Heart entered the 90s with confidence. After a rough go in the early 80s, they had a big comeback with their self titled album of 1985 along with the number one single These Dreams thereafter. Bad Animals followed suit with the 2nd biggest single of 1987 with the bombastic classic Alone. As they started the new decade with their 10 studio album Brigade. It continued their chart success that dated back to 85 with their self titled Heart album. Brigade peaked at #3 on the album charts in both the US an the UK while peaking at number two in Canada, Finland, and Sweden. The lead single from the record helped carve out his success.
All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You. was written by legendary producer Mutt Lange and was said to have been written for Don Henley. Apparently the song was first recorded as "All I Want to Do Is Make Love to You" by Dobie Gray in 1979, Heart’s rendering of the song was a smash. going all the way to #2 on the billboard hot 100 half out of the number one spot by Madonna’s Vogue.
Believe it or not this is Heart's biggest hit in most countries outside of the US and the UK, as it hit number one in Canada, for a week, in Australia and reaching the top five in New Zealand and in several northern European countries. It was also nominated for a grammy for Best Group Pop Vocal Performance, another shocker, It is the only one of the band’s singles to have been certified Gold by the RIAA.
Ann tells the story of this next as well as forming the love mongers and recording music for the Soundtrack for Director Cameron’ Crowe’s love to seattle and the music scene. called Singles. Ann talks about her exposure to the Grunge scene with many big bands from the era recording at the band’s own custom built studio Band Animals in the early to mid 90s. Some great stories in this exclusive interview with Ann.

It's a shame you are not on regular tv so you can get national coverage. You are THAT good. I'd say up there with Casey Kasem and Dick Clark. Your voice is unique in which you bring in the viewer. Many props for bringing us so much information that all of us never knew, but is always intriguing to the creativity of making songs and how or why they were made.
Please do the youngsters in world a great favor and pen a book with all this info. It would be a must read for historians of music.
Lets get Professor of Rock to take over for the talentless waste Ryan Seacrest
I don't see what an upstart network like AXS TV doesn't pull this show into it's schedule. It would fit beautifully.
@@eddiez1247 ... Lol. Every generation says that. Enjoy!

