- There are many different factors to consider when deciding if buying a Toyota hybrid is right for you instead of a non Toyota hybrid.
In this video, I cover the most important factors to help make you understand if hybrid is the right choice or not. I cover topics like, driving style, maintenance cost and hybrid wait times in this video.
Thanks for watching.

I bought a 2024 Rav4 XLe last December. I was getting around 32 to 33 MPG. Now is getting warmer here in NYC and I'm getting 37 to 38 MPG. When buying a hybrid the weather plays a role in how much gas you save.
I love my hybrid ❤ mostly city driving.
Love my RAV4 Prime and hoping we see more of them available after the North Carolina battery plant opens in 2025-26 time frame.
Its not about is hybrid good or is ice bad, but why do dealers deserve our business anymore?
If is non Turbo, yes.
Buying a rav4 this weekend, thanks for posting this
How's the wait time ?
@@justinandout Got the last Hybrid they had
Meanwhile in other parts of the world the RAV4 is only available in hybrid or plug-in hybrid, so it clearly isn’t an issue.
It’s even worse to let a hybrid sit for long periods if it is using a metal hydride traction battery instead of a lithium battery. Metal hydride self-drains faster than lithium. I drive my metal hydride hybrid at least twice a week and have mild winters with an insulated garage. 30K miles and I still get great MPG.
Don't know where your located but I have three Toyota dealers within about 30 miles of me and they all have several hybrid Rav4s available. I have a deposit down on a RAV4 hybrid that has been shipped and on its way.
Will we be able to buy the upcoming Crown Signia or it'll become same "unobtanium" as other Toyota vehicles ?
Toyota should make 12v battery charger standard for all hybrids sold in Canada so that owners can plug in to charge the 12v in cold winter to prevent depletion if they drive short distance.
Is it that demand is so high for hybrid Toyotas that results in long wait times in Canada, or Toyota prioritizing production for other more profitable markets? Saw 22 hybrid Rav4 on a dealer lot in Tucson AZ a month ago
Canada is low priority for Toyota for sure.
BC Richmond Toyota dealers don't accept hybrid orders unless you have a car they want to trade in with. Their strategy is brilliant.
What is considered "high speed"? My daily drive has me on a 90 to 100km highway for 10 min each way. Still waiting for my Highlander Hybrid since Oct 2023.........sigh.....
Minus ten? Try -25, -35, -40C on the Prairies. At -10 C people wear shorts in Edmonton. Not kidding. So what is the battery loss of efficiency in real cold?
As someone in the business, do you believe new Toyota products are overpriced?
I should probably get a non-hybrid (don't drive that much), but I also don't want a turbo engine.
So, which models should I be looking at?
See if you can still get a non-hybrid 2024 Camry. They get great mileage. Probably can one cheaper with 2025’s being released.
@@TripleBergThanks.
Buy RAV4 Hybrid, I have a 2020 RAV4 XSE. It’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned many over the years, I’m 66 years old
@willy2051 thanks for the information.
@@watchman1178 Because he was impressed with my 2020 Avalon hybrid, my friend went out and bought a RAV4 hybrid. He loved it and bought a second one. If I could find a low mileage 2022 Avalon, I’d snap it up. That was the last year they made them because everyone wants SUVs. Might want to look at the 2024 Venza. A more upscale version of the RAV4.
Kinda confused. One part of video said wouldn’t buy if ….then at end said it’s fine if on those same few items (highways, faster speeds, sitting for periods of time).
There are no downsides to buying a hybrid. If you can find one and they will let you drive it, you will understand. I have a 2023 Lexus ES300h Ultra Luxury Trim and get 42+ MPG in city/highway driving around town and about 40 on road trips. It is the bridge to full-on EVs, which are not ready for prime time yet. Solid-state battery technology needs to be perfected so that you can get a minimum of 500 miles per charge and less degradation in cold weather.
CATL and BYD have partnered with other battery manufacturers to perfect solid-state battery technology. Hopefully, the partnership will not fall apart and a great solid-state battery will result from the partnership. They are the top two electric battery manufacturers in the world, period!
Do You think Toyota will Offer the New RAV4 Hybrid in the Beautiful Ocean Gem (Teal🩵-Blue) Color 😍😎?? Just like the New 2025 Camry Hybrid 🥰.?
Hybrid good if you drive under 40mph a lot
I still get 40 mpg at a constant 60 mph in my RAV4 hybrid.
Lies.
Nope. I like my ICE and 8 speed transmission. Now get off my yard 😂❤
eCVTs are reliable and not clunky.
