Ray and Zach discuss the Toyota revelations they've learned from a nice Canadian Toyota dealer named Marcello. Essentially, Toyota waitlists are gigantic, folks have DIED before getting theirs, and some dealers are refusing to accept deposits because they have no idea when certain models will arrive! Guys, don’t be like Scotty Kilmer with sensational titles that exaggerate a situation. Recently all your video titles somehow claim doomsday for every auto OEM. You do great content, don’t fall into click bait titles
Scotty is the real deal don't hate
Can't stand that dude. I always click on. Don't recommend on his videos
@@Arctic5fox ya but I bet you can't tell me a good reason not to listen to him
@@adamsteele6148I can. He’s obnoxious.
@@adamsteele6148bad information.
A dealership saying, I'll be honest with you. Sets off massive red flags.
Exactly 😂
The years are 2023.
In 2017, when I bought my Camry, the dealer had 225 cars on their lot. Now they have five, yes five, cars on their lot. My wife needed a car, so based on reviews, we drove one mile down the street to the Mazda dealership. They had plenty of vehicles in various trim levels. We left with a 2023 CX-5, and honestly, I like it better than my Camry. Everything about the car is exceptional, and great economy, too.
@@menguardingtheirownwallets6791 My neighbor has a Mazda 3 Carbon Turbo. The car is insane. If I didn’t buy my wife the CX-5, I would have bought one for myself.
Mazdas are nice and more modern but you will pay much more for maintenance over time. Their parts simply aren’t the same quality as Toyota and Honda. AC will almost definitely need to be replaced.
What is happening at Toyota couldn’t be anymore simple. They deliberately slowed production on all cars and kept production low on the more expensive, high profit autos. The vast majority of chip makers are back to full production. So, it’s not waiting for chip and other parts. It’s greed plain and simple. Just like the American big three auto makers. Very disappointing Toyota. You’re better than that. Kudos to Ray and Zach with their informative videos. Please keep the great work!👍
Yes, I have a feeling that Toyota is intentionally slowing production (in anticipation for a slowing economy) to be conservative and ready for the downturn. I have no proof of course but like you said, the shortage should have been over months ago and their factories should be humping 24x7 to catch up. Toyota is helping its customers so I am actually happy to see Toyota loyalists switch to Teslas and Mazdas. Once they switch, they might not ever come back.
Others would argue that it’s smart business to keep supply in line, or even slightly behind, demand to keep prices up even in a slowing economy. As long as Toyota maintain their quality reputation, it’s a smart strategy. There’s plenty other car manufacturers that will sell cars for > 10% off of MSRP due to supply > demand.
I don’t think Toyota is any more or less greedy than other car manufacturers, but I do think that they’re well aware that they have more leverage than most.
I think that it's more so they're spending too much effort in trying to figure out their next big alternative to gas which sucks because I don't think they're going to be successful in it. Allocating resources where they shouldn't be thus creating a genuine shortage and potentially a loss of jobs.
Don't need mentioning that yen has been dropped deeply.
do you have any EVIDENCE Toyota is deliberately slowing down production, or are you making assumptions based on your FEELS?
Feels like the former Soviet Union where people waited years to get a Lada.
Took a year to get tank turret off and armour removed before they could call it a Lada
The good thing about Toyota holding back production or probably selling elsewhere for more money, will force customers to break brand loyalty and try another competitor. It could actually be a good thing for customers.
That is already happening. Honda CRV is taking over sales from RAV4. I am seeing a lot of New Honda CRV model on roads than RAV4
Good Point there are plenty of other amazing brands to choose from. Fun fact. My buddy had an Avalon about 10 years ago. That was bougt back as a lemon. Toyota reliability is good, but it’s not the end all
Toyota quality leads the world. Cars & SUV's. They're constantly filling up the top 5 lists all over the world. You claiming to know of 1 lemon, doesn't override 30 years of statistics. The Toyota Camry and Toyota Rav4 are ALWAYS above any Honda. That's not just in the USA, that's world-wide. @@2steaksandwiches665
I'm seeing a ton of RAV4's here in Sourthern California. That said, the CRV is def bubbling@@pinakmiku4999
My case. I have to change my Ram to something less thirsty. Back to office story. I had many Toyotas before and always was happy. Visited a Toyota dealership (call it's a toy dealership from now on), didn't even talk to reps. They looked unapproachable :). Not a single car on the lot, of course. Went and ordered Mazda CX-30. Still a wait, but only a couple of months. And no mind games there. MSRP, PDI, Freight and taxes, $1000 down, approximate delivery date on sales contract, no outlandish fees, no attempts to sell crappy "accessories" and unwanted "warranties". No Toyotas for me from now on. Meanwhile a buddy is still waiting for Siena ordered at the end of 2021. Southern Ontario.
