  • Simple to build DIY hammock stand on a budget! In this video, I run through the process of building a simple, yet durable, functional, and good looking hammock stand. All supplies and tools I used are listed in detail as well as all the cuts and dimensions.
The basic build plan is based off the free build plan on Bob Villa's site. It can be found here:
    www.bobvila.co...
I made a few modifications with some of the hardware and mounting location of the feet, but overall, I felt this was the cleanest looking design on the internet, and all the info was free!
The parts list I used is as follows:
    ~ 7- 8' 2x4's
    ~ 12 - 5" X 3/8" 16tpi hex bolts
    ~ 12 - 3/8" 16tpi nuts (I used nylock nuts)
    ~ 24 - 3/8" washers
    ~ 2 - 2-pack sets of 2" L-brackets with 1" screws
    ~ 10- 3 1/8" cabinet screws with wide washer head and T-15 driver (I bought a 50 pack).
    ~ 2 - 3/8" x 4 1/2" stainless steel eye screws
13-foot hammock like we used: amzn.to/2LXbIK4
    Patio lights we're using: amzn.to/2TzVQlf
Some of the tools I used:
    Empire speed square: amzn.to/3giy0E1
    Dewalt 20 V Max cordless drill/impact driver kit: amzn.to/2LVNpwe
The current version of my Skilsaw circular saw: amzn.to/3ee0m0l
    Jorgensen 6" 3706 wood clamp: amzn.to/3gl7gmA
    6-piece wood-boring paddle drill bit set: amzn.to/3eg9sd2

Awesome, thank you so much. I have a 10 foot hammock stand right now and most hammocks are 13 feet. I definitely dont want to buy another stand! I'll build it instead, thank you for this!

thanks for video. I'm planning to build a hammock stand. I've already got the wood & hammock.
Just curious why your wood is burnt from circular saw? maybe your blade needs cleaning.

Thanks for commenting! I'm pretty sure the blade is just worn out. I'm gonna replace it before my next wood project, that thing smoked out my garage!

@@kirkrasmussen2601 I ended up getting a new blade. $5.99 from Harbor Freight. Worked like a dream, best $5.99 I've spent in a long time!

@@JoeyMesa NICE! I've got a new blade just haven't put it on yet. My hammock stand is still about half built.
My project has become more experimental than creating anything useful YET. lol.
I watched another hammock video. the guy used wood screws. Then another video I watched said never use wood screws for structural. So of course I had to buy a palm nailer lol :)
maybe get some work done on it tomorrow (fingers crossed)

It's currently around 3x what I paid for the 2 x 4's. Hopefully it gets close to what it was.
