Apparently there are some facilities that sort the trash stream mechanically for recyclables, but I think these are few, and I think mainly for metals? I can't find much info, Texas apparently sort their trash, but I didn't find out if they lack a separate recycling stream.
You should look into what happens to all that stuff that separate it out for recycling It’s pretty depressing and will definitely make you realize it’s not worth your time

Thank you. There is a load that comes in every few weeks that has a load of 8-10 inch pvc piping for plumbing I think. It’s all cut up and when it gets dumped it falls out of the truck at lighting speed and goes boom. It’s satisfying to watch.

The pit is a big trailer which is then taken to the actual landfill. This is just a transfer station. They do it this way when the actual dump is too far outside of the area the trash is produced in, so it's less distance the collection trucks have to travel.
Its the same garbage. Its not like garbage on one side and recyclables on the other. That may have been the intended purpose of this truck. Somebodies local government paid extra for it no doubt. Waste of waste management money. 😂

Thoes potatoes looked like they still had some useful life in them. Don't the companies in that area contribute to homeless shelters or soup kitchens?