Another toronto canuck here. We had to buy a car this year after watching on the sidelines for 18months( replace our 2005 pilot ) while waiting for the prices to drop. With all the hgh taxes we pay when buying a new car in Canada thought I will have to bite the bullet and buy the car we needed now. Bought a used sienna above MSRP from a Honda dealership because toyota made us feel less than human ( my neighbour has the same story). (This town is nuts - I remember when i was refitting a bathroom, the sales person made you feel worse than what in that toilet.) Anywayswe bought the car and drove to the the US. We parked beside another Sienna Hybrid. The gentlemen tells use this is his third Hybrid sienna. He sold the other 2 at a profit and said he was keeping this one. Hey Canada, Toyota doesn't want your canadian dollars $can= $US-30%. Please look at the numbers of unit being exported to get an idea of market manipulation.
Anybody who looks to Nissan as an alternative to Toyota, doesn't know what they are doing.
Thus far, I am perfectly happy with my Nissan. I get 44.5 MPG on the expressway. Wait till someone totals your car. See if you'll wait two years for an over-priced Toyota.
@@Jan96106 The failure rate during the warranty period and shortly after is nearly 6%. Nissan incurred an average expense of $3,332 per warranty repair.
In the period from 2009-2020 Nissan issued an astounding 139 technical service bulletins and updates covering changes to the diagnosis and repair of its CVT automatic transmissions. The comparable numbers for Toyota, Mazda and Honda Canada are less than 10 bulletins each.
I was lucky. I contacted a dealer a couple days ago, he said a Venza Le was on the way. I'm picking it up Thursday. Paying near MSRP with just a few hundred dollars of accessories. I'm ok with that. I just have to drive 5 hours from Wisconsin to Iowa.
venza should be msrp all day, unless you mean below
I feel they are trying to force renegotiate their Distributor relationship.
The distributors are parasites on the brand. Toyota makes half the profit in North America than they do elsewhere because of the distributors, so it's no wonder that they are in no hurry to allocate cars here.
When I see someone in an early 00s Toyota Corolla or Camry I think "now that's a smart guy." Now, when I see someone in a brand new Toyota I think "good lord how much did they overpay?
I got a 23 tacoma brand new at MSRP. It totally depends on what dealer you go to. These guys act like the sky is falling. Arm chair journalism. I also drive a 2005 Honda beater. 😂
yup those older years toyotas were a fantastic value, and now not so much
@@270emansame just bought a 2024 rav4 hybrid no mark up. Also drive a 04 Honda beater but might give it to one of my buddies who needs a good dependable car

These comments are fun. I can’t imagine thinking that buying a car at MSRP is a sound financial decision, lol. I’ll keep my 2 maintenance free 10-year old Toyotas that I bought used. Thanks.
Its their production system, Toyota uses a modified version of a "just-in-time" system. Meaning, they order the parts they need and they don't really keep parts supply on hand. This hit them hard during the COVID lockdown, when parts were not readily available. As its a great system when parts are readily available, but not when there is shortages.
They really didn't think this one through.
Yes, the "just-in-time" system just grinds to a halt when parts are not readily available. It stops production right after you use the last part you have at the factory.
you realize nearly every company in the world in manufacturing tries to replicate the "Toyota method"
The company I work for does JIT and our lead times got trashed during and post covid.
this is nonsense, Toyota is having a record production year.
ALL eight of my local Toyota dealerships are still asking $5K-$10K for any new Rav4 Prime that they receive. One of those dealerships had a salesperson call me and tell me that $10K over was a steal for a Rav4 Prime! 😂
The shortage of top-of-the-line vehicles and those willing to pay extra to have them first drives the market adjustment. Look at PS5's and Xbones a few years ago, it was insanity trying to get one and people paid a large % over MRSP for them for quite a while. Scale to car level and there ya go lol
If they can get it, it's a smart move - why leave $10K on the table?
All you have to do is shop across state lines. West coast Toyota dealerships have plenty of inventory.
But they don't stock all wheel drive models.
