I wish I knew this when I was taking care of my disabled brother all these years. He is in a nursing home now. Thank you for your video's and for helping people learn these things.

There is so much about Medicaid that is kept secret. I don’t exactly know why, but its why I try to educate through these videos, my articles, and speaking engagements - as much as possible!

In 2023, the PDO hourly rate to pay family caregivers is approximately $15.00 per hour.

It depends on what she needs to be able to be able to safely remain at home (there is no limit, but sometimes Medicaid managed care organizations make you fight for all that is needed beyond what they initially approve).

Hi Jennifer - unfortunately, you'll need to reach out to a medicaid planning attorney in Miss. We only represent those who are on (or need) Medicaid in Florida.

If you want to get paid for these hours, ask that they enroll you in the Participant Directed Option (PDO) program.
If you are looking for more hours, you need to request additional hours with medical support (i.e. doctor notes) that detail what your daughter needs. If this is denied there is an internal appeal process with the managed care organization. If that internal appeal is denied, then you request a fair hearing with AHCA.

@@elderneedslaw thank you for the advice, it’s the same like GT independence? Her LTC will be effective on July 1st. And the social worker told me I could appeal because she was able to give me just 10 hours , I called your office on Monday to see if I have to hire your service , (I will have just 60 days to appeal ) but still waiting for someone to call me , thank you .
