I'm 80, still listening to something that I partied to when I was 30. Enjoy life while you can . . . .
Absolutely our four cornered room opened wide. Godspeed my Friend.
Respect!
I almost envy people who were able to consciously experience the 60s and 70s.
I mean especially in the field of music and art.
even though there was a lot of shit going on at the time.
I am a bit over 40.
love, from Rotterdam nl
And while yall were partying I was in bedroom watching tv, my mom and her friends and some family members were partying down to this!!!!!
@@yoshluv7 lucky you, some of us grew up with ABBA 😅

25 years ago my dad would talk about these long versions of war songs like they were mythical. Thanks, RUclips for making it so accessible
One of the greatest bands, PERIOD.
I’m 51. I was born when this song came out! Thanks to the older generation I appreciate and love it like the generation who heard it first!
A Gypsy man ain't got no home ! I've been a WAR FAN for 50 Years. Even to this day I still hear chords I've never heard. Always a different listening experience ❤
I don't think even the group itself really realized the impact effect of this joint right here! Truly a masterpiece!
You got good taste.
Thank You
Me too :)
Lee Oskar rocks
This is classic stuff! One the greatest bands of the 70s🔥🔥🔥
I love WAR, I've seen them seven times. I love this long version
I'm 65 and this long version of Gypsy Man still gives me goosebumps. This song is awesome. Have you ever heard a better harmonica? I know I haven't.
I am 63 and I’m right with you
Already. NO.
Also 65. Used to run my heart out alone in the mountains with this song in my head.
I JUST turned 62. A local radio station here in Dallas plays oldies but goodies and when this song comes on, look out!!! The volume goes up especially when the vocals at the end of the song goes on and on and on - I'm transported back to the good ole days and in heaven!!
only batter Harmonica is the one I heard you play on the street in a past life in an alternate dimension
War, fabulous, one of the best groups I heard when I was young -
How lucky I was to have grown up with such beautiful music -
This original vinyl version was not widely broadcast on radio stations.
still rocks 50 years later - love it !
Lee Oskar on Harmonicas is Haunting he rocks on this Record.
2021 and I still love this song---I was 13 when it came out---61 years young🥰
How did I miss this fifty years ago? Awesome!
Same here, I'm 65, 1st time hearing this, now my favorite, [u],CDN, War is truly right up there with the best, Zep, Floyd Genesis, basically everything from 1952 Thur 1979.Boyya
racist radio. They didnt play what they called black music.
Lonnie Jordan✊, Howard Scott✊, Lee Oskar✊, B.B. Dickerson✊, Harold Brown✊, Thomas 'Papa Dee' Allen✊, Charles Miller✊.
whoop whoop and fistbumb
love from rotterdam
Lee Oskar killing it on the harmonica!
Remember War quite well in the early 70's. They had a nice footprint. It's great to have this available at our fingertips too.
When music was created and the song gets its life from the spirit of the musicians as they fill it with SOUL and continuity until full completion is attained. Music to my ears is an understatement because my body rocked with all of it. WAR, so Righteous!
That what music is supposed to be
I was a freshman in high school when the album Deliver The Word first came out. GREAT MEMORIES!!!!😊
That's my group amazing talent we miss this kind of music and arrangements from the soul🙏❤🙏👍
I'm 68 and Gypsy Man still moves me. Awesomeness to the nth power.
I'm 69 female from liverpool uk loved this then still love it now ❤
I remember Liverpool back in the 80"s, I didn't drink much but when I did I listened to WAR, I'm a NAVY VET.
BEST HARMONICA BEST BEAT GREAT SONG FIRST HEARD IT IN EARLY 70S
Lee Oskar ❤
I have had this album from day one. Lee Oskar's solo on harmonica is the most beautiful harmonica solo I have ever heard. He lays right in there and delivers it's true meaning. Woooooo weeeee!!!! Beautiful.
There is no one like Lee Oscar that can play the harmonica since war.
Stevie Wonder can blow a harmonica up like dynamic
That's why i belive, we are not alone...in the universe ✨💥💪🏽 (tks to War Bros)
@ Eric Washington,I will not be disagreeing with you,on this day and no other day.😊
Thank you for this song. Kind regards to all listeners, especially to those of old age. Be well, all good wishes to you!
They don't make music like this anymore! , Damn I miss the 70's
You fucking right those guys they genius what a Beat
Am 65 this us my time today it's Garbage Bunch of studio gangster
66 years and still loving this , so many memories of seeing them at The California Ballrooms in Dunstable it was one of "those" nights
I love it! It’s timeless.
Does anyone have any idea why this original long version of Gypsy Man is no longer on any streaming service??? I appreciate this version being available! War is one of the most underrated groups of all time!! It's a disgrace they're not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 😢😢😢
Many don't request it now
.
I had trouble finding it also. Now I'm here I'm in heaven.
One of the greatest groups of all time I seen them in Cleveland twice and they were great put on a show that we were begging for more
I have all of there music
Absolutely one of the best harmonica solos and together!
Absolutely loved this group! Got to see 'em in person back in the day when we actually had good performances in my city. Now have to travel miles and hours to see good groups.
One of best groups from the 70's.
This was a main piece for me in 1973 through about 1980. It’s me FREE!
Almost 50 years and it still takes me for a ride!
Working as a DJ in 1974 in Bournemouth UK. The club was on several floors. I would play this record. It would give me time to get the the toilet and back again before it finished. What a relief!
Best reply on ytube ever
The main reason T.Moulton invented the extended versions!!!
WAR music, a big part of my life. They will always be one of my favorites forever.