Went into Toyota dealership for a Camry. All their used ones were rentals. We entertained purchasing a new 2024 Camry, but the lot had none for sale aside from the optioned out floor model. The few that were there had already been sold. In fact, we test drove a Camry that had already been sold. We saw their build sheet for October incoming inventory and from that list we negotiated a deal below MSRP.
dealership around me has crazy amount of camry. I don't think camry is as popular as other model. In fact, there is a post in caredge that stated he got 28k OTD for 2024 CAMRY SE
Toyota hybrid SUV’s and minivans are the most sought after Toyota models at the moment. American people love their SUV’s and minivans.
@@hamster6093That’s nuts. Recently got an LE with extra safety features than the base model and got the total to just be around 30k after taxes. Was really hoping to get an SE at MSRP with some additional add ons on it but the deal couldn’t be made. Saw a fully maxed out SE model a few weeks later and was so disappointed when I saw it on the lot
@@andynguyen6885 got to be patient in this market. I doubt they will hide some vehicle to show some "shortage" for camry. I heard lots of time that camry is not that high demanding now there must be some room for price
Long time Toyota buyer here. Went to a lot this Summer and there was nothing on the lot. Screw it. I went down the street and bought a Mazda. Beautiful car. CX90. I love it.
We did the same. See my post above. We ended up with a CX-5 - I’m sure the CX90 is awesome.
Good choice. CX90 is a good car and it helps boost the Mazda brand as many (including myself) defaults to Toyota. But Toyota is definitely pissing their customers off now.
this is nonsense, Toyota is having a record production year.
It wasn't nonsense this past summer to drive to the Toyota lot where I previously purchased vehicles from a sea of choices, only to find 7 or 8 new cars. My eyes clearly saw the difference. I had no interest in the dog and pony show of ordering, waiting months and months, only to NOT be able to negotiate from the sticker, but to face Additional Dealer Markup costs for a Toyota. I love my new Mazda.@@user-jm5dw3gm8y
Placed order in mid August with $1k deposit, just picked up our new 2024 Sienna XLE AWD this Saturday… besides the color (this is gray and our first two picks were black or red), it’s everything we wanted. They did force to add some accessories, but besides the illuminated door sill, everything else was what we wanted to start with anyway (side molding, all weather floor mat, mudguard, etc.). Otherwise we paid MSRP plus a total $425 dealer fees (doc fee, etc.). We live in Evansville IN, right next to the IN Toyota factory… not sure if this played any role (NOT according to our dealer salesman)… but we feel extremely lucky and we really love the new ride!!!
I ended up going through an auto buying service that found me the 2023 RAV4 XSE Hybrid in the color I wanted with everything I wanted on it at MSRP. From first contact to delivery, it took 19 days (could have been a few days sooner but I had a lot going on and had to wait two days until I had enough free time for delivery). I never had to step into the dealership - well worth the $150 fee for them to find my vehicle without all of the stress of dealing with the folks at the dealership.
Can you share the information
Yes! Tell us about this service. Dealerships are painful to deal with.
I will never ever get anything besides Toyota or Lexus, the reliability and quality is still very worth it.
I think you 2 brought up a number of months ago that Toyota may be intentionally limiting production to keep up corporate profit margins.
Smart move, makes a lot of sense.
this is nonsense, Toyota is having a record production year.
"wanting a Sequoia with no dealer markups, God speed to you?", OMG I LOVE IT. That should fall under "really? you gotta be kidding" segment. I'm not even in the car business and I can't stop enjoying your podcasts!
Crazy $5K - $20K over MSRP for a Sequoia, I refused.
I have three Toyotas in the driveway. If they don’t fix their inventory issues and elevated prices I will look at Suburu or Honda next time.
So, new possible models like the Toyota Stout truck is just a dream more than reality.
I’d love to own a late model 4Runner but……..just did a complete brake job myself on my old Accord-I feel like I’m living in Cuba 🇨🇺!!
I mean we order our 4-Runner 19 months ago. It arrived to the dealer last week and we are set to pick it up this week.
Been listening for some time to the boys talk about doom and gloom…. Guess what Ray was a salesman and he still is!! It’s all about joining “car edge”
So many people on the internet have been claiming the dealers are screwed constantly the last year. The fact is there are still 90% of the public that are going to buy regardless. That's why prices for used and new are still grossly elevated.
Walked in to our local Toyota dealership a few weeks ago. They a Crown Limited on the lot drove out with it the same day was only on the lot 3 or 4 days.
