My college years were the late 80's and The Replacements were a big part of my soundtrack through that time. Thanks for posting. Saw them live four times, always a great show...
Have never been a huge fan of the band, not that I don't like them, just never listened to their entire catalogue. But this song is just so good. It gives me tingles any time I hear it. The music and the loop are incredible, but the lyrics are also wonderfully powerful.
@@illbu2 Ha, how far I've come in the last four years since I wrote that! Amazing timing, been listing to Tim & Tim Let it Bleed on replay for the last two weeks...
The drummer displays very impressive technique opening and drinking from a bottle while continuing to play the hi-hat and snare with one hand during "Can't Hardly Wait". He couldn't wait to hit the bottle! The Berkeley College of Music offers that technique in a course for drummers who want to audition to play for The Replacements. But you have to audition for the course by drinking two six packs and a bottle of Wild Turkey, and most prospective students are turned away for not being able to play while schwacked. Mr Westerberg is in fine voice here, and the band is stonking. Rather baffling to realize Mr Westerberg is coming up on 65, but is not likely retire with a watch and a small pension.
a great view of the floor and how Paul and Dave keep stepping all over their guitar cords on the floor, My guitar teacher use to scream at me for stepping on his guitar cords lol He said stepping all over the guitar cords will break them . Paul's cord is super wide and barely coils up, must be an expensive and great cord, Dave's is way small and coiling up . Thanks for posting !
Man, Within Your Reach.. such an incredible song.
Paul can make a simple A chord at the second fret look Bizarre , crafty and amazing style :)

This definitely my fav live verison of Cant Hardly Wait, thanks for posting
I love how John keeps drumming with one hand while opening his bottle and taking a drink during Can't Hardly Wait.
Fantastic show. I was there.
But were you present?

I've never thumbed down a personal opinion before but honestly
Within Your Reach I assume you mean (it’s the superior song)?
I suggest listening to their catalog. There are plenty of songs that will give you "the tingles". 😊

Josh fucking Freese! One of the greatest drummers alive
Drownin in the canal :)
Josh F is an absolute unit.
I wonder what the significance is, that Westerberg always performs this song kneeling or sitting down.
Thanks!
This song sounds incredibly difficult to perform. Only The Replacements can do it effortlessly.
This is only half of their original lineup unfortunately

@Eagle Eye He’s tired of performing it, maybe?…
Yeah, those cords are interesting.
Can you say Burnt and at his Best!