I’d hate for The Prof to get sunk and eviscerated by a Book Deal, but your heart and intent are certainly in the right place. May Adam never take that pill, but may he continue to further educate the masses- as well as The Choir! All the Best.
The Heart version of Stairway to Heaven in the Kennedy Centre honours is one of the best ever live performances in the history of music, classic and modern.
Totally agree with you. It brings tears to my eyes along with my fiancé.
And his favorite bands are Motörhead and Metallica.
@@Cindee-Schnitman It brought the present members of Led Zepplin to tears as well. I think it's the best version of the song, and the best song ever sung.
They nailed it. Great performance.
Definitely brought together with Jason Bonham on the drum set. It was a magical moment of the past and future coming together for that night. 😎👍
I strongly agree
Ann Wilson's speaking voice is as beautiful as her singing voice. What a captivating person!
I agree I've always thought this.. The whole package.
I totally agree also! Wow 🤩🌻🌻
I am madly in love with her voice.
Wanted to be her "Magic Man" since the first time I saw/heard her. She's the Brass Ring ... ^v^
A classy lady who’s one of the finest singers of all time. I’ll bet she’d be fun just to sit and chat with.
Ann's speaking voice is as hypnotic as her singing voice.
Ann Wilson is so incredibly Beautiful... and her Voice is absolutely Magnificent! Ann Wilson is the Queen of Rock & Roll ♥️
I can't believe she's 70!! She looks like 50 something, still gorgeous!
I can't believe she's 70 either!... still utterly stunning!
And she's not fat anymore like in that '80s video where they had to hide her in the background so people wouldn't notice how fat she was.
She's 70? Doesn't look it
I had a "crush" on her years ago. She is still attractive...and those pipes!
One of the only benefits of being massively overweight for most of your life, you wrinkle less
Please let Ann Wilson know that she has one of the best rock voices ever heard.
She knows
She knows
I’ll tell her. Meeting at the DMV tomorrow.
she knows, believe me
Yes
I don't care if she hates that song. She slayed it like no one else could. Her voice was perfect for it.
I’m with you. Awesome song.
Totally agree
She sold the crap put of it. But it was so cheesy. I am relieved she didn't like it. Anyone who's cut demos for other artists has had to do the same thing. Modt songs are crap, but you gotta "sell" it.
Her voice is perfect. She’s amazing!!
I’ve always thought ‘who will you run to?’ Is a grossly underrated song.
That's the song I listen to the most, it rocks harder, and sounds great!!! I agree 💯 percent with you!!! 👍
How Can I Refuse as well!! I agree with you.
I cannot go into a bank without singing "How do I get you a loan."
🤣🤣🤣
Groan :)
Fuck 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i wow, i'll never think of that song the same way again!
Lmao!
Ann Wilson will probably always be my most favorite female vocalist of all time. I've heard many other very talented ladies, but she is truly unique. She looks absolutely amazing in this video too.
She is definitely the best female rock singer of all time. Anyone who can sing “Stairway to Heaven” in front of Led Zeppelin, and give them tears in their eyes, is beyond incredible. She looks gorgeous in this interview too. 🖤🖤🖤
Ann & Janis Joplin were my two faves😁👍
Ann Wilson has the most gorgeous voice of any female vocalist in the history of music. She is extraordinarily beautiful, too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Well, how about Linda Rondstadt
Whitney Houston smokes everyone.
@@DaveH-10Because she "smoked" a lot of crack or because she was cremated?
@@DaveH-10 Nah. Whitney always looked strung out to me... and as it turned out, she was.
@@Tessmage_Tessera Yeah when she hooked up with the loser Bobby Brown.
Two of the greatest female artists EVER.
The Wilson sisters will always wear the crown with me. Thank you for the music and the inspiration❤
"I think I matured past it in about 10 minutes" - spectacular!
I was 15 when Heart released their Dog & Butterfly album, and I would smoke a joint and lie in bed with headphones on and absolutely lose myself in its magic. There is so much going on in that album, instrumentally, vocally and lyrically. It was a religious experience for me. It's a shame young people today don't know the pure joy of listening to such masterfully-produced VINYL albums, especially through a good pair of headphones.
Sans the ubiquitous autotune!!! It’s amazing to ever hear a real singer anymore!
yeah, scratches, surface noise, warping, off center holes, tape hiss. Kids these days don't know what they're missing !
@@derhandtrommler That would be hilarious if any of it were true. I assume you grew up in an underprivileged home and couldn't afford even the low/mid-range equipment?

The smile, the soft voice, and the light in her eyes. She has an energy I've not seen in a while. She looks happy. That's wonderful to see.
Ann Wilson is stunningly beautiful. So sweet, yet so strong. In another age, she would have led a nation.
"Straight on" (1978) is still my favorite when it comes to Heart songs.
I love that song too, but it was recorded in 1979 for the *Dog And Butterfly* album. 🙂
@@bobthebear1246 the song peaked at #15 on 12-16-1978 on the Billboard hot 100.
Dog & Butterfly is the fourth studio album by Heart. It was released on October 7, 1978, by Portrait Records
Oh, me too!
The thing about "Straight On" that's great, is it is a "stealth disco" song.........you can slip it into a set of disco songs......the beat is there........but it's Heart doing what they do best, and doing it "on their own terms". A really slick production!!
Mine is definitely "Who Will You Run To?"
I’ve always hated that song. I actually feels a little better about Heart knowing that Ann hated it too.
It's horrible!
Same!! I have always been a HUGE Heart fan but I can't stand that song and I'm really glad to know that she hates it too. I don't know why that makes me feel so much better but it does!
I never cared for it either. once i found out what te song was about, I,too, was kinda grossed out.
Hate this song...let's talk about cheating on our husband to get knocked up...strange storyline
Terrible song. Turned the radio off when it came on.
Nobody can cover a LZ song as good as Ann Wilson. As a teen girl in the 70s who loved Hard Rock, I will never forget Heart's debut album & how amazing it was to hear girls rocking out too. And that voice...just incredible. The first 2 Heart albums & The Lovemongers stuff will remain my favorites. Saw them live in Wa a several years back & they sounded great.
Ann has a powerful, unique voice, such a great band.
These Dreams get me so nostalgic it's not even funny. Instantly in the 80s.
I agree. So underrated.
Agreed
It reminded me of the Hershey's commercials for their white chocolate. One of my few odd memories from my teenage years. ;-)
OMG. I know right? So nostalgic and one of the songs that makes me long for the 80s so bad.
My all time favourite ''Heart'' track. It only made No.62 on it's 1986 release here in Great Britain which I find very odd as it captures the essence of the 80s I feel, which I would know as I grew up in the 80s as a young boy and through my teenage years. Drive, by ''Cars'' is another classic that fits that sweet essence. Aaaaaahhh, a perfect era.
Ann Wilson is one of, If not the Greatest Female Vocalist in Rock history.
Linda Ronstadt
@@Joseph-wy2mq it’s a tough call between them
Linda had a beautiful voice
Ann has a stronger Rock voice.
She is one of the greatest vocalist (male or female)in Rock history
I just assumed this was filmed about 10 years ago or more, but I just checked the date and it was 10 DAYS ago?! How does Ann Wilson look so incredible?!
I know, she's 70 and still sexy. If she's had work done on her face it isn't obvious. The weight loss makes her look younger too
She probably had some work done too and it was done well.

