- Factually accurate title, believe it or not. By using Heartshadow's debuff extension and taking advantage of its short swap animation, we send this exotic sword leaps and bounds ahead of its base DPS state, surpassing Lament while also proving to be far more consistent when it comes to damage.

Some notes:
- If you're swapping fast with dex mods, make sure you have 3 Lucent Blades
- This can also be done using Felwinter's for the initial debuff and CotOG to extend, but I prefer to use Heartshadow so I can use a better damage super than Nova and have Ascent support for Horseman final
- Deadfall Tether can't be extended this way
- Volatile isn't worth a better damage super like Blade on hunter
- The shotguns featured in this video are ALH Frenzy Ragnhild and ALH Surrounded Imperial, but if you use a shoot to loot primary and you have a reload option, The Comedian with Vorpal is the best shotgun for this thanks to surge matching (also run 3 void)
- You can frame cap to 60 or lower and look up to make Lament damage more consistent
- This video does not mean Heartshadow is good on its own - it's actually quite bad as exotic swords go - it needs the swap to become good
- Like I said in the video, don't take the wipe screen numbers too seriously: you posting that you hit more with Lament across x phases with x super and x mods doesn't mean anything DPS-wise... what this video proves is this strategy's viability and consistency, with the footage simply showing that it has real potential in an actual fight outside of my spreadsheet

I was wondering your opinion on this strategy using the until its return strand shotgun instead. Using vorpal to eliminate the lesser damage of it, not being a kinetic weapon, and having overflow on it and shooting 2 shots instead of 1 considering it's a 140 rpm. I'm not sure if this would at all be better, but it seemed like something to consider

Boosted sword damage vs Crota
Sword guard rework (full strength heavy attacks with any non-zero charge) makes it able to apply the debuff more frequently
Really neat. I wonder if a similar interaction exists with worldline, since the sword charge delay can be reduced by swapping between weapons. Obviously you have to run for a few seconds for the burst but it could be fun

I guess you can pair Worldline with the taken shotgun from last season with Cascade point for an extended burst of damage. The problem comes with needing a fast enough to weapon swap to AND ready up cascade point again, and I doubt there is any legendary weapon that could do that without losing significant DPS.
@@SlyRockoone shot from trinity ghoul procs cascade point, since it's technically 3 critd, but it's obviously some of the worst dps possible. Not sure how it washes out with cascade point

This might be one of the funniest, but also coolest ways to try and make a pretty forgotten and mid exotic look desirable. I honestly might try this since I tend to be doing Tractor in most raids I do with my group lmao.

I always want to attempt things like this because I love maximizing DPS potential, but it always seems out of reach with my team (not everyone takes the game as serious) and my skill level. Coordinating shoot to loot + aeons finishers and swapping from tractor to heartshadow all while not dying to Crota... seemed impossible but I wanted to try. So I asked my friend to throw on aeons and he graciously said "sure, I can do that."
I successfully did everything, including shooting heavy ammo in between the time before last stand started. I ended up highest damage, 5.1 mil while providing a 30% debuff for my team and it was SATISFYING AS HELL. The next highest person on my team had 4.5 mil.

Like what combo of swords is the best combo... 2 Heartshadow (w/Shotguns and DPS supers), 1 Heartshadow (Strand Banner Titan for Sword buff) 1 Heartshadow (w/shotgun Wellock 2nd well) 1 Zephyr (Slow/Freeze Crota, This person could also run Lumina/Boots of Assy/ 1st well), 1 Lamet (Stronghold for Crota's Gaze during pre-DPS, Burning Maul at Final Stand?)

Do you need Lucent blades for this to work? Also I am wondering how much heavy do you lose when swapping to and from heart shadow? Does this have any viability in other bosses or is this limited to just crota because of the sword DPS increase?
Yes you need 3 Lucent Blades if you're swapping fast, and you lose a LOT so if you're Tractor swapping you need a supportive team, and no, this is mostly just limited to Crota
I think maybe just 1 would be fine. Just experiment in the enclave to tweak it out and see what works.

While doing this with Tractor on Titan, is it better to Banner of War with some sort of 12P rotation, or just CuirassCrash when shotgun needs reloading? And if Banner of War is better, is just using the Super for a shotgun reload worth it? Since I would be worried about debuff timer running out (I don’t know the timings)

Do you have any suggestions about the goldtusk aerial combo on Crota and making it work better? I had a phase on day 1 where I slapped him so hard with it while he was stunned. Not sure if you did testing on it in the past
I have heard is hitbox is too inconsistent. You are better off doing a grounded light x2 into heavy and it does great that way, not as great as bequest but that’s bequest for ya.

Im guessing the best surges to use for this rotation would be 2 void and one kinetic if we don’t have a vorpal comedian? Was thinking ragnild with frenzy would be my best option. Also for tractor swapping would you be able to extend the debuff when crota goes into last stand?

Wouldn't running "The Comedian" with Vorpal work better due to being able to use matching void surges? Albeit removes the option for shoot to loot traces but still, I'm curious for the damage difference

When you swap to heartshadow and shoot the heavy bricks, are you using 1x void scav and losing 1 surge or swapping again after shooting the bricks?
You can do either and it won't affect your damage much, probably the scav method
if your on titan doing this combo would it be worth to use a 1,2 punch shotgun with strand melee weaving or is it just better to use frenzy

Here's a thought hearts shadow on the banner of war 12p load out. You 12p double melee 12p melee heart shadow shotgun swap then finish with super when you reload shotgun

Towards the end of the video you said how you needed a decent kinetic ammo shotgun, but as of s23 the void lightweight retrofuturist got reprised and rolls with auto loading + vorpal/frenzy. Do you think this would be a good alternative to a kinetic shotty since you can do surge matching? I also recognise that it is lightweight instead of aggressive but I'm not sure if that would affect damage, clarity and insight would be appreciated :)

