- An actor gets a taste of fame.
PLACES, THANK YOU PLACES is used with permission from J.J. Adler. Learn more at jjadler.com.
An overconfident understudy lets a taste of fame go right to his head in this smart, sophisticated comedy about the highs and lows of show business.
PLACES, THANK YOU PLACES packs many advantages into its 21-minute runtime. A fantastic lead performance by Gary Richardson -- who is also a writer on SNL -- anchors the film, as he ironically demonstrates a rare charisma in a role about a man desperate for it.
There's also great showbiz send-ups, including a fake musical, as well as fantastic camerawork that is both polished and agile, keeping viewers apace with a well-timed story and jokes.
But what really works is the character-based storytelling, charting the arc of a man whose hubris proves to be his downfall. It's a tale as old as Greek theater, given fresh new life in this nimble production.
"We good?"... "Nah... but we on the same page." What an awesome line
Collin Youn Lee she was bout it bout it
She was the real star of this joint
I felt like they had a few old school black actors in this, and some good squaring-up scenes with them that showed he had the talent, but not the right attitude.
Their back & forth insults had me laughing lol , i'm surprised she didn't slap him .
"I'M BLACK FOREVER!" One of the greatest lines in human history.
Your "gift" may open doors for you....but it's your "character" that keeps them open or shuts them closed. Humility & Thankfulness is goal #1....Attitude determines Altitude !!
Great comment
I'm witcha when you right and dang it you right!!👍🏽💯
Just like aladin
True. What I don't get is why people insist on using quotation marks for emphasis.
Unless you are ruthless and without mercy.
I love this short. I've watched it a couple times now. Miles' swift transition into an arrogant diva is amazing, as well as the even-swifter return to reality.
Indeed it was a swift transition to arrogance, and I notice that it happened especially during his time inside the yellow cab.
"Back to reality. Oops there goes Gravity", sings the incomparable SLIM SHADEY.
The only "justified" action was his talking back to his restaurant boss. I figured that he or the other staff got the order wrong, but I couldn't understand why everybody was so upset. They didn't even give him a chance to correct things. Maybe the order just needed to go to the next table or something simple.
Maybe I missed something in the restaurant scene.
Aww, his agent still showed up for him after all that.
A typical case of counting your chickens before they hatch.
Moral of the story : don't be cocky and have high expectations, just try to be humble and focus on yourself.
At the beginning he seemed like the type of guy who would be humble, but people around him pushed him around . Even his girlfriend was mean to him, so it seemed he couldn't please anyone. But yeah being cocky isn't the answer .
Focusing on himself is what got him into trouble.
@@margo3367 o yea sorry
Why does the director talk like that 😭😂
Right!! So annoying
I think it’s supposed to be a parody of Lin Manuel Miranda, with his parodic overdone speech and emphasis on his ethnicity to say the least
@@elisabethschmerzler963 That's exactly what I was thinkin.. Lmao.. A parody of LMM..
I.Know.Right.Super.Weird.
Terrible acting on his part.
*Lower your pride on certain situations*
That's the lesson of the story.
Very well done. I laughed so much at the scene between the main character and older lady. Simply hilarious.
The banter was so real
He was tested with a blessing and showed that he wasn't ready for it by twisting his blessing into arrogance and rudeness so the blessing left him
- When you are blessed, share the blessing and bless others
be humble but dont let anyone bring you down
This channel is so underrated
NERD Incorporated I'm talking about the views
Its just the content seems to be too professional the channel grown so fast
@@unknownartist4486 they dont make the films at all
Mia has a valek nose it's a little scary I won't lie
Why in every comment section is there some guy saying "this is underrated" it's not underrated cos we're all watching it
I love how his behavior slowly becomes less and less defensible.
I feel kinda bad for him. Especially when they call him out for crying D:
Actually the agent came to the show and was just an assistant agent for the real agent.
Not allowing man to cry is one of the stupidest ideas of our current culture. Like, there is 1 emotion some people aren't allowed to express? Dafuq?
Lmao why do I ever read these comments before I finish the movie
Pastel Polestar dont feel bad after all He is the main star of this little movie we just watched
Everyone just craps on him. He's the real world version of Meg
I'd like to see more featuring these characters - this could be a legit show on Netflix :)
Problem now with Netflix... Who wants to risk 90 minutes and be bored ? These are better.
Was thinking the same thing!! This could totally be a series about a struggling actor....etc
“Fame” simply magnified who you truly are. Miles was a jerk either way.