I always loved Ann Wilson as a singer, after this is interview she has also won me over as a person. She deserves to be successful and Heart is definitively one of the best bands ever.
I see what she's saying but I can't imagine anyone singing it better than they did. Loved her live Stairway to Heaven Kennedy Honors of Led Zeppelin. Ann has such a soulful voice.
Ann Wilson has to realize whatever she sings about is secondary just to hear that voice is second to none one of the best female vocalist ever
I felt she was the female Robert Plant. I don't think anyone else could have pulled it off like she did. And she did it spectacularly!
Came here to make the same comment regarding that Stairway to Heaven performance.
Ann looks healthier than she did in past years.
Skinnier
1111 shoutout
It's so great to see.
She's had liver issues and was taking meds for it, which mess d with her weight. But she battled Ana (the ED) during the 70s so to make quips about her weight is disgusting.
Yeah I saw them in concert in the late 90s maybe? The stadium I was in was terrible for music; acoustics were awful. And my seat had me looking down through ceiling lights right down at the stage. Everybody on stage was pretty much just big blobs. I hate to be mean but she'd definitely been eating well.
It's the late 90's, senior in high school, a bowling alley in my hometown and my high school sweetheart... I use to hold Danelle to "What about love", by Heart, during those dates. We went on to have two daughters. Unfortunately, due to my alcoholism, it drove us apart. I'm almost 17 years sober as the writing of this comment. But everytime I hear that song, I'm right back in that bowling alley with my high school sweetheart ready to tackle the world like a young man all over again.
The Wilson sisters's autobiography is a must read.
My friend Chris Blaine was a good friend to the wilson sister’s he got a mention in their book
I would love that 😇😇
Ann is one of the purest singers I have ever heard. She is awesome.
Love Ann Wilson...one of those voices that you immediately recognize especially when she belts it out. Like Stevie Nicks in that sense. Distinctive.
Much better than Stevie Nicks in my opinion.
I once went to a rock club in Toronto years ago and they had this Heart tribute band performing called White Heart, and the lead singer sounded EXACTLY like Ann Wilson. It blew my mind!
Stevie could hold Ann’s beer or wine glass, for my kind of money.
STEVIE AND ANN . NANCY AND CHRISTINE rock queens!
What a down to earth and personable lady she is. I appreciate all the great music they've put out over the years.
Man I loved Heart back in the day! The energy, the story, the emotion was off the scale. I could listen to her talk about the backstories for hours. She is so in touch with life and full of wisdom.
Ann and Nancy are so incredibly talented. Their 70s music is my absolute favorite - Magic Man and Barracuda - I never get tired of listening to those songs!
Yessssss
You should not forget the guys in the original band that also helped create that sound.
Same
There will never be another voice like this. She is one of a kind!
This woman is incredible. Thanks for the interview.
Been a huge Heart fan, and more specifically an Ann Wilson fan, for more than 40 years. But yes, I always hated this song. Not for the music, but for the lyrics and message. Ann puts it best when she says it was "creepy". I actually feel vindicated now that I know that Ann herself disliked this song.
He suggested creepy. She just agreed.
As a trombone player, I’ve always ignored words, so all the “cringe” discussion here was out of the blue for me.
Ann looks fantastic. I've always thought she was beautiful, but it's amazing how well she's aged, and hasn't been tempted with plastic surgery or anything. Just a natural beauty.
All that money and didn’t spend ANYTHING on plastic surgery, so good you can’t tell.
and NO DRUGS LOL
Larry, you need to go back and look at other pics of her, it's pretty obvious she's had work done
She's obviously had some Botox injections at the very least. Anyone over 50 has wrinkles. She doesn't. LOL
@@toddshroyer4227 - Just looking at some of the photos of her on some of the album covers shown in this video confirms for me too that she's had work done. She does look great, though! The doctors knew what they were doing 🙂
I love this interview ,Ann Wilson is a rock goddess, fantastic voice 👏
I first saw Heart in concert during their tour for, "Private Auditions". Some unknown band named, "Huey Lewis and the News" opened up for them. They got booed at the beginning and then by the end of their set they had the crowed cheering for more. Then Heart came on and rocked the house. It was a great time.
I saw Heart in 1977 and like yours with Huey Lewis and the News, Foreigner was pretty fresh on the music scene, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
"Love Alive" is my all time favorite Heart song!!
Mine is the whole album "Little Queen".
I LOVE "Love Alive." It is so underrated.
Mine is Mistral Wind, at least for Ann showing off her vocal talent. But Love Alive is incredible for all the pieces, especially Nancy's guitar work.
I am partial to 'Dream of the Archer'... such terrific mandolin playing...
I agree, what a great song!