How does Imperial Decree with Trench Barrel work for this combo? I was thinking HS heavy, swap and punch, ID shot, swap HS heavy, ID shot, then repeat? Does TB go away when you swap weapons, or do you still get the full 5 sec duration regardless?
Trench is a really bad idea the whole point of this rotation is that the swap shot swap is perfect for the Heartshadow recharge window if you take any longer it's DPS loss
I've actually sometimes been using a Throne Cleaver & Cartesian combo ever since they changed swords.
I crafted a Throne Cleaver with Enhanced En Garde, did the double heavy attack tech for the start of dps, switch to Cartesian and then back to Throne Cleaver
That 3 mil damage probably goes crazy

Swords proc the damage buff on foetracer so it being void makes it ideal since you could tether which could also sub for tractor so no need to swap, right? I'm unsure if the debuff extension applies to tether or not

It is very good in onslaught as well you can stand right by the boss and keeps doing the heavy attack and the boss cannot see you so the boss will not shoot you I use that sword on onslaught legendary and it's a lifesaver when it comes down to your team dying and you picking them up

my question is if crota truly takes more damage from sword and its a large amount than would it be better to have the 15% from heart shadow and have 6 swords? or would it still be better to have a tractor and fusion rifle dps? obv you can have both with extension. But, in a random lfg I don't want to rely on my teammates hitting ceno marks and aeon finshers. I'd rather just have one or the other in an lfg and not have to worry about straning my heavy ammo economy that bad.
It would be worth to Tractor and swap but do more shotgunning instead or focus on fusion rifle DPS over 15% weaken only

25-35%, exact number varies from tester to tester (I got ~25)
Does it have to be a kinetic shotgun? Was wondering if you could equip Gyrfalcons and use the crafted shotgun from RON with Vorpal auto-loading?
Kinetics do more if you want a trace but otherwise Comedian is nice

What would it look like if, instead of a shotgun, you used Supremacy with enhanced kinetic tremors? Fire two shots before swapping back in order to proc the tremors. I mainly ask because I like to have a sniper if I'm on oversoul duty.
KT wouldn't proc enough, you could swap your trace to a fusion if you change early enough
I could be wrong, but it also seems like super damage against crota is increased. I've noticed consistently that the well user on my team does top or near-top damage (and we've rotated around to see) and I always do pretty well with bladefury.

Would it not be better to use a void pellet and kinetic stl so the shotgun can benefit from surges too?
i think the reason for kinetic shotgun was because Aegis wanted to use a trace to scoop heartshadow ammo w/ shoot to loot when loadout swapping from tractor cannon.
but yeah if we ever got a strand or stasis trace with StL then void shotgun would probably be best pair

Comedian is fine too I just picked Ragnhild for convenience, you'd need a way to reload it as well

I am not sure if I understand correctly. I use tractor to apply 30% debuff, then I switch to heartshadow and it’s heavy attack extends tractor 30% debuff instead of applying heartshadow weaken only effect?

Gyrfalcon's for volatile Explosions (I don't know how well the volatile explosion would do for damage, Last time I saw Volatile doing tons of damage was the Retrofit Volatile Bug)

Finally someone else realizes the power of the best looking sword in the game
One build that I love (and functions well up to legendary tier content) is pairing it with gyrfalcon’s I used it to destroy the entire legend campaign in lightfall. It kind of sucks in tier harder than that though and can suffer in some areas like ammo. The mods for season of defiance made it goated in that regard.
Been using it with a Felwinters Helm build and it’s been doing surprisingly well

I was genuinely testing Heartshadow the night before Day 1, and felt like I was both crazy, and onto something. Glad to see my hunch was vindicated.
It’s only because crota has a melee damage multiplier, heart shadow is still bad elsewhere
Heartshadow is pretty mediocre outside of Crota and here it's only good because it's shotgun swap-compatible
I am aware of this, minus some edge cases in nightfall content, but the testing was specifically oriented towards the Day One Crota experience.@@TheAegisRelic

@@Ngineer11 guessing 3L is better total but worse DPS than 2L, so depends how fast the rest of your team is killing crota; but you no longer need full sword energy for a heavy since the guard rework, it just has to start regenning after the delay

Make Shot in the Dark's damage increase higher, tighten projectile spread, and maybe add a fifth projectile with catalyst as a start

Inevitably, it seems if someone is hitting that funny big number, people will clear Crota in 2 phases consistently. So I guess use whatever you like, just like with any other raid boss.
Also so wait does Hearthshadow charge while stowed? Or do all swords do that and I’m remembering wrong

i tested hs few days ago, and did 6.3mil with tether.
also tested worldline zero did around 6.7mil with tc.

You just cap to 60 or below and look up for sword damage

Running the game at very high framerates sometimes will make your sword attacks miss. I believe people generally cap their frames at 60 but I am not a speedrunner so don't quote me on that. Only bother with setting a cap yourself if you notice attacks missing, otherwise you should be fine.

Nope. You cannot extend tether's debuff with other debuffs, presumably because it's not timed, just line of sight/distance based.
Correct. Tether is like it's own entity and the debuff only lasts as long as the tether itself does. Therefore, it cannot be extended using void weaken effects. @@sauceinmyface9302

One of my friends swears on Wordline Zero with caty being one of the best weapons for crota (6M+ damage). Would you be able to test it to possibly uncover a secret meta 🤫? The combo they use is 2 tessarect -> 3 light -> run until tessarect is activated -> repeat, and they have 3 lucent blade mods on
It's inconsistent but has some potential. There are much easier options that match the potency.
Tesseract often phases through crota when I tried it as well.
I can test Worldline but I am 99% sure it isn't good
