Bad Bill is a gila monster - a poisonous lizard of the American southwest and Mexico. Beans is a desert iguana - and though some lizards freeze up as a defense mechanism, they're not one of them. Priscilla, the kid, is a desert mouse (voiced delightfully by Abigail Breslin. This move unfortunately sort of came and went without much notice, which is a shame because it's not only stunning animation on the animal details, but is just a surprisingly good movie.

This movie has such great cinematography because the cinematographer was Roger Deakins who has an insane resume. While it is a cg film his direction of framing and knowledge of what makes a good image elevates so much of this film.

That "boar" creature that was pulling the cart was a Javelina (pronounced Have-a-leena). It's also known as a peccary. Though it looks like one, it's actually not a pig. On average, they reach about 40 pounds but can grow to be 80 pounds, depending on genetics and diet. They travel in packs, but unlike wild pigs, javelinas are only considered a threat to people when they feel threatened and cornered.

This is a DAMN good, beautiful movie. I remember that dream sequence in theaters
You move slowly in your dreams because your body is paralyzed in real life and your brain knows that.

Had a feeling you guys were going to love it 🤠 It’s one that I have to go back and rewatch at least once or twice a year. Thanks for the reaction!!🌵🏜️🌵

The boar is a Javelina, basically just a desert boar.
They are more leaner than domestic pigs, so less fatty, obviously still fat however.
Pronounced "Hav-ah-lean-ah" or close to that depending on regional pronounciation in the southwest.
The birds they ride are Roadrunners if anyone was curious.
Little guys are quick and literally sprint everywhere they go.
And yes like everyone is commenting, Bad Bill is a Gila Monster, rotund chubby lizards with venomous bites, not life threatening bad but close.
I think there's only been a few records of people dying from them, I might be mistaken.
Adorable little guys tho, they like to bury themselves and take literal dirtnaps so its pretty scary stepping on one, especially at night.
Nothing scarier than hearing a Rattle Snake within striking distance tho, that takes the cake.
I still jump whenever I hear rattling under me, and I have not lived in the southwest in some years.

His face however had gotten the point after 10 seconds. That was just about 30 years ago, some memories just stay with you :D

The fact that Simone loves animals so much, I highly recommend the animated movie, The Wild Robot that just came out a little over a month ago. Animated film of the year for me by a large margin. Rattlesnake Jake was Bill Nighy and he voices someone in The Wild Robot too funny enough. Yeah, it was definitely supposed to be Clint Eastwood since he was the, "Man With No Name" in a trilogy of movies.

This movie was done by ILM the VFX company behind all the Star Wars movies (and every other block buster movie for that matter), it was their 1st animated movie. If you look closely there's a few references to movies they've done, like all the pics Rango draws in the air during the campfire scene. And how one of the bats crashes, it mimics how one of the ships crashes during the trench run in Star Wars A New Hope ;)
