I’m so pleased our paths have crossed! Thank you, thank you for watching and subscribing, your enthusiasm is contagious. Let me know in the comments below your video requests for future inspiration, I would love to accommodate!

The shade on that green BoHo lamp...❤
You could do a 'wall' of mirrors in the bathroom...
I think that's the So. Tacoma Way Antique Mall. I love it, but now that I'm in a wheel chair, and it looks so full, I'm afraid it might be too difficult for me to move around in. I saw at least 6-8 bookend sets. Love them! Can't believe there were so many. Favorites: dogs and ships. One more thing: Sherri from Canterbury Cottage showed how to remove the spout from those big glass jars, then push some twinkle lights in through the hole. The battery pack stays out. Then she makes a scene inside the jar that lights up. Especially at Christmas! I tried it and I love it! Great idea collecting feathers!
Yes, you are right and I'm sad to say I wouldn't bring a wheel chair in there. 7 bookends and I just love Sherri!
Looks fabulous! I love how your husband just jumps in to all of your projects. He’s a keeper!!
I agree!
The Champaine bucket is stunning. I love items such as that. They're timeless and patina well. Great find!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for taking us along on your shopping adventure
If I had to describe you in two words, I would say elegant and refined. The vintage clothing, in my opinion, would look lovely on you.
That's so sweet, Lorraine!
You are a source of inspiration! I love you calm and elegant way to make a home look and feel cozy and beautiful.
Thank you.
My habit is also to edit the cart before checking out. I have eclectic style and like many different styles, so it's easy to get in to trouble. Recently when out thrifting or antiquing, I have been telling myself - "stay in your lane". I find I will now leave an item because it's just not exactly what I am looking for. I think your list of criteria is excellent.
I really appreciate this video. My husband and I love flea markets and antique stores. We travel 6-8 times a year to see our two children and their families, never missing a birthday for our 6 grandchildren. We look up antique and thrift stores along the way and find treasures for our home. We go back to these shops and find treasures and have made friends along the way.
Pennsylvania is a favorite state for antiques but we’ve found some great shops in Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia.
I keep pictures on my phone of things we are on the hunt for and we have found many of the items. We love using vintage scales in our home and currently have 10.
I was always someone that loved thrifting vintage fashion…and then later on, I got into vintage furniture and decor, which is my main focus and interest these days. But I don’t think I could ever choose between the two-I love them both equally and enjoy how the historical aspects overlap between the two!
I can see why!
The dresses, at the beginning, remind me of dresses I wore to high school dances in the late 70s. 🙂
Hi! I am watching your latest video and noticed the print of the house in St Michaels, Maryland. It’s actually called the Cannonball House. It’s pretty famous in the area of which I was born. Look up “The Town that Fooled the British” and it will tell the story. I spotted it instantly as you were going around the store.
I always watch your show and love it btw. 🤗
Thank you for watching and for the information on the picture!
My son loves to come antiquing with me. This is that same kid who saw your daughter's orange room and wanted to do a masculine version. We've been talking a lot about what he likes, doesn't like and what is or is not worth buying. Recently he found a huge framed print/painting of a wood in Autumn for $25. Art seems to be where he likes to spend his money so we have a lot of talks about where he'd put this in his room, how it goes with the color scheme he's working on, etc. It's been a lot of fun seeing how he thinks out his purchases. On another note, my TV room is dark academia which arose from two trains of thought - Old World style coffee houses and what to do with the leftover science equipment from homeschooling my kids all these years. The wet bar was transformed into a coffee bar with a black wall and oak shelving. Potted plants add a soft green touch around the room, with hints of cobalt blue and copper here and there. Lighting is a mood rather than a necessity. It's been a process. Most of the items in this room were things we already had but just had not mashed them together to make a cohesive thought.
I would like your house and your son sounds wonderful!
I think I spied 10 bookends. Loved the shopping trip and your fun treasures.
I'm with your husband about the decoy! I collect those along with goose and swans. They spark something within me when I see one. Luckily I started on the antique ones around 35 years ago!
That is amazing, you must have quite a collection!
I hope to come across a champagne bucket as beautiful one day - using it as a planter / plant holder is 🤌🏼💋👩🏻🍳 chef’s kiss! 🪴🍾
Great ideas, Erin!
HI! I collect feathers also !! I live in the country and when I see even a little Sparrow feather I will pick it up ! I would love to find the champagne buckets . I would love to go to Brimfield !! Have a super weekend ! Paula Indiana
Buy the white dress!! You have inspired me to wear my dresses more often………
I think i saw 7-8 bookends!