My local Toyota dealers have tons of cars for sale but nothing being sold because they're charging way to much over msrp
It took 2 1/2 months to buy a 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid AWD with the Platinum package. It was worth the wait. I’m getting 37.5 mpg in town and 35 mpg on the highway. It is very plush, very quiet (acoustic glass and has a very smooth ride, even with the 20 inch wheels. I did not pay anything over MSRP and only had the towing package installed by the dealer which I wanted anyway. $53,000 price at a dealer in Rapid City, South Dakota.
I was given a 19 month wait for the Rav4 prime. And it had a 3,000$ dealer markup on it. I eventually moved states, and still 21 months later I have not recieved a call that the car has arrived yet. Ray & Zack input appreciated
Cancel your order and buy something else not Toyota.
Cancel the order
The average dealer markup on a Rav4 or Prius Prime is $10k so $3k is rather low despite market adjustments being the suck as it is.
There’s literally primes sitting at multiple dealerships in Colorado without any names on them.
I love Toyotas but their dealerships (at least locally) have become an absolute pain to deal with. They want thousands over msrp plus thousands in useless ad ons for the “privilege” of buying basic transportation.
I scratched Toyota off my list. If I can’t test drive, I do not buy.
Also a 2 year wait time is ridiculous and 100% not worth it. And it’s not because of instant gratification, it’s because if you’re looking for a new car then you obviously need one relatively soon. There’s no reason for this anymore other than Toyota and their dealers playing games to raise prices. If these cars are so scarce then why is a Subaru dealership selling hybrid RAV4’s with 16km and they have 4-5 on the lot consistently for months?
I’m in a grand Highlander Facebook group and nobody has waited two years for one of those. A few months at most. Some as quick as less than a month
@@annak3388 not in Canada and not for a hybrid. 2 years is what people are told.
We own a 17’ Tacoma and a 19’ Highlander and our son drives a 21’ RAV4. All three of us would wait two years for a new one before we would buy anything else. Cannot beat the quality, reliability and very high resale value.
Toyota is becoming a pain in the butt to deal with. Better off buying Subaru or Mazda in my opinion.
Honda
Mazda just not Honda with the 1.5 turbo
Sounds like Toyota has a legitimate supply issue vs the Jeep/gm/Ford who are asking for crazy prices
I’d never compromise for a Subaru. Third worst vehicle I’ve ever own. Expensive to maintain also.
Honda - our service manager told us a month ago to not by any Honda right now bc as a company they are being horrific for repairs and buying.
Mazda - idk.
Toyota - two of the dealers I use - have bought three new Toyotas below msrp since 3/2022, have been AMAZING. The resale, and reliability. Plus Toyota Corp always backs the customer and gets very involved if there is an issue with a dealer.

HAD EXACTLY 0 NEW 23s to test drive,. I will keep my 2012 Sienna XLE, 70k miles, still looks and runs like new, and a v6 at that.
I'm in Canada, and when I shop for the next new Toyota, if I cannot obtain one in Canada, I'll be shopping for a slightly used one in the States! It's a sad business model when there is no inventory from which to choose here in Canada, and yet across the line, there IS inventory!
I have a 2020 Camry Hybrid..bought just before Covid. Couldn’t get another one now so I bought a 23 Kia Niro. No market adjustment and it’s great.
Got our GH Hybrid within 3 months from the first time we set foot in the store looking for them. Oh and we got the exact one we were looking for on an allocation from a dealership swap and we got it for msrp. Yes there are long waits but shopping around will help reduce the wait.
So what's a GH Hybrid? What model is that?
Grand Highlander Hybrid. The Grand Highlanders are a brand new SUV model that they just released. @@ArmageddonIsHere
What do you think the most reliable year on a Toyota Seinna would be to buy??? I enjoy listening to all your videos!
It’s helping Honda and Acura. I wanted to buy a Corolla for my daughter. Couldn’t find one. Bought a Civic after a month wait. Fell in love with that car (never had a Honda) and bought an Integra for my wife replacing her old Mazda 6 (another car we couldn’t find).
Good luck finding anything Honda or Acura without a $10K ADM sticker on it, and they know it.
/agree. I went for a R4Prime and was told it was a 9 month wait. For the heck of it, we placed our name on the waiting list. On month 4, we had to get a replacement car for our old CR-V and winded up getting a new CR-V from Honda instead. Ironically, Toyota did call us back after 9 months and told me my Prime was available and they were willing to sell it us at MSRP. So now we got a new CR-V and Prime sitting in our driveway! Hindsight, if the Prime was available 9 months ago, we most likely would not have purchased the CR-V. oh well.