There’s no way the lady in charge of holding comps at the door was EVER going to let his girlfriend in, yet there she was!
You might be surprised
could the guy playing Carlos have tried acting like a human?
Worst actor for sure haha. Best actor the old lady who wouldn't give out tickets
@@dukenecromancer245 ha ha she was convincing huh
BECAUSE THAT'S HIS ROLE!!!! THAT'S THE CHARACTER HE SHOULD PLAY AS.
He's supposed to act like that. He is acting like a guy who is trying to act. He doesn't say "holla back" in the real life of the character, but the character acts like he does. It's a Latino who did a play called black forever. His way is supposed to be kind of a joke.
I think all the dialogue could use work
That older brotha in the dressing room is actually a professional designer in Harlem
This is easily one of my favorite Omeleto films ever. His hubris and downfall was telegraphed but the payoff was SO nice. I hope the people behind this are doing big things.
Lesson learned: never play cocky before you can justify yourself unless you wna humiliate yourself from a wholly different level.
Never play cocky at all, even if you can justify yourself.
20:31 “I DON’T EVEN KNOW YOUR DAMN NAME.”
That’s cold.
😢😢😢
But it's lucky. If he doesn't know his name, he can't make sure he never gets another acting job again!
He didnt have money to buy the light but could take a taxi LOL
“I left my wallet at the theatre”
Miles getting on stage was actually pretty good.
It showed the character fighting with himself over the conflict
That way he talked to his Agent in the cab I imagine Kanye talking to his agent
the acting in this short was.. definitely not up to par with the rest of the uploads typically on this channel. But that scene where the main and the "old lady" were arguing. That was pristine.
It was awesome
yeah, it was funny, but the rest ... yeesh. no offence :P
I think the best actor was ironically his commercial agents assistant lol
I think that it was done on purpose, the overacting of everyone.
Anywayn you're damn right about that scene with the lady, the dialogue was on top !
It’s theatre styled acting... it’s not supposed to be natural
He turned into a monster right before my eyes.
The manager of this nice restaurant says to his customers: "That was fu-ked up." What planet are these writers living on?
That struck me as quite bad too.
I really thought it was interesting that the people who he interacted with were very supportive and reassuring, but when the main character became hostile towards them, they completely flamed him.
Interesting. Like he called the replacement actor the N-word, and the replacement actor completely roasted him. Goes to show that optimism and "being a good sport" is a good way to make friends and move on. And how acting hostile can burn bridges for you.
I understand him bringing the worst out of people , but the theatre guy already had some anger issues , and his girlfriend came across mean .
No matter how you look at it theres just no way to feel sorry for him.
he needs firgiveness
@@wombats2024 Humility first.
He is just this type of person who was starving for a long time for good treatment. Like it shows u how everyone was roasting him for crying even that girl so all that starvation turns to narcassism
@@-nadine-3509 Interesting. :-)
Nope. His arrogance led to his downfall. Hadn't even performed yet and suddenly he thinks his bigger than will Smith.
I must've watched the scene with him and the older woman going back and forth like 10 times. That was masterful!
More than just the rise and fall of the ego, this is a lovely modern fable. Lots of great dialogue too.
As soon as he started copping that attitude, I knew it had to go wrong. Because this ain't real life.
I LOST IT at "do NOT TELL ME I CANT RAP" 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
He had a no win situation but his attitude didn't help.
Listen , Aunty by the theater door was ready to scrap hahah !
This Homie had everything right. His only problem was he didn't meditate!
Lol
Does that work ?
Ha!
Meditate to stay cool in success and failure.
LOL when he ripped off that guy's afro! 🤣😂😂🤣
My hope is that he learned his lesson from his behavior and became a great actor with humility.
"Alright, so we good?" "uh, nah, but we on the same page"
LMao
Mans switched up quick. Stay humble in defeat and in victory my friends.
Sounds more like he just got a distant smell of fame before he became arrogant fool.
I cant stop watching these help me
Me tooooooo!!! 😢
thirding.
Easily my favorite Omeleto vid. I have watched it numerous time. Surprisingly it doesn't have as many views as suspected.
can you give me a few reasons of why it was the best for ya?
It's my favorite too.
Things are going smoothly for him and I was "this can't be real". Well shit's ain't real.
That whole scene at 13:00 was just too funny LOL xDDD
The only good actor in this was the black lady who gave him hell. She did a really good job. Everyone else, well, nice try.
I thought it was deliberately slightly off, gave it a slight surreal feel and made him seem OK at first until his flaws came up.
incorrect
james, you're wrong. the guy playing the main character had the objective of bravado and kitsch. he attained this with HONORS. the dude is excellent. dafspeed is correct, and surreal is exactly what this was supposed to communicate, through what looks like subpar acting. even the guy playing carlos had the kitsch bravado, it wasn't about perfect acting it was alice in wonderland where timing is off personalites are skewed acting is not polished, even when not on stage. that is the genius of this particular film.
What happens
when you lose humility
and believe in
your own importance
and fame. 🎭
I truly enjoyed this
'Thespian' themed film. 🎥
Is it just me, or does his boss kinda look like Joaquin Pheonix?
In HER
"We good? Nah, but we're on the same page" BEST LINE EVER!!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Did anyone else peep that a mexican dude was telling the story of black people?
Lol..not until you mentioned it. We was all out here focused on bro!
Mauriel, yes that was part of the joke, every character in this story was an over-the-top stereotype.
Are you trying to gatekeep stories?
I dont get it
Lots of minorities are oppressed!
DO NOT TELL ME I CAN'T RAP!
well Omeleto your mission to provoke inspire engage and connect humankind is totally worth it! keep up the good job! wow another good video. nice one Omeleto!

