I am so grateful for your video. I had a cheap guitar cord break off in the combo jack... the sleeve came out but the tip was stuck down in the jack. Couldn't pull it out from the front even with needlenose pliers. So, I needed to get this thing open to get to the back side of the combo jack. Your video showed me exactly how to get it open, and I was able to push the broken piece from the back with a tiny screwdriver. When I was trying to determine if I needed to take off the allen screws and knobs on the front, I thought "I wonder if just by chance someone has made a RUclips video showing that." And yes! You had done it exactly. Much appreciated. So even though this was your first techie/repair video, and even though you thought your hands were in the way, etc... it was still a great video and very helpful. Big applause for you!
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! After dropping my 202HD several times (Doh!), my USB connector is doing the same thing. It powers up, but my computer stopped recognizing it. After uninstalling and reinstalling the Behringer driver and still having problems, I’m hoping this will fix it. Thanks again and all the best to you!
Hey thanks for the feed back and no problem! As I’ve recommended your should replace the faulty connector ASAP! But this fix will get you ready in a pinch!
Hey thanks for the feedback! I hope it’ll help you in a pinch. Also if you need to replace your female port here’s the exact replacement. Unfortunately it’s cheaper to get a few extra www.amazon.com/dp/B00XP5D5AO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Vk47Eb7WW88TY
i have stronng noise of preaps that is only mic, can u help me get rid of the high shhhh noise from preamps? when kept at 12 i can hear the noise shhhhhhhh, pls help
All preamps will inherently have noise. Especially those in this price range. I would recommend checking your cables first (in between your mic and interface, and inbeteeen each speaker and the interface) hope that helps!
@@VelocityRecordingStudio can it also be the reason why my window 10 is not seeing my sounding card ? because my sound card is having similar issues even when their is power
I have the umc1820, which is the big brother to this. Was hoping to see a balance pot in there, but from the angles you showed, I do not see one, so it's unlikely mine has one either. Mine has developed an issue where the right channel output (both headphones & main) is significantly louder than the left. Guess if I want to fix it now, I'll have to get really handy at circuit-level troubleshooting :(
Bit of a long shot, I have a UMC404HD that has its D1 diode fried, it is a 3 pin just after the usb socket (marking "P5") and from the video it looks if this model has one too. I suspect ot is some arrangement of zener diodes but since mine is fried I cant tell in what configuration. I was wondering if youd ve so inclined could you do some continuity or voltage tests to help me along? Many thanks!
I'm dealing with some issues on the 404HD as well just opened it up and gonna start testing components tomorrow. I'll let you know if mine is fried for not and give your a reading. What issue are you having? Mine currently isn't registering as a device or connecting at all to my PC and the switch on the back isn't turning on the voltage light.
As I recall, it wouldn't stay consistently powered on when connected via USB this is the only component I can see that is obviously discoloured. I am nearly certain it's a zener diode configuration but I wanted to know continuity readings on a working one to try and determine which config it was
Super glue isn't great for this type of job. A blob of solder across the metal join on top and sides would be better. Better still just replace the connector. Requires some soldering skills. Have just bought this unit so very interesting to have a peek inside of yours. Thank you for that.
Agreed and ultimately I did replace. This videos key points were to give owners of the interface a peak inside and to assist those who need it repaired asap with what you have.
This type of video is almost dangerous. Many people with neither the soldering skill or wits to figure out what's going on will attempt this and mess up their hardware. I did my own HD500X USB port as they have issues, but that's not my first rodeo as electronics has been my hobby for years. Anyone attempting this without prior soldering/board experience stands a high chance of destroying their equipment. If you're going to do it, remember to buy a 'solder-sucker', a good iron with temp control, and some solder wick. Never hold the iron on the board more than about 3 seconds or you risk lifting the trace you're trying to solder to, and then you're effed. Now I see what you're doing and how it's loose. I would use flux and put a blob of solder on each corner to secure it. Maybe superglue it first if it makes you feel better. Better replacing the entire USB-B port. They are about 10cents on Ali Xpress.
Crims0n thanks for the comment! That’s actually what I did a few wks later! I needed the part fixed that day, for my live stream the following morning. So i intended on this to be a fix in a pinch video. Plus there are not very many disassembly videos out there for this!
Could you tell me if with this inserts is possible to use external effect racks in a mix post record? Or it just works for the moment you are recording?
hey, thanks for the dissassembly video! just wanna ask something out of main issue in the video in case maybe you understand the problem i have now. so recently, i plugged the dc power into my behringer umc404hd, somehow i put the wrong adapter that wasn't the original adapter that comes within the umc404hd (in this case the adapter has a different volt and amp wattage), and then my audio interface suddenly got glitched where the all light indicator from the input knobs turns on, but my computer doesn't detected any usb inputs. i've changed the usb cable, and turns out the same. im worried that i fried my interface or something. do u have any suggestion or solution that maybe i need to disassembly my interface to check out something inside? thanks!
You more than likely fried it. If your power supply inverts the polarity it outputs a view voltage then it very well could be done for. Sorry friend. At that point you would be better off getting a new one.
The glue lasted just fine! I ended up selling and upgrading not long after. Just remember the glue was for a temporary fix get a new port as soon as you can.
Eu não faço isso, de colar o conector, eu já troco por um novo, veio pra eu consertar uma Behringer FCA1616 com esse problema no conector USB, eu troquei por um novo, ficou excelente o serviço.
This was a great video and we didn’t really have trouble seeing like you thought we did lol. Quick question, I’m here because I damaged my combo jack. My interface fell off my desk with the xlr mic cable plugged in. The combo jack is now at an angle and doesn’t receive sound out of that specific combo jack. If someone replaces the connector/combo jack, woo the sound be the same as before? This is on my UA Volt 476p. Thanks!
Hey I’d be happy to help but I need a little bit more information what do you mean by not working like when you play something back is it only coming through one side are you not getting any audio at all have you checked the headphones on a different source do you know if they work kind of stuff like that?
Pretty "good" to be able to broke this .;) Maybe you use it on the run a lot? I always let my cables stay in the in/outputs to avoid this problem. But good fix cause it's a great budget soundcard. You can always be happy that it was possible to open without dynamite ;)
@@VelocityRecordingStudio Never ever combine kids and music until they can hold a Strat without falling :-) Well that's an explanation as good as anyone. Otherwise it's a pretty solid card.

You could just solder 2 metals together with flux
