Thank you for this balanced perspective. I was an avid follower of the Perry’s podcast and have since questioned their ministry since the airing of that podcast. I no longer follow them. I was so disappointed with that discourse. The irony is that SDA’s have also been supporting their ministry & may be the cause for some of their success.

Well said, well said! I was raised SDA and I am getting into the word to ensure I know the Lord for myself including what is truly the Sabbath rest. Before the Perry's podcast with Dr. Eric Mason, I truly appreciated the Perry's approach to discussing the bible and building a relationship with God. I did always wonder what their stance was on the 4th commandment, and I guess this was their indirect answer (by having Dr. Eric Mason on their podcast). I wish they had SDA representatives from the States and that could accurately explain the faith. To say it's a cult and that we're not considered Christians is way off base. May God guide all of us to the truth.

This video is a blessing and truly shows your christian character. Thank you for this video. You have gained my support. Upon watching the Mason’s interview on SDAs. I had so many questions because I really questioned the validity of this interview especially the choice of Mr. Thunder as the representative, why was he was chosen to represent SDAs (I have a personal opinion on that but won’t share) I have seen him on ministries that actually attack Seventh Day Adventism that propagate falsehoods of our beliefs and at this point I realize it is actually intentional as quotes are purposefully cherry picked without reading the full paragraph or chapter or applying context to cause controversy. You see Mr. Thunder knows just enough to get you twisted if you don’t know enough so from the outside it looks like this man is telling the truth but the more I sat and watch I realized the dishonesty in the interview and point blank that is not what SDAs believe (or rather it was vaguely expounded on and not defended with the Bible). Why not bring on a SDA that knows what we believe, why hasn’t anyone gone on that I have seen so many volunteers to do so. I am very skeptical and I started to think this must have some promotion behind it as this was very aggressive and unchristlike. It’s like asking Satan to justify the character of Christ when Satan hates him. Sorry to make this comparison but it’s the best I could think of. It’s just weird to me.
As an SDA, I love this video specifically because you showed what a cult is and asked how could thr SDA church be that. Yes we believe in EGW, however, our source is the Bible first and our beliefs are biblical. As an SDA I always come at other religions with a sense of curiosity, asking questions for clarity, asking for verses for understanding instead of judgement. We must be careful. Wise as a serpent, harmless as a dove. Thank you for speaking compassion and common sense.

I appreciate the composure and words here. Like many in the comment section I also am a Seventh-Day Adventist. Truly, it is frustrating and so disappointing to hear other Christians misrepresenting us and our beliefs. I might have thought that with the Perry’s was an opportunity to bring some clarity on the subject but it looks like that is not going to be the case.

As a COG7 member, this whole discourse about my SDA brethren and their belief system sadden me.
None of this was done in love; it was done for engagement purposes. There were recommended apologists for the SDA faith in the comments section and these were largely ignored. Instead they chose someone with an issue with the whole doctrine, rather than someone who was unbiased in their delivery.
I so love this video, and it is inspiration for even myself as an adventist to be better! Thank you my Sister! God has truly used you!💯❤️🙏🏼🔥

So a person is a child of God in SDAs’ eyes only if they support or affirm SDAsm? I want to be told when I am wrong and when my belief system is off-this is love! “Open rebuke is better Than love carefully concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”

SDAsm hates correction. It's not the method of correction or even errors that critics make that scare SDAs. What scare SDAs is the idea “we” (I'm including myself as an SDA for over 3 decades until God through Bible with the Holy Spirit’s leading (see John 16:13) got me out).
@Bredrin90 Hi how are you? My hope is to have edifying discussions about this topic. Regarding your first question what makes you ask? Do you know to what part of the video I was referring? Were you able to listen all the way through to the end? I was referring to her closing remarks. She made some wonderful observations and I simply agreed with her. I just learned about something called "New Thought". Have you heard this before? Your first question is an example. Just because a member or some members act a certain way doesn't and shouldn't identify what is an SDA. SDA is exactly what it says. Anyone who moves against that grain regardless of whether or not they call themselves an SDA is not. Have you heard of the "World Mission Church Of God"? I don't hear anyone saying they're a cult, however I have had first hand experience that they are. Would research them and at least compare and let me know which is a cult. No pressure. 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
God also says in 1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

