an afterlife is one of the more destructive aspects of most major faiths (including new-age spirituality) and is detrimental to humanity.

    • @MoveitorLoseit2
      @MoveitorLoseit2 9 лет назад +8

      ontabettathings ok then, go ahead and believe that nothing happens when you die, that your conscious awareness dies with your physical body, then worms eat your rotting corpse,, the end. It's just not something I accept. Everyone has their opinion. Peace

    Mike, Rest in peace Brother, The marks you've carved on our music industry will forever play on as some of the greatest music of our times. People, take the sacrifice these great musicians have made as a lesson and remember that drugs respect no one, Janice, Jim, Jimmy, Layne, Mike, all lives lost to an epidemic that we CAN stop if we educate our children and future performers. Put forth an effort to stop the heart break! God Bless, Rest in Peace, Jam on Brothers and Sisters!

    It is easy to be critical and righteous and even angry at people like Layne and Mike, How could they not have been happy? they made it after all? Truth is, yes they did, but at what price? These people worked years to get their moment and when the moment came it was way more than they had ever dreamt of. Have you seen the live footage? could you perform in front of all of those crowds? Thank you Layne, thank you Mike, for what you gave us while you were alive. Criticize, no. Wish you were still here? Yes!

    From what I saw and heard in an interview. He took a xanax and consumed alcohol. So it wasn't even the drugs that he was addicted too. If you mix alcohol with any type of benzodiazepines, they say it could kill you instantly. You could take just 1 and drink a beer and it would kill you. That just sucks. I hate when people are trying to better themselves and things like this happen.RIP Starr

    Opana was my "go to" drug as well an id turn to heroin when I couldn't cop, but I dunno you can name em all there all opiates and they will eventually kill you. if your sick or suffering get help! 8 years of my life and money wasted on that shit. Music was the only thing I had left when I was struggling with my addiction(probably the only thing I didn't sell to fund addiction),and Ironically music greatly aided me in my recovery ... RIP Mike and Layne

      God, Opana....You get that constant rush for a while...Great shit. I'm in the process of getting of Subutex....I IV'ed all these things as I'm sure you did, so you know the needle is an addiction in itself....Fuckin' sucks.

      whoohaaXL Yes, man hope you get it together I don't know how long you been at it but the sub route saved my life! I consider myself lucky as my life is no longer an insane nightmare...
      I actually never was fond of needles when I was using heroin. My nose was the primary delivery method,I actually preferred it for some reason. Yet you have a good point, a close friend of mine who is clean now was actually in the habit of IVing his over the counter meds! and is 100% clean regarding any other narcotic substances over the past 2 years but it made for some entertaining screwy conversations at out-patient rehab just goes to show how fucking crazy we junkies are and the term "we turn everything into our drug of choice " couldn't be further from the truth but if you apply that school of thought to your recovery as I was also a hardcore alcoholic it can be somewhat beneficial as it is today as I tend to drink bottled water like its nobody's business...
      Anyhow goodluck!!!

But ethanol and nicotine will be the death of me if I don't do something about it...soon. Mike was 4 or 5 years older than I am. In 1987 I was 16 so he would have been 20 plus years old not 10. Do math before trying to call out a person for. Lying . I quit smoking pot a few years ago but did start at 12.
      Sadly I wish he had only been smoking pot he might still be alive.

    His spirit died long before his body much like Layne. When they kicked him out of chains that was it for him. His dreams were crushed and he was a dead man walking. I really wish they would have gave mike time off to get clean than gave him another chance. I’m sure he would have lived. You see they didn’t kick Layne out but Layne pretty much abandoned them when they kicked mike out. Layne loves mike. That shit ruined the band.

    It's kinda like a cycle if you think about it. For example: Demri died, and Layne gave up and let himself go. Layne died 6 years later, and Mike Starr was never the same after that. I think Mike died for the better. I wish he was still alive, but maybe he didn't anymore.

    The officer on the phone sounds a bit like Nikki Sixx.