John you are awesome my brother.
Such a great band! Still sounds just as great decades later.
We were Jamming to this Music !!!!!!! ♥️ Everybody had the Album too !!!!! ♥️
One of the best musical groups of all time! Incorporating so many styles in their music: Rock, jazz , soul and talented vocals unequaled today. If they are not there they should be in the rock and roll hall of fame!!
YES THEY SHOULD BE THATS A FACT !!!!
I agree with you totally
Snubbed 3 times
i agree..
Just another group of fantastic musicians snubbed by the so-called-r-n-r-h-o-f. That, my friends, is just plain fucking sad!
Only nice people and beautiful animals in them there hills. Funn to jog my memory of some sunny daze!
Driving down Jane at around Finch in Toronto and I am just grooving this song full blast windows down. I had not looked around but when I did there were all these people dancing to it. Made my day.
Jane and finch a tough place to live only the strong survive
One of my favorites..Killer sound deep passion burning .
One of my best jams of the 70s. This music is magical

@ royston macadam, to the people that know War, they are not underated, but I do understand, why you would make that statement.
My GROWN ears are LOVING this TUNE 50 yrs later!!!❤❤❤🎶🎵🎶🎵🔥🔥🔥
War was my Mom's group during this period!
Muy gratos recuerdos con esta canción, año 1976 mas o menos

hey kindred one, i'm 61 too, absolutely the BEST years ...take me back!!
Tenía 14 años, aún un niño y entré en una discoteca y justo a lo que entre, la luz tenue de color rojo, amarillo y negro, posters y cuadros fosforescentes, un aroma a incienso, escuchaba una melodía que se quedó en mi disco duro. GYPSY MAN / HOMBRE GITANO. En ocasiones nos mirábamos y solo nos vehíamos los ojos y la sonrisa, jaja, producto de la luz negra fosforescente que en esa época era de moda, una delicia. Saludos desde Ecuador
Lee Oskar is the best harmonica player simply awesome.
This is and was an amazing band...WAR...
The collective harmonic support & blending of ....sounds & movements & energy...great individual musicians appear even more so as the collective!
I concur George. This is some of the very best music of my time! I am grateful and appreciative of ALL their talents.

