I'm both sad and mad about these cancellations. Netflix Marvel shows were exactly what I wanted to watch in a superhero tv adaptation. They were dark, mature, character driven, packed with quality action scenes and deep sentimental moments. And now they are gone. Not because they weren't good, not because they weren't successful, but for stupid meaningless legal rights reasons. Meanwhile, other stupid cringey shows get renewed and multiplied (cough CW). I guess now that Jessica is over, I can watch Batwoman 🤮. This is unfair. They had so much potential. They left so many questions unanswered. Would Luke turn to the dark side? Would he become the new big villain for the Defenders? Would Dany get his powers back and how? What would be next for Jessica after embracing her role as a hero? What would happen with Daredevil and Bullseye? Would the Punisher join the Defenders? Would Trish be redeemed? I liked her a lot, but it turned out she was the bad sister and Jess was the good one. So much untapped potential... It's just sad.

I think they did a great job of using super powers as a metaphor for dealing with abuse and trauma.
Jessica knows that trauma is very complicated, it lingers, it takes time to cope with, and there aren’t any magical epiphanies that can solve everything.
Trish is looking for the magical cure all. She thinks super powers will solve all her problems. She’s always conflated Jessica’s super powers with power over everything in her life, as if Jessica could make her problems go away if she just learned to use her powers better. She outright tells Jessica that now that she has powers, she doesn’t need Jessica to protect her anymore.
That's what's so tragic about Trish, she thinks that it's Jessica's super powers that helped her get through those tough times, but it was their relationship, their friendship, and their emotional bond that really got them through all those horrible events.

Absolutely couldn’t have said it better! And I genuinely do not understand why Trish even allowed her mom back into her life after pretty much selling her body at 15 years old to 40-year-old man, forcing her to throw up in the toilet after eating food, getting so angry she’d hit her with objects And cut her with knives. Her mother was a freaking terrorist, and I cannot stand that she allows her in her life still. I’m beginning to think the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

METalGod66 Frank knows when to stop and he doesn’t care for recognition. Trish wanted to be a hero, get praised for her actions, feed her ego but she wasn’t really willing to put in the work for it. Jessica on the other hand doesn’t take advantage of her powers and lets the law deal with the bad guys. It’s also about the people that Frank and Trish sorround themselves with. Franks closest friend was Karen who supported his actions. The people in Trish’s life didn’t though. If she had someone like Frank or Karen as a friend she would have probably gotten away with it and continued what she was doing.

to play devils Advocate, i think that Malcolm didn't really communicate as much as he should have. His girlfriend practically wasn't in the full know of how bad shit was. Granted he was not allowed to talk about it he still chose it and chose to stay in bad influences for a bit instead of talk about the truth. Not many people know how truly awful Jerry and her methods are. I would say he wasn't truly bad but he could've theoretically done better. Also cheated on his girl which pretty much auto solidifies him as the bad one.

What I don't get the most is that when Jessica have found the evidence to nail the killer, why did they continue to mess with him? It really annoyed me that Jessica went to that gym where he was teaching wrestling to kids. I told her to get out of there before he see you, but she still stood there like a dummy. She really massed up when she embarrassed him. they should've showed the evidence to the police so they can nail him.

I really love the entire series, as much as I did like Trish and was hoping she would be good it became clearer throughout the season that it wasnt going to happen. The way they portrayed her not only in this last season but the entire series actually leaves tons of hints of who she is at her core. This is the proper way to make a good character with good intentions become the villain because for 99% of that downward spiral she doesn't even think of herself as the villain. The way they made Jessica Jones have to hunt and stop the very last of her family was incredibly well done and really defining of her character. This show will always be one of my favorites. Great breakdown video.

Ironically, Trish was more a side character and originally not strong enough for her own series. But I can see her now being picked up for a Hellcat series, given her arc. Can she recover her compass and get redemption, like Black Widow? Only time (and the MCU) will tell.

Losing her ego would be part of a solo Hellcat character arc, just as Jessica losing her denial of her ego (to be a hero) was part of her character arc. Darth Vader overcame his ego, why can't Trish? In the comics, the character does evolve into a more self-controlled and competent hero, eventually.

Translated to an adult level series, the "family and friends becoming enemies" theme parallels Peter Parker's situation in Spiderman with Harry Osborne. It shows you how deeply ahead of the curve Stan Lee was in doing that plot in a family-oriented comic in the '60's and '70's.

I agree they are both better off separated, but I do not see Zeya as a victim of Macolm's deceit. I have no doubt Zeya would have done everything Malcom did had Hogarth asked her instead. It’s not morally wrong to kill someone who’s genuinely evil in my opinion. Trish did take it too far with that one guy though. She should’ve tried harder to make sure she had all the facts about him. If you wanna talk about how you should leave things to the law, well, the law says certain states can kill via death penalty anyway (and innocent people have gotten it). People think killing is bad unless you do it while wearing a badge or having a special title.

They were also concerned that she would no longer be able to decide who was truly evil or deserving of death, which I agree with. But I definitely agree that some people do deserve death. It's not even the worst punishment they can get. It's more to keep them from doing more harm to others. I would personally force someone to suffer for a long time if I was focused on their punishment.

    • @canary177

I liked ALL of those shows in varying degrees and from season to season. Love the way they tied in and crossed over. Great acting and casting on every show (yes, including Iron Fist). While the actor Finn Jones was a strange casting, his acting was okay, but the CHARACTER of Danny Rand was ... messy. But these shows were character driven and pretty well written for my tastes (even if everyone in the cast said "The City/This city" about half a million times). I loved the whole RAND family (and actors) in Iron Fist. This young lady played this Jessica role to the hilt. I wish I could find a depressed, horny chick like that. Cage was off the chain for the most part. Wanted to see where THAT was headed. Daredevil/Matt, along with Iron Fist/Danny, grew a bit hypocritical and contradictory with their personal and moral hero codes; but you gotta take some bad shit too in most series shows. Overall I'm happy they made all those Marvel shows, enjoyed watching them; don't want my time or money back; and I'm sad they all got cancelled and wanted at least 1 more season from each.

Trish and Jessica both got done dirty. Jessica Jones season 1 was one of the best seasons of any show I have ever watched. The combination of Jessicas hilarious dark sense of humor, Trish as the loveable little sister/sidekick and Kilgrave as one of the best villians ever, was just so perfect.
Season 2 ruined Trish by turning her into a jealous self righteous prick then season 3 went all out and turned her into a villian. If that weren't enough to ruin what was a perfect show, they completely got rid of Jessicas sense of humor, leaving season 3 with pretty much no comic relief.
I'm glad the show ended here.

Trish was supposed to kill Salinger. He murdered her mother. Justice is for the living. The only person due justice for her mother's murder was Trish. Trish took Justice for herself. That doesnt make her a villian. Not conforming to current standards of resolving damages doesnt make her a villian either, that made her a savage - at best. Most peace officers believe 98% of crimes should be solved with a confrontation on the front lawn. Where Trish becomes a villian is when she murders Jessicas mother to get the part of superhero. No superhuman strength, no retractable claws, no grapples, no force field, no telekinesis, no demon sight, no magic cloak, and especially no suit to augment her powers, which she had early on while her former powers mentioned manifested. All she could do was land on her feet and see in the dark. It’s like they nerfed her power manifestation and wrote her out so no focus will be taken off of Jessica Jones.
