It turns out that Ruby, a smart and cautious bear, had parked her kids in a safe place while she performed a quick inspection of the porch before the formal meet-and-greet. For a first visit I've got to say that the cubs look pretty relaxed, not intimidated at all. They didn't even flinch when Ruby walked down the stairs, leaving them alone for a second.
Knowing that she's doing well has definitely made my day. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

our neighbor in Hendersonville. put a giant fence around his field. It has really decreased the wildlife we see on our remote cameras. We so miss the bears, coyotes and many deer and turkey we used to see regularly. You are a sweet Godsend because we still get to see these wonderful beings every morning on youtube. Looking forward to see the cubs Thank you so much.
Can’t you excavate “a little drainage ditch” on your side of that pesky old fence? Also, bears are climbers as you noticed… But bears and other animals will navigate their way back to a source of kindness. I hope no one injures them. They are legally protected up there in NC, I hope. He’s probably concerned that someone pet cat or dog might be injured in attempting to protect their home and family! Mine did! Fool dog but it was successful, I nearly had a heart attack! That dog was lucky. Seeing that wild furry canine with every hair standing on its end and barking its head off would have scared me, too! That is really unfriendly of your neighbour.to.do that!! . Obviously he did it to protect his land from the animals. Perhaps he doesn't like animals but doesn't know what he is missing!

@@e.conboy4286Really wish bears were protected in NC. They are not. Baiting and hunting with dogs is legal plus they just extended bear and deer hunting seasons by two weeks. Huge opposition from the public regarding hunting in park areas. Petitions and letters from the public are ignored by the NCWildlife Commission. Hunting with dogs is barbaric but they won’t listen. Bait traps are set and cameras alert hunters. I see no sport in either. Record numbers of bears killed in the last two hunting seasons.
How great is it to see her cubs. They are quite the little cuties.

Ruby is experienced mom, she knows how to keep her space from humans and her babies and she knows not to hang around but for a few minutes and returns to her territory most likely to help them feed that's if she is their still suckling from her. She's a beautiful Gem.. A wonderful sight of mother nature.

Bear Ruby looks beautiful. I knew she was going to have cubs, and they are adorable. The respectful and trusting relationship you have with Ruby, Simone and others is really special.
They learned because they are highly intelligent who to consider trustworthiness and loyalty. She knows Pat will not harm her babies but observes and respects her presence with her babies. After all shes not going to stay long but for a few minutes and then return to her home which is the forest. This is why its important to maintain and keep forests bc this is what they consider their territory, not construction bulldozers destroying their lively hood all what they only know as a place for their survival.

There's a deep level of trust here, all the while she's fully capable of catching up with you in just a few steps and take you out completely with a single swipe of a clawed paw, she is trusting you and would never take those babies so close if she didn't trust you.
Agree, Patruck earned her respect. As long as he remains cool and calm and doesn't react to her in a negative mean way she has loyalty towards him bc she knows what humans to trust and what humans won't harm her or her babies. They are highly intelligent and have a good memory and she recognizes his voice from a baby cub herself. Rubys a peaceful bear.
