  • Basic Information:
    Siren: Federal Signal Model 5
    Town: Lowell, Ohio (Washington County)
System: Lowell-Adams Fire Department Siren System
    Location: Lowell-Adams Fire Department
    Tested: As Needed
    Uses: Fire Siren
    Cycle: Short Attack
    Other Notes:
I happened to be down in the area prior to the Belpre Chemical siren test, so I stopped in nearby Lowell to hear their Model 5 that they so generously sounded for me. Dispatch tried paging the siren but to no avail, so we used the push button in the station to sound it. It sounded really good and was honestly one of the louder Model 5s I've filmed over the years! Enjoy!

I had no idea siren nerds were a thing. Not hating just saying.

Oh we are definitely a thing lol. We even have a yearly convention in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin where we bring a massive diesel generator, a whole bunch of sirens, and hundreds of people show up to watch/listen. That probably sounds insane or fake, but look up SirenCon and you will see. This year was the 4th annual event. I’ve yet to make it to one myself, but hopefully next year.
I’ve been in the community since it was a couple dozen of us on a message board in the late 1990s and I was 9 years old, and now there are tens of thousands of people in various groups.