Heartless is a really really good song. Heart is astonishing
She’s aging very nicely. Like a fine wine. Love Heart!!!!
I had a feeling it would be this song... Such a departure from "Barracuda." BTW you just cannot go wrong with that Boston shirt... Historic!

Yeah, I figured it would be this song as well
Best vocalist in rock. Hugely underrated.
I used to hitch hike. I loved that song. Ive always loved heart. People critizise Ann for gaining weight. But her resonance improved so much.
Fuck that weight thing! Her talent supercedes all.
She battled liver issues from her drinking (to hide her Ana ED) and took medicines to correct it, hence the weight gain but she's looking healthier and clearer and more beautiful than ever.
She is so stunning. I could watch her speak for hours. Loved "Battle of Evermore" on Singles, never knew it was her. Love it even more now! Great episode!
Yes I had the biggest crush on her and she is still beautiful as can be
@@jamesburkjr2803 definitely!

Massive talent. Pioneers of Rock for sure. They opened so many doors for subsequent artists. So professional as well. And beautiful on top of that. Nothing but admiration and respect for the Wilson sisters.
Ann is the best rock singer male or female. Her range is incredible with her very lows then can hit higher notes with such power and control and still sound very pleasing to the ear.
I've known for quite awhile Ann didn't care for AIWDIMLTY. The sound has a great feel and groove to it. Ann kills it when she sings, "Please, please understand...!!" She gave that song an intimacy that nobody expected. Kudos to her. I don't have a Heart song I dislike, but I sure wish Ann would start performing "Magic Man" again!!
Agree about "Magic Man" totally!!
One of the truly wonderful things about today’s technology is the ability to hear such in depth interviews about someone who was always such an enigma.
As I watched this interview I thought, “Ann looks amazing” then I read that she’s 70! She could pass for decades younger and is so friendly, intelligent and down to earth. Makes me like and appreciate Ann and Heart even more! GREAT interview btw!

I love Anne Wilson but honestly I love her work the most with the original band from the 70s.
My favorite female rock band...their songs are anthems. Thank you Ann and Nancy. Love you both.