There is a dealership in my area (Alberta) that is selling a 2024 Corolla SE for $39,000 CAD before taxes, which is about $6,000 markup over MSRP. The level of greed in today's market is absolutely ridiculous.
Worth the wait i waited 18 months for a 2023 camry xse fully loaded at msrp
Just bought a 4-runner, arrived at 10 am, picked one out, drove off at 12 am, no wait! Maybe luck?
Congrats! But sure hope you drove off at 12 pm and not am.
I just purchased a very solid, clean, well-maintained 2002 Toyota Camry (from the previous owner on Facebook Marketplace, replacing my 2002 Camry that was totaled in an accident) for $4000 instead of attempting to buy a new Camry. I get a car I know - immediately - with a 60-month amortized price of $67/month vice having to wait for the car I want at $713/month. Done deal.
Why would Toyota need put more inventory when they see all manufacturers have a 100+ day supply and have to take a major hit off there cars? There actually really smart they see what's going on in the US and they are trickling cars in on purpose so they sell cars instantly and the moment they see supply going up in the states they cut back, better for them to get cars to sell at MSRP or better. If anything we should be on the same page. Toyota is not hurting at all in my opinion.
To make more money. It’s not that people don’t want to buy cars and trucks, they just don’t want to buy those cars and trucks. Toyota has to be careful, they have $221 billion in debt. If they produce too much and their is a sharp economic, they are going to be in trouble. At least their are producing things that people want to buy. The worry is they will produce a lot of hybrid cars and continue to invest in hybrid technology while the rest of the industry is moving to fully electric, and they will be left holding the bag without enough cash to change how they build cars.
Love you guys! I'm looking to finance a 24' Tundra with a commercial loan. Should I get pre-qualified on my own or use dealership for best rate? I'm prepared to personally guarantee for 72 months. What bank for the pre-approval? Thanks
Getting pre qualified is always the best option as for the financial institution well you can shop around I think the credit bureaus know you are shopping around of you have multiple pulls for a car loan or mortgage and they only count one I think not sure the specifics
Retired with no debt. I have owned multiple Toyotas in the past. It would be my go to brand. but, no way I will spend $40K and up, probably way up for a brand new depreciating asset. Now, the dealers think they can hold prospective customers with ransoms up to 10K, plus useless addons? Forget about it. I replaced a very much used 2010 Prius for a used 2018 Mazda 3 grand touring, which has turned out to be a wise choice. It has everything new cars come with except a payment and nitrogen in the tires. In 6 or 7 years I might start thinking about another used Mazda 3.
I'm interested in a new Honda CRV hybrid. Is inventory the same with Honda, will I have to be put on a wait list ?
For the first time in many years, I decided to buy a certified used Toyota 4Runner, instead of paying the ridiculous markups and new car prices. With all the AWESOME guidance and tools Car Edge provided, I got a really great deal trading my 2016 for a certified 2022. The plus was, both vehicles were purchased, serviced, and traded at that same dealership.
Toyota dealers in San Jose, CA are fully stocked. Theres a non-negotatiable 5k+ markup on everything though.
Well I just replaced my wheel skin leather wrap on my 1997Honda Del Sol Si. This is my second one. The last one was going to holes. I am an original owner with 219,000 miles. At 72 I am turning into the little old man and his little old car. But what a car. Five speed manual, double wishbone suspension, front and rear sway bars, front and rear disks breaks. and you can take the top off
and store it in the trunk. So all you guys and girls keep on buying those $100,000 F150 with $1000 a month car loans.🙂
...I just bought an F150 Tremor for 64 and change...Not all trucks are a 100g's ..and yeah I know 64 isnt chickenfeed but hey I paid a over 30 grand for my F150 way back in 1999
I just purchased a 2023 4Runner SR5 Premium sport. I was surprised when the dealer discounted $4k off msrp.
Gents, now that Toyota prices are in Lexus territory why not buy the Lexus equivalent? There are great deals to be had on 2023 GX’s and RX’s especially as we get close to the end of the year. One dealer has over 80 GX’s in stock and they keep lowering the prices.