Oh fun, dresses are kind of addicting. 7 bookends in all.
I was eyeing that exact same champagne bucket the last time I was at that antique mall. Good purchase! 😊 As someone from the east coast, I agree that thrifting and antiquing on the west coast requires a bit more digging.
Great minds think alike!
*Sparking Joy, Color Palette, Style* . Great talking Points here. I'm a stickler to color palette. For me, a tight palette makes decor decisions easy. Style is also huge on my list, "does this fit into my aesthetic?" . Joy, "will I treasure this piece for seasons to come?" . Price point and effort and time to DIY also come into play.
Yes, well said!
I love your loungeroom. I think warming it with some raspberry tones would make it very welcoming and cosy in the evenings. William Morris Strawberry thrives comes to mind as inspiration for cushions and drapes.
Thanks for the reminders! I do try to be purposeful in my selecting as well.
On the subject of sort of bookends, I love the trend where people are putting books in the silver holders that serving dishes (like Pyrex) came in - I have found a couple & just love the look !
OOh, I don't think I have seen that, it sounds intriguing!
You have a well-trained eye.
I love the duck.
Did you show 6 pairs of bookends? I love those feathers, didn’t look like Turkey feathers. My boys are hunters and I have many feathers! I especially like your first requirement for purchasing thrifted pieces: does it bring JOY! Love this. TFS
I counted 7 bookends....gorgeous ones as well!
I love the feathers and white linens. Old silver sparks joy for me too and some of my favorites to style. At Christmas time I have a large silver punch bowl full old vintage gold ornaments- it’s stunning in the low lights of the chandelier above it and Christmas tree lights across the room. I really like your other tips too! The older I get the more I have trained my eye to discern what works and what doesn’t.
I counted 13 bookends, but I might have missed some. Every time I watch one of your videos, I’m distracted by how beautifully and gracefully you dress. I do love the way you design your spaces as well.
Oh, wow, guess I’m not very observant - I only noticed 6 !
There were seven sets, there must have been other things that looked like bookends.😂
@@SheHoldsDearly Well, seven sets would be 14, so I must have missed one.
I saw 7 sets of bookends.
I love vessels that look like trophies.
I thrifted 3 pieces of my collection today. I bought a Pfaltzgraff Heritage mini coffee pot and my sister got me the Gravy boat and matching saucer🙌🏾 I love my collections.
Great score on that duck.
Great finds and yes, 7 bookends.
I saw 7 bookends. Love thrifting too. Thanks for the tips.
Yes, you are right!
I agree the East Coast is much older and their antiques are just that antiques. I'm with you why pay the big price when you can, with a little patience can get it at s better price.
Love everything but especially the duck! I have two very similar🦆🦆 I use them to decorate in the summer and Fall. They bring me so much joy . Love the silver bucket , I've been collecting that similar style / shape vessels also. I group mine together also. Ferns in spring and summer, wheat in fall, and evergreens in them in winter season. Great video ❤❤❤
Did I see 7 bookends? What a fun shop along.
7 book ends...I think! Great tips for shopping!
I love all the pieces. I wish I could figure out my exact style and it would work with my crazy house with my dogs lol. I love bookends and books and have to many I think lol I seen 7 in the video and loved them all. 😂
Omg, someone said they saw 13 bookends!!!! I only counted 6😂 love shopping with you!
Thank you for the direct with color!!! I feel your mind just explodes when trying to define your color. Like to many good color candies to choose from. Lol I love soft greens and olive green too. I’ll just breath and take it one step at a time🐸
So fun. I saw 7 sets of bookends.
Have you been to Lander Street Vintage mall in Seattle? It's got so many beautiful things and a ton of vendors. I have an Americana booth there and just brought in a winter snow scene with deer.
No! I will have to try to go there!
I have a champagne bucket like that as well as many silver pieces. I just love using them different ways in decorating. Great find
Ugh, totally get what you said about loving a piece. A year ago I bought a pie safe for my dining room to house my ironstone collection but I knew I just didn’t love it the way I should. I have found 2 empire dressers, 1 that’s super affordable and needs a touch of customization and 1 that’s 3times the cost. I can’t stop thinking about the expensive one. I look at the pictures, I walk into the room and stare at the now blank wall imagining it there. Plus, it’s British and all hand cut dovetails.., I think I know what my heart wants. Thank you for your tips
Please go get that dresser you want ! Eat Ramen noodles for a week like we did in college ! If you miss out on it, you’re gonna think about it forever ! And considering how hard it is at times to find the special item you’re looking for, I say go for it ! Greetings & blessings to you from sunny Central Florida ! 🥰 Let me know if you get it - lol !