WOOOOOOWWWWW!!!! I'm not an SDA BUT I would say I'm SDA adjacent. I'm not going to go into detail because I just want to say YOU ARE THEE MOST AMAZING PERSON I'VE EVER HEARD!!! You clearly aren't an SDA but you can appreciate and understand their position and their validity in the community. I hate to talk 'race' at all EVER but the SDA church was the first church to really TRULY reach out to the 'African American' former slaves starting immediately after their founding in the 1850s when it was not a great thing to do. They paid for river boats to troll the Mississippi to reach those people and the Perry's and Mason should really show respect on that front alone. Now granted, I'm not a brainwashed 1960s civil rights era snowflake that has fallen for the massive over exaggeration of 'racial' revisionist history but that's a whole other argument. I Fully agree about Mason not worried about being a full blown HERETIC when it comes to using controversial texts and teachings to make some fat cash off of books and RUclips monetization. I listened to Jackie Perry on BTN or BTWN or whatever the channel is that has videos with T.D. Jakes and some other slightly radical female and it's SO ironic because the way she preaches and specifically what she speaks on sounds like a SDA or a true biblical believer, front to back but then she just falls short of actually admitting what she's already saying. It's so ridiculous that OSAS, free grace for confessing the name people are the first to condemn the next man to 'hell' and claim they aren't saved even though they believe in OSAS. It's like watching leftist Democrats scream defund the police, white men are terrorists, and Israel are colonizers then you find out that 80% of the members of the government or media who claim these things are ALL married to white men, white women, and/or Jewish Zionists. You can't make that stuff up. Once again, I must say this women is literally the ONLY person I've heard speak common sense on this issue. It's so amazing there is at least ONE person I can say is definitely gonna be on that trip when the time comes. "This is a righteous 'daughter' of Israel, who has no fault in her." I am not SDA now, but I was raised SDA. I have attended various churches and currently attend a Methodist church, and there was nothing out of this world about the SDA doctrine when I compare it to other denominations. At the end of the day, they still believe Jesus is the son of God and died for their sins.

They certainly had the intention of mischaracterizing SDAs! The intention is not to call Adventist to reconsider, because as soon as the lies begin they would have lost them. It is to scare their audience into rejecting Adventists without even giving them a proper hearing. OF course mischaracterization is more effective to accomplish the goal vs. allowing someone to consider objectively and having an SDA present persuasively a coherently what they believe. Scaremongering fits their proposes better! Unfortunately for them, they are beginning to realize the Adventist following they had was bigger than they thought! I hope the scandal allows them to sale more books and increase their following based as it was the plan all alone... or maybe it would work the other way around. Maybe there are still people, adventist or not, who consider objectivity, fairness and truth as important characteristics of Christians!

Thank you so so so much for your response video!!!! I don’t blame Preston and Jackie, as they don’t know a lot about Adventism, but I am most disappointed with Elce Thunder for not telling the truth. On the other hand, I really appreciate that you are SO respectful towards people of different faiths to you, and that you are willing to call out error, say the plain truth and point all of us to having Christ-like love for one other, which Jesus would do too!!! Instead of attacking the SDA church, let's focus on our shared mission of spreading the Gospel. As Jesus said in Mark 9:40, 'whoever is not against us is for us,' and Paul reminds us in Philippians 1:18 to rejoice that Christ is preached. Let’s engage in respectful dialogue and guide with truth & love in Christ. Let's also pray for those who misinterpret the beliefs of others and vilify them.
Scripture does say too in rev 12:17 that the enemy would attack those who keep the commandments of God and testimony of Jesus Christ

This is interesting, respectfully, as one who went to seminary with Pastor Thunder, he may have been one of those extreme members when he was an sda which may explain the skewed message he gave on the perry's podcast.
I'm not condemning him, but I agree that he needs to be fair in his representation of the sda church, it sounds like he has a bone to pick and may come across as biased because of that.

That's the problem with us sdas. Pastor Thunder doesn't have a struggle because he is no longer sda. Adventism isn't the one true church as we believed it to be.

I’ve been involved with cults before. SCJ, Java witnesses, and Mormons. And I can definitely tell you that the SDA church is not a cult. Hell, as a baptized SDA myself, I eat meat, I have tattoos, I don’t know every Ellen White book on the planet, I cannot quote Ellen White to save my life lol, and I can go on. A cult would require you to be close to perfect and all those areas.

Problem with sda. Calling others cults. These groups feel the same way you do about your church. Why not tell the dear lady that sdas believe they are the remnant and that all the Sunday churches includibg her are apostates and if they don't join your church, they will never make it. I haven't watched that much of the video with them and Dr. Mason at this moment; I barely know anything about Dr. Mason.