You know...I think I'm starting to see the light here. Not sure how many of you know that there was a report that came out where the CEO of Toyota was talking about how he is working on having their Toyota vehicles being sold (online) from the manufacturer straight to the consumer, which will obviously take out the middleman (dealerships) and I believe we are seeing these price hikes because the dealerships know exactly what's coming in that regard. These price hikes clearly show that they know something that we don't know, but now we know. I'm in the market for buying a new Toyota Rav4, and each time I make a move in that direction I get this nagging feeling deep down telling me to wait. The last time I got that feeling was right before we sold our house in 2004, my wife and I both were prompted (deep down) to wait to sell on three occasions and we waited. After the wait was over is when the housing market started to boom, and we wound up selling our house for 3 times as much as we were offered all three times. We were glad we waited. If you can wait to buy a new car right now, you should because I get the feeling that something amazing is about to happen that will give us (the consumer) a huge advantage.
Hi, Marcello mentioned that there’s a long waiting period. I live only minutes away from his location and I only had to wait 45 days to get a new Rav4,
Ordered the SUV early September 2023 and we got a call early last week that we could pickup if we wanted a 2024 within the end of the week. We now have a 2024 RAV4 at home the only cost difference was $300.00 only, from getting a 2023 -2024, you mentioned 8% Toyota increase? Also we didn’t get any upgrades at all. Out the door price $46,600.00 for a 2024 RAV4 premium. Tax in/Canadian

The sienna gets almost double the gas mileage of a normal mini van. They also sell 150,000 a year. It's NO surprise there's a waiting list. Although "not known" is ridiculous.
Lmao no, it doesn't.
I just today noticed the nearest Toyota dealer near me has more new 4Runners and Tundras sitting on their lot than I have seen in at least the last two years.
Shocking. Japanese executives plan out their production for the year and only build to the plan.
Buyers are dying before the car they ordered is delivered two years later. I never thought of that angle.
I waited 6 months for corolla cross. Worth every minute, great car. I wouldn't go anywhere else There's demand for quality.
That was my second choice. I ordered a Maverick Hybrid instead, and love it. Toyota lost a loyal Hybrid customer.
I checked it. Terrible quality inside. Especially compared to a rav4. Everything was so cheap :(. Abd almost the same price as a rav4
Just checked a local Denver metro Toyota dealership: 669 new vehicles in inventory. They also are straight MSRP with no add-ons or dealer fees. Still might not have the exact vehicle one is looking for though...
The Toyota Rav4 hybrid { LE & XLE } will save a person almost $700 / year @ $3.50 / gallon if they drive the national average of 15,000 miles { 24,000 } per year, over the non-hybrid Rav4. @ $2.00 / litre and driving 24,000 kms { 15,000 miles } / year, they'll save almost $1,500 / year. The LE and XLE models get 54% better gas mileage than the non- hybrid versions { with all city driving }. With the Trail and Limited models, you'll even save a little more money. So in the US, you'll save $7,000 in 10 years and in Canada, you'll save $15,000 in 10 years. Keep in mind that the battery alone is $4,000 - 5,000 { for a new one, including installation {4-5 hours labor }}. The battery will be old at the 10 year mark, so your gas savings might not be so high near the end of the battery life. If you're planning to keep the vehicle for 15-18 years, then expect to replace the battery and the inverter at some point. $5,000 for a new battery and another couple of grand for the inverter. So in the US, you're only saving $5,000 over 15 years { $300 / year } with a new battery & inverter and that's if nothing really goes wrong with the hybrid system. In Canada, your savings will be about $15,000 at the 15 year mark including having a new batter & inverter. So for Canadians { who pay double the price of gasoline vs. Americans } it makes total sense to buy hybrids. KEEP in mind, in the winter, the hybrid system won't be as efficient { as well as the peak of summer } and these numbers from Toyota are the best possible, real life will be slightly worse of course, maybe 10% or more, I don't know.
Its all about clicks to pay for the channel. The info is relevant and accurate despite the sensationalism. Keep up the good work guys!
I guess the two months I waited for a Tacoma TRD Offroad 4x4 was a short wait.
Like I said, it took me 18 months to get my Tacoma i request allocated but it’s mostly depends on your region. You live in what is allocations in the region just saying
I had all but decided to purchase a RAV4 Hybrid, but upon going to the dealer and being told there's a 8-12 month wait time, I noped out of there and ordered a Honda CR-V Hybrid that should arrive in a couple weeks.
Just ordered a new RAV4 hybrid yesterday. Woodland edition in army green. In and out of the dealer in an hour including a test drive and should have the car in a few weeks.