They’ve been my favorite since the 70,s . I gotta say she has never looked more beautiful. Age has been good to her and she is lovely.
We really love you Ann. Thank you for this interview. You are a big part of all our lives. Your voice has touched our souls. ❤💙💚💛🧡💜💖💝💗❤
I agree with Anne, the song “All I want To Do” is creepy. My FAVORITE 2 songs are Alone and These Dreams.
I always thought that too!
Yes.
I absolutely agree. Leave out a few excessive ballads and Brigade is a great rock album.
I actually love it more than Alone but not as much as These Dreams and What about Love?
With you on that one. That song has always bothered me as well. I go back further with my two favorite songs though, Little Queen and Rocking Heaven Down.
I love how calm and settled Ann is these days. Been a fan since the late 70's and own all of their early albums. I wish you would have asked her about performing Stairway to Heaven in front of the boys. It was the BEST cover of that song EVER. It was such a perfect blend of LZ and Heart. I watch the vid often.
I literally just watched it again yesterday. It never gets old. Especially the look of Robert Plant looking so touched near the end.
I agree... The first time I actually watched the video it blew me away...I have never seen Ann and Nancy so in tune with a song, and I've been fortunate to see them 2 time's in the 80s..Heart/Heart Tour and Bad Animal's Tour.. They were both great, but nothing like the tribute to their Music Hero's LZ...Ann Wilson slayed that song.. Period
I was halfheartedly hoping, a few years ago, that just Maybe.... since Robt Plant was not interested in doing a Zep reunion tour.... that Page, Jones, and Jason Bonham would do a tour with Ann singing and Nancy on backup guitar as Led Zeppelin featuring The Wilson Sisters.... it would've been So Good! Alas.... it was never seriously considered.
Don't know if it ever was contemplated.... but since JP Jones worked with Heart on The Road Home record, and Jason Bonham was friends with the Wilsons from being their opening act on a tour, the ability of Heart to absolutely Nail any LZ tune they ever covered would seem to have made that coupling a potentially great idea. 🤔
Even tho I consider myself a metal guy I’ve always loved heart, probably cuz my parents listened to them a lot when I was a kid in the 70’s. Anne’s voice.....perfection.
She gets prettier the older she gets, I wish I had that problem.
I'll second that!
It's a weird 70's and 80's thing. A lot of folks who were adults then looked really old then, but now they are growing into it so they are looking younger and better. My mother and aunts are the same way. They look better as they get older.
A deal with the devil might help.

Amazing how this smoky voiced woman can hit and sustain those high notes that she does.
She is amazing. Saw Heart Fall of 2019. Knew they still 'had it' but was seriously unprepared for just how GREAT THEY STILL ARE. Anne's voice would have blown the hair off my head (if I had any).

Sweet interview. Ann is a real rock hero. Heart's music always transports me to my cruisin' days back in west Seattle in the 70's.
I remember blasting Heart's Little Queen album in my muscled up '70 Plymouth Duster and the gals just came a-runnin.
Thanks Ann & Nancy.

Yes, great song!
I kind of remember Ann &/or Nancy saying they didn’t like that song either.
Too bad, I liked it..
That was the 'first' Heart song I ever heard!
I adore Heart, but you are spot on about this song. It gave me a major creep out vibe, along with the video. I can't blame Ann and Nancy if they don't want to perform it. My favorite Heart song is Dog & Butterfly, I just love the simplicity and beauty of it compared to their hard rock roots.
Love Dog and Butterfly! You are so right! How deep it goes is pretty awesome too.
I agree. I loved the older Heart songs and didn't care for this one but Heart is always #1 to me
Dog and Butterfly is also my favorite Heart song. Beautiful music. Beautiful women.
Now I'm going to run in circles the rest of the day... "Dog and Butterfly" or "Dream of the Archer"? I can't decide!
My favorite "smile on my face" feelgood tune is "Say Hello" ...

She's awesome. Nice, humble and has one of the all-time greatest voices.
One of my all time favorite female vocalist. Heart proved women could perform rock and roll just as well as a man. No more silly little love songs. And did I mention how absolutely gorgeous she is!

