- What a day! Dirt Perfect gives me a run down on how to use the new to him lowboy trailer. Then off into the world I go to haul his excavation equipment for the first time with this trailer. Today I haul the John Deere 120 and the Volvo 140 excavator. It was an absolute learning experience with a few fails but a few successes as well. THEN, we head up to the homestead where my friend Clint delivers his woodland mills portable bandsaw mill for us to borrow. A lot of learning in this video and a lot of firsts for the channel. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

Don't forget to put stickers (spacer strips of wood) between your planks for air drying and remember green wood will shrink as it dries. Was just going to write "Comment" for the win, but realized nobody had mentioned stickers and shrinkage.
Yup! Already have some cut up and ready to go! Thanks for looking out sir!
Yes we do love this channel and and all the learning that we are doing and so are you dirt perfect is the bomb very educated and very funny
You did a great job with the new lowboy trailer & backing it up too. Sawmill is going to be a gift from heaven.
Thank you!
@@CaptainKleeman Main thing with a mill is to stabilize the frame, so it does not move.
You know you have good friends when they trust you with their expensive equipment. 👍
It's so nice to have good friends that you can count on to help you out. Nuff said.
Great friends!
It probably took ALLOT to give that mill back to him. 🥺 So many possibilities with one of those!
Wow, That’s a lot to remember!!!😜
Awesome job loading and uploading. You will get used to it. Remember to keep the truck straight when dropping the trailer. Two semi trailers opens a door for an other truck. Love the videos
Appreciate the support!
I watched but am Uber busy burning 🔥 down the house.
Loved the look between you two Ha Ha
Hey thanks for watching!
Great job Captain. God bless
Thank you sir!
Good morning enjoyed your video lots to do! Donald @moneypit homestead
Thank you Donald!
Great job, I see you found the trick to picking the trailer up and letting it down to even it up. another tip if you need it, put a block under the side with the biggest gap, it will help close it up, also you mite want to cut some metal blocks to fit under the top pins in case you ever need more ground clearance
Forgot to show, it has several shims if we need them. Thanks for watching!
Watching you backing up the lowboy was awesome
Glad you enjoyed!
Hey I am from Salt Lake City UT. Really enjoy your shows. Learning A lot by watching. Other question you asked , I am an artist
Hey thanks for watching!
Only problem with borrowing someone’s mill is it will make you want one so much more once you see how much fun they are. Enjoy making your lumber.
You’re right about that! Thanks for watching
Learned a lot more about low boy. Got the welder and no scrap metal was safe. Now no tree will be safe with The Woodland. Rough cut lumber and spotty welds all over the place👍
The captain is turning into a driver 👍👍😋
Fast learner. Nice job. Can't wait to see the saw milling
Thank you sir!
Hillarious! I asked about a year ago why DP didn’t have a lowboy,, your response was, “it wouldn’t work for his application”
He didn’t have a need for it then. Things change
Mike I really enjoy your videos and commentary. Have a great day.
Thank you David!
You have a great channel and content. The knowledge you have is great. Sense of humor is awesome. Oh mylanta! Lol
Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for accentuating my ignorance, Bud! Great learningness on your end. :-)
Hey thanks for always tagging along with us sir!
Well done on the truck and trailer! Just a thought. You can(if DP wants to) load and unload an excavator from the side without disconnecting the tractor from the trailer. Bulldozers must disconnect. Food for thought. Respectfully, Kevin
Mike doesn’t want us to side load yet.
@@CaptainKleeman I’m sure he wants a few scratches on her first.
One thing I learned to do was when you unhook, pull straight forward, don’t turn at all. Should be able to back straight up and be right on. Little bump if you aren’t and it should straighten it out. Just don’t ram it to hard lol rather pull with one of them anyday. Glad to see all is well capt!
Thanks for the tips!
Ah, the swan neck trailer, not goose neck !!! OK,that is what we call them on this side of the pond...😉 nothing like on the job training to really get to know the little idiosyncrasies of the swan neck !!! And you didn't pull any fittings apart, now that my friend is a winner!!! Trailer appears to have more usable space too, tag axle will make a big difference to load distribution, keep Officer Hoover happy 😁
Fantastic you have the use of the sawmill through September, this will be another learning curve, I'm sure you will have hours of fun and torment in equal measures until you master it !!
Can see plenty of cutting making its way into future videos, looking forward them Sir 👍😁💪🇬🇧🇺🇸
Looks as you got your hand full for next months😊
Nice trailer the first half dozen times I pulled one I was triple checking every thing to make sure I had my process down and the saw mill is awesome. Looking forward to more content on both
Thanks for watching!
Gr8 video nice cowboy cn green on trailer but all good know wat it is but gr8 content so glad u got sawmill and going back to 2 videos a week can't wait God bless.
Hey we are definitely excited!
@@CaptainKleeman I know y'all r, make all kind of stuff now
Looks like you a re going to have lot fun with all the new goodies.
Absolutely!
from the Netherlands thanks for the video Captain Kleeman
Thanks for always stopping by!