In your dreams, dealer can’t order a vehicle. Only if Toyota Motor Sales has already allocated that vehicle to them.
I called a Toyota dealer near me. I wanted a 2023 RAV4 hybrid limited and they told me I would have to get a 2024 because they won’t be getting any more 2023 vehicles. She told me it would be the middle of next year before I would get the car
This shows there are major problems at Toyota - how will they be able to match last years sales volume if they can't supply vehicles ?
Simple the year of the car itself
Sales volume doesn't matter, profits do.
I don't need to make $100 each selling 10,000 cars for $10,000 each if I can make $1000 each selling 1000 cars for $100,000 each, and it's a much smaller hassle in terms of logistics, shipping, materials costs, and so on.
@@VideoArchiveGuy yup tat to
What happens to all the factories , workers , suppliers who were producing almost 10 million vehicles a year when you suddenly only produce 7 million a year ? Toyota owns those factories. Where do the buying customers go who need a medium priced car today ? - Hyunda - Kia - Mazda - Nissan will take the low end market and sell millions.
@@nrich5127 thats what the video is about lol
I can live with 9-12 months to order a car but two years? That's insane.
Depends on your situation I guess. If somebody totaled my car I don’t have a choice
I ordered a Toyota in March of 22 and got it in July 22' but that seems reasonable compared to some horror stories. Question for Everyone,
Before 2020 what was the standard wait time when you ordered a Vehicle that a dealer had to order from MFG ?
You can’t order a Toyota. Dealership lied to you. Only get allocation from Toyota Motor Sales with no dealership input
So if I wait for 2 years do you get a current model or does the factory actually build a two year old car?
You will get whatever a 2026 model has and will have to pay whatever price a 2026 costs if you want one.
@@VideoArchiveGuy thanks. Guess that would explain all the special order cars sitting on lots.
Ray will appreciate this. President Reagan relayed this joke in Russia at that time:
A guy in a Soviet country is told he has a 10 year wait for a car.
This man laid down the money, and the fellow in charge said to him: Come back in 10 years and get your car.
The man answered: Morning or afternoon?
And the fellow behind the counter said: Ten years from now, what difference does it make?
And he said: Well, the plumber is coming in the morning.
No problem buying my Toyota or Lexus recently in central FL. Haven't heard of any issues in my area actually.
I was told at the dealership that the waiting time is 24 months , BUT I got my Tundra in 6 months , I was also offered a different color a lot sooner .
Then you are working with a shit dealership, toyota dealer near me has more tundras than anything in literally any configuration you could ask for
@@dug4895 Checked multiple dealers , Zero Tundra Hybrid in Stock , I still check dealers lots No Hybrids and the most they have is about 3 or Tundras available for sale .
Honestly this situation has been aggravated by the dealers in North America. By placing allocation orders through "unverified" customers they have created created this exact situation. I don't feel bad for the dealers but do take pity on the company. If only the US could get rid of that ridiculous "dealership" law and allow citizens to buy directly from manufacture, then maybe we could see a positive change.
I remember back in the mid '70s when you could actually get a good deal from dealers when they had a sale, especially their year end closeout sale. That was possible because they had so many cars available. They would put up balloons and banners and have bar-b-ques, and they sold a lot of cars. Back then people could actually afford to buy a new car every couple of years. Now you need to keep a vehicle at least 20 years to justify the price, and most manufacturers will not support their vehicles past 10 years. And most of them fall apart before they are paid for.
I wish theres more brand that make AWD mini vans. I love the KIA Carnival look and price but couldn’t go for it since they don’t offer AWD. Put in deposit for a Sienna but couldn’t wait. So I settled in with a Palisade 😊
Just took delivery of my solar octane 4Runner TRD Pro…..16 months after my deposit 😂 only one in that color the dealer got and they aren’t some low volume dealership. Didn’t bother me, wasn’t in a rush, but overheard people desperate to even get a Corolla Cross to replace their suddenly dead old car with no inventory available for them. Crazy…..
I wish the state where I live was more motorcycle friendly.. That would help with the wear and tear on my car..
Is this the reason Southeast Toyota Distributor add their distributor markup as well as a dealership markup?
So if I wanted a 2024 Runner, I have to wait till 2026 to get it? do I understand that correctly?
Hey guys, is it worth it to pay $800 for lifetime paint chip protection and tinted windows from the dealership? I wanted to tint the windows anyway
I’m loyal to what’s best for my wallet, Toyota resale remains the highest so I’d gladly wait or find a used one with like 500 miles on it.
might as well drive a microwave.