Not one of, more simply THE BEST
Stevie is up there, but she cant "belt" it like Ann.
Benatar or Blondie?.....not quite.
Jett or Chrissie?... ok but still not there.
Annie Lennox is a little late to the party, but comes closest to Anns level of vocals.
yeah.....no question.....Anns the best.
and dont even mention Slick........blech.
I finally got to see Heart when they toured OZ with Def Leppard back in 2011. They were great. Ann's vocals were amazing. Great concert.
Under the Sky is one of my absolute favorite songs. They both contribute their best to this wonderful song. Love. It. Love. Heart. ❤️
This is so surprising to me! I adore this song and I've always thought it tells a really beautiful story. " I told him I am the flower, you are the seed. We walked in a garden. We planted a tree."
thats the very line I dislike ..... I love the boldness of the song otherwise,
She cheats on a guy she "loves" and has him raise a child thats not his and uses the other guy as a sperm donor ......beautiful??
Im glad she hates it ,makes me like her more
I love Heart and like that song, but it did get overplayed at the time of its release. I remember a frustrated radio DJ exclaiming, "Would someone make love to her already?!" after playing the song for the umpteenth time.
I was a top 40 radio jock when it came out. Yeah we got tired of it! I got a talking to when I went on the air and said “No, but can you introduce me to your sister?”
LOL!!
The funny thing is, I think Ann underrates it by saying it's about a one-night stand. The protagonist was using the guy as a means to an end. He got what he wanted, and she got what she wanted (and needed, due to shortcomings, pun intended!). It was a win-win! Very cleverly written.
How does it even work if you switch to a male protagonist? 🤔

Great show. My two favorite bands. Thanks.
I remember when All I Wanna Do was popular, I was working with someone who loved the song but hadn't heard any other Heart. I brought some older Heart in for them to listen to, they actually didn't like it (too heavy). At that point I realized it was written for other people and not for me.
As they say in the southern states.... "Well Bless Their Heart" 🤣
Some people's taste in music is beyond help.
The only Heart song that makes me change the station.
I almost never hear it played on radio. Give me “These Dreams,” “Straight On” or “What About Love” any day!
You aren't a real fan of anyone or anything unless there is that one thing you detest.
Should have left it to Dobie Gray, I guess.
As opposed to baracuda which makes you turn it up to max volume.
@@MrBeard-ig5zc Or Kick It Out, or Crazy On You, or, well, damn, just about anything from their first four albums.
Great interview... thanks for sharing!
Born in Jan., ‘71, I’m just so grateful I was exposed to my older brother’s records of Heart. And then in high school I got “Never,” “What About Love,” “Alone” and “The Wolf,” etc...
I was hoping you would mention the song "Stranded" from this album. That was my favorite song on the album, and definitely #1 in my ♥️!
My favorite song from the album too!
Same love that song but it gets to me sometimes as my 1st Hubby left me and i got the album after and i was like OMG ...but i do still love that album :D
"Stranded" has always been one of my favorites. I had my now husband listen to it when we had temporarily split up
These conversations NEED to happen for all artists
I loved this interview Ann Wilson & Nancy what can you say except "Thank you " for all you've given to us the fans! I still watch the Led Zeppelin tribute " Omg" I cried watching that for the first time. Especially when the camera caught Robert Plant tearing up. All the images of there youth came rushing through my mind up to that moment of Heart singing the tribute just shock me. Thank you keep up the great views love your work as well .🙏🏻
Loved this interview. ❤
Alone was my favorite no bad songs. If I got to interview her, I wouldn’t be able to sit still. 😄😳 Awesome interview. One lucky guy. Love your show.
i really liked that you talked about "the night" and "under the sky", as they're the best songs off the album. I wished you talked a bit more about "Desire walks on", which was such an underrated album, that definitely deserves more credit, as it shows a period where the band dropped commercial success just to make what they wanted instead. Great video as always!
Could not agree with you more about Desire Walks On... I never get tired of that album..
Desire walks on is one of my favorites
I checked Wikipedia and Ann is 72! She looks early forties at the most and she's still so beautiful !amazing!
I loved this vid. Ann is such a class act. Ok ok I watched a interview with Nancy too earlier. I live in Oregon so if Ann or Nancy or both are going sing in Seattle I can only hope I get to hear them.
Great interview.
Have always loved Ann & Nancy Wilson's music, been listening to them since Dreamboat Annie, they are still a great band, with even better vocal power. So needless to say, I'm a big fan of Heart, they are looking good in 2021, keep on Rockin Ann & Nancy Wilson !!!
the GOAT of Female Rock Voices!
ABSOLUTELY 😎😎😎😎😎
What a great interview. I can tell you and Ann were totally on the same page during the whole interview. Just another fantastic video!
This is , in my opinion, one of the best interviews you have ever done. You really covered everything in it. Brovo my friend.