This is amazing. So many classic songs. Too underrated, this band.
everybody was too good to chose
We used to jamm this at Hippy Hill 1978 Golden Gate Park everybody dancin' congas jammin in the background incense, herb blowin' through the air aww such sweet memories 🤗💖
when the city was rea!
This is beautifully deep song. The journey of someone trying to make their way in a new place willing or unwillingly.
Very true Roger!!
For years outlaw was a song I felt was written for me. When I left that life a few yrs ago this song seemed to come alive to me and once again it describes me to a tee. I've finally settled here in the desert southwest in the middle of nowhere. My family has become 2 mongrel hounds from hell that are alert and overprotective and a horse that isn't gunshy. The few acres I have here I now call paradise. The only thing I see anymore when I ride my chopper 15 miles to get what I need to sustain us is prairie dogs and road runners. People there seem to know me now but keep their distance even before this virus thing started. I like it that way and what time I have left on this earth I will be happy to spend with my little family listening to music like this and never looking back. I even got rid of my rear view mirrors because I know where I've been.
It's a mystery how a band as talented as War being from Los Angeles, the 2nd largest media market wasn't more famous Nationally, or Universally? life just isn't fair .
@@kelliejohnson3050 Hey. I was in Pittsburgh then Chicago and knew who they were. They helped me survive high school. The real mystery is why they keep getting overlooked for the R&R hall of fame. Not that it really matters.
It's the kind of song that can have a different meaning for everyone who hears it. Universal and timeless. It kicked ass in 1973 and it kicks ass right now in 2021.
From 1973 to 2023 this is still my jam
Just Graduated from 8th grade when this came out 63 Now bring back good memories miss those Days 😩
I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA in '73 when I saw them do this song live in San Diego. Paid scalpers prices but it was worth it.
I was at Camp Pendleton in ‘73. Semper Fi !
Hells ya I would pay any amount of money to go back and see this ......, I wasn’t born till 80 lol
I was a 13 year old listening to War in 1973. Living in Detroit, MI, still in elementary school. I miss that time in life, the Vietnam veterans were coming home and for us younger guys in Detroit we had the honor and pleasure to learn how to become men at such a young age, we learned so much from men of WWII, Korean War Veterans and Vietnam Veterans. They played the coolest music and War was a favorite music to hear being played in those cars that are classic today. To bad the youngsters of today have parents that didn't have or get the guidance I received from such honorable people Black and White, they were the coolest ever they are the real Americans not these people using it from a political career and ya'll falling for that nonsense not really knowing who an American is. Mush honor to the Veterans and Musicians of yesteryears now long gone and many of them as well. My honor and loyalty is with them. Their my Heroes.
Man that must have been AWESOME!
Me and a buddy of mine saw them in a blues club that sat "maybe" 200 people ..... it was packed and we were the only white dudes there beside Lee Oskar ......early 70's, Stache and Little Brother's .... Columbus, Ohio ...... what a great show !!!
So unique, so real, really down to Earth band. War (peace) forever!
God Oscar sounded so great and expressive here.

as a kid in the 70's i listened to this song on 8track on the album war greatest hits in my brothers 63 chevy impala in a small town in central california called woodlake.
Me and my crew was cruising Daly City and on down El Camino Real doing the same thing in my '64.
My Culture Music
Them Nigga's was rolling in 70's
The gypsy man and the Cisco kid were friends of mine. Together, we spilled the wine and cruised our low riders in Long Beach.
And we were outlaws ❤
but im a grypsy woman and i feel like i dont have a home also. thats why i love this song so much. I have to move from one place to another for whatever the reasons are. Forget about living with other people, then i am miserable asf. so that is not an option and i dont want anyone living with me cuz i like being alone for my sanity and privacy
The name of the album was "Deliver the Word"
Saw WAR approx 1975 Santa Clara University Gymnasium the new tent roof stadium. Than saw them many times after. Best time to be a teenager low riding East San Jose. Will never be a time like that again.
War has been awesome since forever. In the 70's it was 8 track tapes. 'Four corner room' and that entire tape was and still awesome. I have to get paid to tell a story based on this tape back in the 70's.❤
I remember my dad had this song on his PC. I used to listen at it alot when I was teenager. And it stills kicks in. Too bad the whole version isnt on spotify

I was in the u.s. navy when this came out to all my old shipmates uss ranger cva 61 traeling song because we felt like gypsys,
~ This song + City Country City + Low Rider + many others = the non-disposable, non-formulaic, brilliant music that is part of the backbone of dance/disco/house music that made me love rhythmic, not necessarily screaming, non-electric guitar focused, music as much as I do. From the world where Chicago Transit Authority and the Rolling Stones co-exist flawlessly with James Brown and Aretha Franklin and Blondie and Trouble Funk and the Crusaders and Rare Earth and Jimi Hendrix and Santana and Madonna and the Four Tops. The music of War is eternal and thank you for posting this in its original vinyl glory. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
Simply awesome! Always freshing to the soul...
Very powerful message
this is Universal music
Awesome sounds,I love this long version
We all should write a petition letter to BET, asking to recognize the 1 and only group War! Let the kids and the grand kids get the Honors!
Hello, I just read the comment about the petition. Yes let's
try to start it before the month of May ends. Or really before the Summer ends. Whomever would like to get it written, get started. Maybe it can passed through a text to be signed. Afterwards, a Local radio Station can get it to Ms. Cathy Hugh's ( the General Manager), with hopes that our favorite
Artist (War) will get the recognition, they've missed and desired. Let's do it! Thanks
keep me posted.
YEAH FOLKS WAR MADE MANY GREAT SONGS--BUT I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THEIR VERY BEST
Great Traveling Music, across the map .........
The ending of this song with the fade out harmonica both gives me goosebumps and tears to my eyes. Why this band is not in the Hall Of Fame is a travesty....TJ STRUSKA