@@Melody-285 Agreed!
I think you know which one to get, wink!
@@SheHoldsDearly I hope she gets it & lets us know !
@@Melody-285I’m going tomorrow to pay for it (they put it on hold) and next Monday it will be in my room !!!
The champagne bucket it beautiful. I finally found one about a year ago. It was on my list of things I look for every time I go into a store. I had wanted one for my kitchen to put my cooking utensils in. I love it!
What a great idea!
You have such great advise! I counted six.
Real art is out of my budget, but I love hand-painted tole pieces and trays, especially those that are not with a black background, and wooden things that have ethnic painting. I have some Swedish candle holders and Pennsylvania Dutch furniture that bring joy to my heart because I so appreciate that a person imagined it and painted it!
Try looking for pieces from estate sales, consignment shops, and thrift stores. I normally go looking for frames, but every once in a while I will find a piece of art worthy enough to grace my walls. My husband and I took a solid weekend of driving around to as many shops as we could, making note of the ones worth going back to and the ones that were duds.
Your home sounds amazing!
The champagne bucket trio for Xmas is a great idea! I’ve just sold one on my Etsy. They are so pretty and versatile. BTW- that antique mall looks amazing to go hunting in! ❤ Love from France.
I think I counted 13 bookends but I was watching after canning tomatoes and might have dozed off 😂 I have that same champagne bucket!
Haha, there were only eight. Wow, great minds think alike on the champagne buckets!
I don't touch anything in the booths... I walk through each and I absorb and when I get to the door, whatever I can't stop dreaming about, those items come home with me. 😂 I know my attention span won't linger on anything that doesn't ring my bells and toot my whistles. My brain can see that bell or dish or whatever in like 6 different places at a time, that's when I know an item will work.
I still love that duck, and I'm on the hunt for a duck 😂 my daughter raises them.
Those suitcases had me drooling!
Thanks for watching!
Loved the video and your finds, especially the champagne bucket. In my kitchen I have alot of blue and white antique items. I have a 1/2 bath off my kitchen and I found some beautiful antique soap advertisements with some blue as a back ground color that I matted and framed. They look beautiful and fit into my Victorian home. I found the exact size and color frames I needed from a VERY talented seller on Etsy.
Your home sounds amazing!
Ooh, the champagne buckets would also look beautiful with all one color sparkly ball ornaments in each like all red, all brown and all gold in each bucket.
Good idea!
This video made me so happy. You said patience...it takes patience to find all the pieces sometimes and I am learning that if you want quality you have to be patient. So often I just buy "stuff" like reproduction or mass made items just to get a look achieved. After a huge clear out and decluttering I am finally learning...lol. One week until Brimfield I can't wait! I am looking for good art for a gallery wall. I am being patient!
Your champagne bucket is my favorite of your finds. I watch another You Tuber (Home Made Vintage )who collects horse trophies and styles them so uniquely. I also like the duck. That's so interesting to hear how the coasts differ on their styles.
Oh, wow, horse trophies! I would love those!
I so enjoyed going Antique Shopping 🛒 with you Sarah! You found some wonderful treasures! I LOVE the Champagne 🏆 Bucket!! 💚💚💚💚 I have been searching for a long time for one but have not found it ...yet!! I LOVE the 🦆!!! I also have been searching for one my Mantel. I love the tips you gave. Very great ideas!! Thanks!! 😀😄
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Great styling of your "finds". I think I saw 7 sets of bookends. :)
I put a tapestry in my bathroom and love it. Woman closing her art school of r0 plus years was tossing student "paintings" that my sister recovered and shared floral works with me. Framed wallpaper among vintage wicker cab*net and collectibles created one of my favorite "vibes". Play in our expression is key. If too many steamy showers makes it a bad choice....look for metallic art to hang. Architectural.....yeah😍 Love from Texas!
Love you aesthetic, Jan!
Lovely and helpful video! Where I live, Facebook Marketplace has an “Antique” category, with some great finds, including vintage (unbelievably, some are free!) 😮You look stunning in your beautiful white dress! God bless. 😊❤❤
Oh thank you, what a great tip for FBMP, I'm totally going to check that out!
I think it's brilliant that you collect feathers for fall.❤
It's a beautiful mantal decor and very original.