Captain K love the video .
Thank you Leo!
Looks like DP can make some temporary Shims on the top pins to gain a bit more front end ground clearance as well as the rear suspension.
There are some in the trailer. Forgot to show those.
Capt, you done did good 👍👍👍👍👍🤗
Thank you!
Great opportunity good fun
Definitely a good time!
Keep up with the good work u do Captain and everything will work out keep ur head up like ur doing and keep on making the videos and I'll keep on watching them
Thanks for the support!
If the hooks are not perfect square when u hook back up, keep pin unlocked and lift gooseneck up off ground, put back down and it should re-set trailer square. Might have to do twice. Then set pin try locking again
Thanks for the tip!
U did that like a pro my friend good job for ur first time
Thank you Lee!
You certainly have some great friends that’s cool
Absolutely. The best!
Exciting to see the new trailer in action. And anxious to see the reveal on 8/10.
Thanks for watching!
Little tip I found works well if your not quite straight pick the trailer up a little and set it back down it’ll help straighten it out. Doesn’t always work but when your close it does
The thing my dad always said, right after ‘measure twice, cur once” was, “never pick anything up until you know where you’re setting it down” 😉😎😆
Disconnect those brake lines from the trailer before pulling the pin up to set the trailers brakes.. trailer could slide especially loaded.
Good point
I expected your tractor's rear wheels to come off the ground when you lifted the main part the sawmill !
Mike don't worry about it there's no mirrors involved hahaha
you make a good channel mi capitan - fun to watch - always something going on.
Good luck with the mill.
Thank you!
Looks like u have alot to learn ..but thats the fun to learn new stuff
Agree!
That is why DP said about putting a new location for the speed loaders & binders ….. new low boy 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧 well done Capt
Thank you sir!
Your doing better than 50% of drivers out here everyday
Hey thanks!
Great use of the time lapse and nice backing skills!
Coming together Mike well done you will have us glued to your channel
trailer looks nice
Sure is!
Hey captain! Just remember the ground clearance on the new trailer
Yup!
Once again, great job backing miles down the road with a longer trailer, based on the position of the wheels. Is milling next or something else on the homestead? I do have an idea for your arch, but I will wait and see what you do. Have good days!
Milling is the next video. Thanks for watching!
Life is an adventure
Absolutely! Love it
Good job with the new trailer. Standing by for the next video .
This thing is awesome
you got it, man you are a genius. i guess this is why you video it. dude that's a lot to remember
WOW! Most schools don't start up again till Sept but you started early and are a certified graduate on both presentations. Lots of "preliminaries" before you can take off with the trailer. Video makes things good as you can rewatch until it all comes natural. MIKE (DP) is a great mentor & teacher (SO WHO teaches him or does he just know all this stuff?) Thank you for quite an interesting one! Stay safe! Sonny
Hey thanks for watching sonny!
1:10 Finally, someone shows how the low boy attaches to the fifth wheel.
Your maiden voyage went well now I’m really curious to see DP’s maiden voyage (in October) to see his. 😉
I’m sure you’ll love the “new” trailer and no pressure from Clint with the sawmill.
Has something to do with a fuel gauge I believe 😉
A good day for captain kleman
Indeed!
you are a brave man clint
😂😂
Haha I have full faith it's in good hands!
Great job buddy!!!
Thank you officer Hoover!
I just thought it was funny seeing a Dead End sign next to a cemetery at around 21:30 . Good Job Capt.
What else could you expect? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@bluegrallis Ha Ha
😂😂
We bought a 83 model 3 down drop deck afew years ago and compared to a 2 down rayco dove tail. , man I was shitting in HIGH COTTON. 😎
Takes a little getting used to leaving enough room to load and keeping truck straight. Good video
Thank you sir!
You are busy, talented, not afraid to learn something new, I enjoy watching you but you make me tired. Lol
Hahaha, well glad you enjoyed it!
Carry some extra air couplers for damage and warn out fittings.
Good idea!
put them in a tool box attached to the trailer with wrenches
@@CaptainKleeman never let anyone hook your air lines up for you take it from some one with experience if they come loose you probably just junked a whole set of tires trust me on that
Lots of learning curves for sure especially with the sawmill.
Excited to learn!
That's why I like for the Aspen trailers lowboys
Well done mate
Hey thanks!
Back in my day [80's] we called that trailer a drop deck a lot has changed in the design over the 4 decades all for the better and have fun sawing
Good job hooking up. You missed three opportunities to take out somebody's mailbox when you were backing up that road.... Maybe another day. That detach trailer will be nice on rainy days when the other trailer gets slippery. Much gentler tip point when you load.
You'll be practicing that hook-up in your sleep. Let Chelsea know in case you talk in your sleep. "What did you mean last night when you said, 'It's not in straight.' "
Keep a spit rag handy for when you drool using that sawmill. Drool does not look good on RUclips. I can tell. You are drooling to get started milling. Great video.
Hey thanks for watching!
You’ll be peelin the lumber off them logs now
Pete we are definitely excited about it!