Lol awww
I love love love the cinematography in this. The editing is also superb. Really great concept, pacing and story structure. Great job everyone.

It is actually, “Pride cometh before a fall.”

Is that Jaboukie-young white
Im sorry what?
i usually feel so empty and alone after watching omeleto's videos due to the amount of emotion it is able to resonate.
I would have rather work on that restaurant cuz that manager is pretty chill
The ending was hilarious
18:08 lol wtf are they doing in this play
When he said 'Whoa"and immediately puked, I died laughing!
i was on his side until the agent phone call. smh.
Don’t jump the gun and don’t tell anyone anything until you sign the papers. I’ve learned the hard way.
Its great video.
I just missed the "Comedy" part.
Same. Just sad..
Yeah. Tried 3 omeleto videos and 3 no's so far.
@@gregorylagrange that sucks. Try same channel another genre. I like a bunch of their horror :)
@@NotAnotherAUDHDCrafter I'm not going to rate the whole channel just on 3 videos. Two comedies, one drama. I'll try some others. But I have noted some common things in the ones I have watched.
They are really good at Drama
He looks like Childish Gambino/Joel Embiid
No he does not. SMH
Bacon /dev hynes
Very good movie and very good message.
It tells us all to be humble every time..
I had seen once a guy who wants to be a actor..
And when he didnt get acting job he will hunt for job..
I was about to give him a job some where and then this guy suddenly he comes he got acting job and left.
Then that acting work didnt happen.
Again when i contact him he is very proudy..I belive again he is thinking he is getting some job of a hero.
and later he comes back begging..People know your reactions ..so when you going through good time be humble 100 more times.
This video will be very useful for singers ,actors or any other professionals who are too immersed in their goal and forget being good
phenomenal. why are these films so ridiculously good?!? i can't TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!
Wow...miles started acting brand new really quickly😂😂😂
😂😂Myles really lived up to the film description😂😂
When he got so excited he threw up...i relate 😭
Love Carlos playing Lin Manuel Miranda. "You can't rap!" Hahahaha

When you see the director (Chester) in “The Bear” and recognize him instantly.
I really liked this, especially the play within a play that actually made sense.
Wow this guy did this part of acting like an ego maniac to hide all that deep insecurity so well. I really hated those customers at the beginning...so 2 faced and the manager so undermining but then when he started a tingling sucha douche bag to the commercial assistant guy...just wow!
The Lin Manuel Miranda GUY IM CRYING
I thought this channel was about comedy cuz the first video I watched was the voice actor trying to get shocked by a lion
Unknown Artist same here!
Same!!!!
It's just all short films
As standard 😮
That was a funny one
He plays so well, he PLAYS SO WELL!!!!! I love how genuine, funny and spontaneous he is. He has his own world, he created. all the mimics he has, he really also created such an authentic character. for sure he cries a lot !! he looks soo sensitive, he is funny and very loveable (at first), he is just lost in his dreams and that is really beautiful to watch. That is soo sad people who share those traits can also lose themselves like that. Bravo bravo c'est magnifique !!
I felt sorry for him from start to finish. The argument he had with the woman outside was hilarious. I really enjoyed this.
Nobody gonna talk about how jaboukie or whatever his name is was in this show???
Every time I walk by that lamp store, I think "This would be an awesome location to shoot!" So I had a good laugh seeing that. Interesting film too! Feels like my own struggle to get just a couple views. 😅
13:03 😩😩😩😂😂😂 somebody’s aunty
My take... You get out of the universe what you put into it. In the end, we all get what we deserve.
This (fictional) play was terrible.... but the main actor is BRILLIANTLY comedic! I absolutely LOVED this!!
The customers... The most was done.
burned all his bridges
I love that the Director is a satire of Lin Manuel Miranda
funniest part fr
When he was walking backwards...i thought now...he will break a lamp
Yes, it was a deliberate stylized action that didn't end quite right.
crosses off quit "dumbass" job, then we come back to his goals list and lead actor in play is crossed off already, then crosses off quit "dumbass" job again.