Aww, what a sweet thing to say!
I have to agree about the dark academia decor. I like the items used and how they are styled but I just can’t do that much dark, even during the day. Can’t imagine how it looks at night.
I know, I'm trying to sort it out. Sigh.
I counted 7 pairs of bookends. I'm on the hunt for some bookends that have weight to them. Your dress looks great on you. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! And yes, 7 bookends.
You look beautiful.🤍 I loved the champagne bucket, I thrifted one similar, last year.😍
Thank you, Sarah and great minds think alike!
Bookends, depends if you count pairs or single.
Crazy! Right before your video popped up I was thinking that I seem to have trouble deciding what art to hang in our bedroom! My Bathroom decor has always been easy…I’m a retired RN so I tend to put a lot of Vintage Medical…Even have a Vintage eye vision chart hanging right over the toilet. I also have an antique metal sign that reads “No Combustible Gases Allowed in this Operating Room”. 😂. My 2nd bath generally gets all the Nautical I love. Mainly oil paintings of ships. But my newly remodeled Dark Academia bedroom (thanks for the inspiration!) 🤷♀️. I have several ideas, but they don’t quite fit in my mind…. I have an old, dark, oil painting of a dog that my husband loves…so, trying to start from there.
A thought is to incorporate two colors from the dog painting you like which you could add to the rest of the room. For instance, my dark academia TV room has touches of cobalt blue and copper mixed in with the primary colors of black and beige. I try to keep these colors subtle, so the blue might be found in a pillow's pattern, or in a vase on a shelf. Copper could be in the handles of a cabinet, a candle holder, or the hue of glass on a lamp, etc. Think also of the Edwardian period or Steampunk vibes for dark academia or the great library in Edinburgh for inspiration. You could even incorporate old apothecary bottles into the look reflecting back on your time in medicine.
Your home sounds wonderful!
@@heathers8826 great ideas! Thank you!
I like engravings for bathroom walls. 👍
Your tips are always so helpful especially when you show something styled. I personally would love to add more personal and unique decor that tells the story of my family or places I love instead of just following trends. If you have tips on adding family photos or sentimental items that would help me. Thank you always!
Great ideas, I will try address these in the future!
Love the duck decoy. Ive now bought three vintage wood duck decoys in the last month and am obsessed!!
Oh wow, good for you!
I really appreciate your list of how to find the 10 rating of finds!!! I know when I understood my style and colors... I could pick an item better! Dual purpose 🎉 .... I love your finds, too! Living in SE Oklahoma seems like our finds are 70-80's stuff too... I can only dream of going East coast thrifting ❤
Thank you! One day, try to go to Brimfield! xoxo
I Spied with My Little Eye: six bookend pairs. I think no to a tapestry in the bathroom. It could harbor moisture over time?
You should totally treat yourself to a few vintage dresses. You can pull them off better than anyone. You can film your videos in them. Maybe just a few for special holidays 😊
I love this idea!
I counted 7 sets of bookends. Love them so much
Good job, that's right!
I have a couple of silver champagne buckets. One of them is close to 42 years old because we got it as a wedding gift. Love bookends. Did I see 8?
Oh wow, that sounds stunning. 7 bookends!
@@SheHoldsDearly ha! I'm really failing on these quizzes! 🤣
I love dual purpose items.. im all about practicality, form , function and beauty of course! I want turkey and phesant feathers!!!! I'm on the hunt for a tarnished trophy or champagn bucket!! Tucson AZ doesn't have those types of things unless they are in an antique store and way overpriced.. although i did see a huge punch bowl w like 30 tiny cups.. for $20 bucks .. i probably should have grabbed it.. it was the same tarnished silver as your bucket.. darn.. love this video.. oh, i counted 7 bookends i think...
Yes, good job, 7 bookends!
I love the shopping tips! I also use several of those tactics. For items like the bottle brush tree I factor dual purpose as can I style it in at least 3 different ways or spots. If so then I know it's a good item to get. ;)
I love this idea!
I live in a fairly rural area and the few thrift stores here get picked over quickly. Honestly, their prices have also gotten out of hand in the last few years. I used to find a few treasures as well as practical items but I’ve mostly given up. FB marketplace is a little better but I need to drive to a more populated area (about 60-80 miles one way) to pick up items. I don’t necessarily want to buy new but if I need something it’s much more convenient.
Our prices have gotten really high, too.
