    For anyone in nursing school, these videos are a perfect addition to your study routine. Professors have to teach everything from a chapter and their lectures can flood you with an overload of information. Im going through OB/PEDs right now and the videos on this channel give you the major points that you NEED without the excess material.

    Hello nurse Meris! I got a 100 for my ATI proctor exam, and I wanted to come back here and personally thank you for helping me study. You have no idea how I love you and your lectures! I followed too using my flashcards. I cannot believe I did it! Thank you!!! ❤

    Thanks for the video. I wish you would have discussed the difference between an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and an oral glucose challenge test (GCT). I see these two test mentioned frequently in my Saunders Comprehensive Review.

      OGTT and GCT are both tests used to assess how well your body processes sugar (glucose), but they differ in purpose, procedure, and when they are used. Here's a breakdown:
      **Glucose Challenge Test (GCT)**
      * **Function:** A screening test, often used for gestational diabetes in pregnancy.
      * **Procedure:**
      * Simpler and quicker than OGTT.
      * You drink a sugary drink (usually 50 grams of glucose solution).
      * Blood sugar is measured after one hour.
      * **Interpretation:**
      * Not diagnostic on its own.
      * A high blood sugar level indicates a need for further testing with an OGTT.
      * More convenient and better tolerated than OGTT, reducing unnecessary OGTTs for those unlikely to have diabetes.
      **Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT)**
      * **Function:** A more comprehensive diagnostic test for diabetes (including gestational diabetes)
      * **Procedure:**
      * Requires fasting beforehand (typically overnight).
      * Blood sugar is measured fasting (baseline).
      * You drink a larger amount of sugary drink (usually 75 grams of glucose solution).
      * Blood sugar is measured again at specific intervals after drinking the solution (often at 1, 2, and 3 hours).
      * **Interpretation:**
      * Provides a more detailed picture of your body's sugar processing throughout the test.
      * Blood sugar levels at each time point are compared to established diagnostic criteria for diabetes.
      **Here's an analogy:**
      Think of the GCT as a preliminary taste test. It's quick and easy to see if something is off. The OGTT is like a full meal where they assess your ability to handle different sugar levels throughout.
      **Additional Points:**
      * There are variations in the amount of glucose used in both tests and the specific timing of blood sugar measurements.
      * Some organizations recommend a two-step approach, starting with a GCT and following up with an OGTT only if the GCT results are high.
      * Always consult your doctor for specific instructions and interpretation of your test results.

    Thanks for sharing. Good info about the dangers of this terrible lifestyle disease. But I'd change the bad advice of spiking the glucose with a candy or juice, even though you mentioned protein. It was that kind of sugar spike a couple hours ago that caused the issue now that you're seeing.
    Exercise often, reduce sweets and beverages and machine made foods, cook your own fresh whole food meals. Don't eat often
