Moreover, I think that the reason as to why they gave him no mouth is also because when you look at your own shdow directly, you can't see by it if your mouth or eyes are close or open. You can only hear yourself, but you won't be able to see your mouth open just by looking at your shadow.

Sonic 06 was a terrible excuse for a sonic game but mephiles was a wonderful villain. Creepy, beyond evil, powerful, made of darkness, successfully kills the protagonist, disturbing dialogue and theme song, bizarre behavior, all the things that a villain should be.

Completely agreed, They tried to do something similar with Infinite but he doesn't even come close. Mephiles is and will always be the best Villain in the franchise! The biggest crime he ever comited was the fact that we never saw him again.
I think eggman is a little bit better because he's more iconic. He's kind of one dimensional though and only has two goals, to kill sonic and conquer the world. The only thing we really know about his past is he was inspired by his grandfather to become a scientist. It's also kind of interesting that he's schemes are strictly driven by his ego and he's not some sadistic villain doing evil for the sake of it. He's just constantly trying to prove himself.

He has time travelling powers, he can kill Sonic but he did what he did because thats how messed up he is. He craves destruction, pain and misery he only did everything just to mess with people he didnt want shadow to join him. Mephilis just wanted to break his spirit.

My headcannon is mephiles Knew the 3 hedgehogs with the chaos emeralds might eventually team up through time and space to stop him. they already showed they can time travel without Mephiles' help by using chaos control. the 3 of them are the only one's who could put him down and we wants to torture them for the crime of being able to do that. Its not enough to kill them efficiently, he needs them to suffer first. thats why he spends all his time trying to break shadow and set up silver to murder someone.
Though Mephiles is extremely evil, he does seem to genuinely care about Iblis. In the brotherly way, which makes sense considering their origin. 12:18 showcases this pretty well.

Mephiles isn't typical Sonic villain who desired revenge or world domination.He craved destruction.The best thing about this villain aside from being voiced by Dan Green,but main reason why Mephiles is remembered is coz of three main reasons: 1) His creepy and disturbing factor in design and in master manipulation 2) He is most darkest and most twisted of Sonic villains,making Infinite or even Black Doom look like a poor jokes 3) Aside from his plain scary theme and nearly winning,he is only and only VILLAIN who actually KILLED the blue blur right near the end of the game.This puts even Eggman and mainly Infinite to shame as they both lacked such great villain development.Eggman is hegmonic madman thirsting for world domination,Infinite is a disappointment and "Im not Weak" villain which I find quite disappointing.Mephiles? Doom Cap I think the only way to bring Mephiles is making more canon stories related to Sonic 06, because Sonic 06 is basically a planned remake of the Sonic series with better personalities, better story, better villains and better characters. But due to a bunch of failures SEGA an the Sonic Team has done like slow loading screens, animations, level designs and bugs that are *N O T* supposed to be there, especially script errors like... Subtitles: “Have you retrieved the Sceptre of Darkness?” Actual voice: “Have you retrieved the “Book” of Darkness?” But I must say, people still talk about Sonic 06, it may be a bad game but it’s slowly becoming popular when people understand Sonic 06 as much as I do. The original Sonic series for example... well... it’s actually kind of a joke (but not the Time Eater) because, it doesn’t always end as cliffhangers or continuations like how Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces does, it just kind of feels like a bit “too” childish, especially with one of the W O R S T game of all time, such as Sonic Lost World. Rewatching this I gotta wonder if Mephilis realized this isn't the shadow he met, least not yet which is why he sent them through time instead of killing them
06 may have been horrid gameplay-wise, but it really did try to make a compelling story, and this feels like the last time in the series that most of the characters felt like themselves (Tails isn't useless, Shadow isn't flanderized into just being edgy), and it especially brought in some great characters, like Silver and Mephiles, unfortunately it got erased

I love the design of Mephiles. Sure it looks just like a straight copy of shadow but detailed changes (when he didn’t have his crystallization appearance), but it’s the way that they make him look more like a puppet then a living being. His green eyes never reflect the light. Him just taunting the heroes and playing with them. I really wish they brought Mephiles back for more games and maybe even an open world game with every sonic character, not just heroes.

Mephiles isn't typical Sonic villain who desired revenge or world domination.He craved destruction.The best thing about this villain aside from being voiced by Dan Green,but main reason why Mephiles is remembered is coz of three main reasons:
1) His creepy and disturbing factor in design and in master manipulation
2) He is most darkest and most twisted of Sonic villains,making Infinite or even Black Doom look like a poor jokes
3) Aside from his plain scary theme and nearly winning,he is only and only VILLAIN who actually KILLED the blue blur right near the end of the game.This puts even Eggman and mainly Infinite to shame as they both lacked such great villain development.Eggman is hegmonic madman thirsting for world domination,Infinite is a disappointment and "Im not Weak" villain which I find quite disappointing.Mephiles? This guy is good developed and very well voiced by Dan Green,but it puts me into corner of sadness not seeing this childhood villain coming back.Shame that Sega never inteneds to bring this very dark and twisted master manipulator in future Sonic games.
I have respects for Eggman and Metal,even Infinite a bit,but Mephiles is the character that conquered the hearts of many Sonic fans and is well underrated villain.

Doom Cap I think the only way to bring Mephiles is making more canon stories related to Sonic 06, because Sonic 06 is basically a planned remake of the Sonic series with better personalities, better story, better villains and better characters. But due to a bunch of failures SEGA an the Sonic Team has done like slow loading screens, animations, level designs and bugs that are *N O T* supposed to be there, especially script errors like...

But I must say, people still talk about Sonic 06, it may be a bad game but it’s slowly becoming popular when people understand Sonic 06 as much as I do.
The original Sonic series for example... well... it’s actually kind of a joke (but not the Time Eater) because, it doesn’t always end as cliffhangers or continuations like how Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces does, it just kind of feels like a bit “too” childish, especially with one of the W O R S T game of all time, such as Sonic Lost World. I mean sure, there are other games that aren’t as childish as the rest like Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Adventure 1-2, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Forces, but those type of games are not as good as Sonic Unleashed since it has an interesting story but it can sometimes get a little bit childish, but not too much.
If only infinite was the final boss. He could've easily shoved eggbotnik aside and become the main villain.

I love the design of Mephiles. Sure it looks just like a straight copy of shadow but detailed changes (when he didn’t have his crystallization appearance), but it’s the way that they make him look more like a puppet then a living being. His green eyes never reflect the light. Him just taunting the heroes and playing with them. I really wish they brought Mephiles back for more games and maybe even an open world game with every sonic character, not just heroes.