I just love those linen ikea pillowcases and hoarded a dozen of them. Not ashamed! Easy to go too dark as much as i love it. I have white dove bead board 2/3 up the wall w/ dark W. Morris wallpaper above. Balances. Also holy heck your hair looks AMAZING.
Oh thank you! And your house sounds amazing!
I have a problem with bath pictures. Totally love hats. I found 7 set of bookends, my hunt for them as well. That dress is lovely on you. 💕
Thank you, yes, 7 bookends!
You found some great pieces there. I am ready to go out and start finding thrift stores now that I bought a house in a different area of the country. It will be fun to explore what is available here.
Thank you, yes, I hope you find some treasures!
Such great and detailed advice. Thank you ❤
Another thing on my " thrift list" is upgrading / replacing items I already have with a more beautiful or more quality item.
OMG! I saw a tag and realized you were at the antique mall less than 5 minutes from my house! Screaming.
Oh wow!! Small world!
Thank you for this wonderful time with you. We visited that antiques' store on vacation and saw many treasures. Thank you also for your list of how an item becomes a "10". It seems so logical until I get excited and then my "intentional" goes out the window.😂 I counted 7 bookend sets.
Oh fun! Yes, there were 7!
Beautiful!!! I love shopping with you! LOL, and I think I saw 7 bookends. :)
Thank you! Yes, 7 bookends.
Just lovely! Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
There was 6 or 7 bookends. You saw a lot. Love this video!
thank you! 7 bookends in all!
Love the chalk ware dog bookends❤️
I counted 6 sets of book ends. I am sure I missed some. Nice items as always.
Good try, they were 7 in all!
It was great watching your video! I think I spyed 7 bookends. Anyway, great information as always. I love the champagne bucket ideas. I may need to look for one or begin a new collection. Missing you and the BTS girls. Thank you for the email. I'll be in touch. Hugs to you!
LOVE the champagne bucket!
Love the duck! Looking for( Staffordshire look) pair of pheasants myself. 6 pairs of bookends? If you count the plastic head holding up the books...then another?
There were 7 bookends in total!
The dress that you're wearing looks vintage. Is it? The details are beautiful.
The cream dress? It's not vintage, it's a more recent brand called Knox Rose. rstyle.me/+XVh9As5gqNJKIBjyNiKV3Q
I think some sort of floral picture would work in the bathroom.
For me, I call it a "gut feeling" when I know I should buy something. I still have misses when I make a mistake on a purchase, but it feels good to learn my personal style and what I really like.
My sister gave me a notepad once that said “Nothing haunts us more than the thing we didn’t buy !”Lol
So true!
I lost count on the bookends. Love the white dress you're wearing and that red velvet coat would look stunning on you. Oh, and the Brimfield Antique show is coming 😅
Thank you so much and there were 7 bookends.
I need some elegant birds like that duck to place around the house, And bunnies too. 🤔 I am excited for this video!
Yes, they seem to be making a comeback, don’t they?❤
@@SheHoldsDearly I don't know that they ever left. I have a little white bunny that gets lots of compliments in spring. 😂
"Does it spark joy?" For me, this should come with a caution sign. I find that if I fall MADLY in love with something, it's a good sign that I am falling for a trend that I'll hate in 5 years or less. Not always true but it's true enough to make me question my "spark joy" purchases. If the item is expensive, I try hard to make myself wait a year or two on things that make me squeal.
I am on the hunt for bookends, so it was easy for me to keep an eye out for them in your video. I spied 7 pairs. Did I miss any?
You are correct!
All, just beautiful!!!
Thank you so much!
That’s the Rustic Hippo!
Great finds! Do you have recommendations for antique stores in Pierce County?
Try the South Tacoma Way one
I noticed 7 pairs of bookends. 😊
You look beautiful ! This cream dress is gorgeous and fits you like a fairy dress! Were you in Washington DC ? West coast ? St Michael ? I have a property on an island near by… so funny !
What a sweet thing to say! This mall is in Tacoma, Wa. Washington state, not DC.
@@SheHoldsDearly this is really funny and confusing as we do have a Tacoma neighborhood in Washington DC, and a St Michael also on the shore of Chesapeake Bay with lot of antic shops !
I think i counted 6 sets of bookends! 😊
I would have grabbed that duck too! Wonderful find. Would you mind sharing which antique mall you love that is shown here? I'm sorry if you mentioned the name and I missed it. I am also in your area. oxJulia
Sure, its the South Tacoma Antique Mall.
@@SheHoldsDearly Thank you! I've never been there :o)