@@rjrickenbach4346who doesn't like microwaves? Fantastic inventions!
We'll come back to your post in 2 yrs when you get your car delivered
@@NaNslx from what I’ve seen it’s fairly easy to walk on a lot in most metro areas of the PNW and buy a new Tacoma. Not sure about the other models.
It's frustrating how slow the availability of Toyota cars, even the gasoline ones, is here in Canada. Toyota keeps changing the delivery dates, and it's disheartening. Subaru has a 6-month waiting list, and Honda has significantly raised its prices, but they are some of the few reliable brands with vehicles ready to go. I've had my share of issues with Korean car engines, which has made me hesitant about certain brands. I'd love to understand why production is moving so slowly.
Actually it's not obvious because there is a huge pent-up demand for vehicles now due to the huge vehicle shortage during the pandemic. Toyota could triple their vehicle production and still sell them all easily. Toyota chooses not to. Why? Toyota is saving tens of millions of dollars by not having to pay new car cash rebates, sales incentives, advertising costs etc.
In short, Toyota has adopted the model used by luxury automakers. Make less vehicles but make more profit per vehicle sold.
Buy something else.
this is nonsense, Toyota is having a record production year.
Handing our 2012 Camry down to our kid. The whole process of trying to buy a Toyota hybrid (Venza/RAV4) has been cumbersome. Your choices are what’s in the dealer’s allotment. Slim pickings. After 15 months, we ordered a CRV Hybrid because we need an additional vehicle. If Subarus offered more hybrids than we would’ve considered them.
What will the Tacoma launch look like? Two year wait?
I just purchased a subaru outback wilderness edition after trying to buy a toyota. The dealers are adding adjustments
How much would you pay for a 2020 camry se with 60k miles on it?
I looked for a Camry for 2 years...even considered used. So I bought a Kia. I had built my Camry on line just for fun. I got a text a couple of weeks ago saying they had some new Camry's. I went to the dealership and they had 2 new and 2 used. But lo and , they "behold" had the exact car I pretended to buy on line. So, I bought it. I would have liked a Mazda or others but they are 75 or so miles away.
Ordered a Sienna in April 2022
Picking it up in Oct 2023
18 month wait
I know a toyota salesmqn who has had customers waiting for months , then when car comes in if customer can't get to dealership in 24 hrs then sell it to next person in line . Then original customer goes back to square one wainting. plus I have been looking around for my next car and been to toyota dealership and couple others and they are VERY high pressure !
this is nonsense, Toyota is having a record production year.
I have had Toyotas for 35 years, but there is no way I will wait 2 years for a new one. I probably will get a Subaru.
I love my Subaru Outback r6. 2011 275000 miles runs like a top!
Actually, Toyota, as far as the company is concerned, doesn't really have a problem. Customers do. "Market share" is a meaningless term - who really cares? The only thing that really matters to the company, its employees and shareholders is profit. That's their raison d'être. This is not unique to Toyota; all healthy for-profit companies think that way, regardless of industry. Maybe there is a somewhat elusive "cost of lost opportunity" but this does not constitute a loss for Toyota. I agree that this situation sux for loyal Toyota customers like me (if I were in the market for a new car, which I'm not), but it does not mean that "Toyota is f#@%ed." If I were in the car-manufacturing business, I would certainly prefer over-demand to over-supply that nobody wants to buy. I think that Toyota may actually be following a wise strategy because this way they don't end up with over-capacities, plant closures and layoffs in a couple years when the current frenzy ends.
What is the wait time for a Cybertruck?
I just bought a grandhighlander xle awd gas model no markups. The salesman is my neighbor he even gave me 500$ off i didnt have to pay for all the paperwork !!
Really want a Tacoma in 2025 but if things stay the way they are now that Colorado is looking more and more appealing
Toyota deserves the loyalty that they extend to their customers. No more, no less.
I'm a die hard Toyota person, but I can't deal with the wait, or the mark ups the dealers are putting on the cars. The last Toyota I bought was a 2021 4Runner, purchased November 2020. I wanted something smaller with better mileage than the 4Runner for daily use, so I ended up ordering a Subaru Crosstrek, which should be in some in November. No mark up on the Subaru.
Just bought a rav4 no insane markups outside of taxes. I love it and hopefully I'm set for next 15+ years
lmao what? 3 yrs max
Only 15? I got 25 out of my last Ford.