There was no doubt that you would adapt. But not having a saw mill It wasn't totally a surprise you didfn't have a full plan. take your time and we all will enjoy the adventures.
I've watched so many videos on the detach lowboys and never seen them explained this fully. Glad to finally see how one works.
Hey glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
You can also side load using the goose neck. But the deck should be fully lowered
Mike doesn’t want me to except with the 304.
Captain also when hooking up to the trailer and saving you time from having to readjust the tractor what I do is pick the trailer up with the neck all the way up and set it back down most of the time this will get you the difference that’s needed just some helpful tips buddy
I’ll definitely try it!
good habit to get into is the very first thing you do unhooking is remove the service lines and electrical line
Course we love this channel, what's not to like, the two Mike's together, doing what they do best.
Thank you sir!
Hey captain great video the saw mill is asome can't wait to see you mill some logs and get some jobs done the bridge first I hope .I watch Dp. letsdig18. Diesel Creek .matt and Arron. And your Chanel is my favorite .DP is my 2nd but keep up the great work and projects .thanks for the entertainment👍✌️👌😎
Hey these are all great channels and we definitely appreciate the support!
Take your time, always think it will get hung up maybe stage a sledge and pry bar ....many have lost toes and booger hookers because of slight pressure on the system due to the lay of the land.
Good tip
WOW great video! Hope that some people put it in their list of saved content. Never know when those trailer steps come in handy. AND you give us the sawmill delivery! So FUN! Hope this video gets you 40K subs. SO CLOSE. Cheers!
It’s unreal! Never would have imagined. Thanks for all the support Keith!
5:55 the look that says it all
Run on from 23:05 and there's a lot of flex in the crossmember the arm is attached too though Mr DP might want to check.
Captain that's a whole lot to learn on the first trailer outing but I'm sure you got it two or three times and you'll have it down pat good luck man oh and that is a nice lowboy trailer you just got to worry about getting hung up be safe man
Thanks for the support and appreciate ya watching!
So much to remember from your job training to sawmill along with new equipment and getting it done , time for that a boy thanks for sharing
Hey thanks for watching!
Some tricks that helped me with the detachable goose, when you’re backing up to reattach line the fenders of truck to the outside of the last piece of wood on the deck. ( where it’s next to metal on the outside of the trailer if that makes sense) or find another reference that if you line it up it’ll get you straight. Also one thing I do just so I don’t forget, once I check the pin is locked and before I mess with anything else I hook the lines up and work my way forward. Just a routine I got into. Great video!!
Thanks for the tip! Definitely have to get in that routine
@@CaptainKleeman you’re welcome! I still double and triple check because I know my luck hahaha!
First time I have seen all the steps to use low boy.
Hope you enjoyed!
Excellent driving skills. I was staggered by the number of controls on the trailer.
I was the flag car for moving a JD combine from Vandalia, IL to the IL-Iowa border last year. It was the same style trailer but I didn't observe all the connections and adjustments. That combine was 15'8" wide and 15'8" high but not that heavy.
That’s a big haul! Would love to see pics of that
Mike, you are on a roll. Fall out of bed, no problem cause you will land on your feet. This mill is a game changer for the projects that you have coming up and I saw the tail of a dozer when DP was talking with you I think... five more days an I will know. As a after thought, your buddy was adamite about not sawing the log stops off an I got a big grin as I remember the first time I ran one and the salesman showing me the mill hit one. He liked to messed his laundry he was so imberrest. But other than dull the blade to where it can't be sharpened is all that happens. Maybe DP will get you one for a christmas bonus... hey I can dream for you
Hey that would be awesome! 😂
If you don't line up exactly straight you can raise a deck up and set it back down and it'll straighten up eventually you might have to raise it and drop it 2 or 3 times for it to walk itself over
Really a great video Captain, You hit these videos out of the park. I love watching, and Thank you for sharing.
Appreciate the support Andy!
I had often wondered how those kind of trailers worked. Great content
Thanks for watching!
salut mon beau Cap
Different terms for different country's,we call the trailer a float here in Canada.
Very cool!
Good video lots of learning today
Thanks!
5:56 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Not only are we laughing at you, but we are also laughing with you! Overall, you did an excellent job. The road clearance will be the biggest issue.
Get yourself in a routine with that RGN trailer. The 2 things to remember is the lines and the flapper that lifts the neck. Make sure Mike puts a repair kit together for the lines trust me even a guy that has been running one for awhile will get rushed or distracted and break them ( usually happens on a day with crappy weather) Also I was taught not to chain down till you pick up the trailer from a guy that I worked for, due to it can effect the bow in the trailer when you lift it chained. Same with letting it down take the tension off the chains first.
That chaining tip is a good idea! Thanks for looking out.
I like the new trailer!!! Used a different type of detach MAKE SURE THAT THE AIR & ELECTRIC LINE DOT,T POP OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It happened to me and I ran over the lines with a roller needless the company wasn't happy about it!!!!!!!!!!
That mill should be a great help!!
