- Robert Shields and his wife, Yarnell, are the ones botting. One thing insane about this guy and his wife is that they are able not to blink for hell of a long time. Enjoy the show!

I grew up watching these amazing performers in the 1970's. They still inspire me today.
And now there’s a dance called The Robot! Plus the break dancing! I used to LOVE watching Shields and Yarnell on various shows like Ed Sullivan and Carol Burnett. Maybe Andy Williams? All the old variety shows.
I had the pleasure of meeting the duo at the time. I was in Coconut Grove in Miami and they were playing there at the Coconut Grove Playhouse. I Robert Shields when he was selling some of his jewellery and I gave his a huge hug and thanked him for being part of my childhood. Then when I went outside, waiting for my parents to come and get me, I met Lorene Yarnell and she was ever so nice, just like Robert. We stood and talked for a bit and she gave me a massive hug when I told her that she and Robert were a massive part of my childhood and to this day, they will always be the best. I miss Lorene very much as well as Robert and I hope that he is well.
4:07 God damn this man and his partner were so underrated. He's amazing!
Awesome! I idolized Shields and Yarnell as a kid. Big influence on me as a pop lock/breakdancer.Thanks for posting!
I remember seeing this growing up. This needs to be on DVD.
Long before I got into street dancing, I had seen these two in San Francisco at Union Square. Was always blown away by how incredible they were(are). Love this stuff!!
I grew up wathcing them on TV. They were awesome!
I ran into him yesterday in Tucson at the Street Fair. He does beautiful metal work now. Very talented guy,
Wow, was this nearly 30 years ago!? Talk about ahead of their time. I believe a thread of their performance completed the tapistry of break dancing! This is as timeless as Numan, Kraftwerk, and Blue Man. Or perhaps, I am easily entertained. Regardless--I bet practice for each "skit" was 100 hours start to finish. I love you guys and thanks for the dedication.
Truly amazing. I would love to be even as half as good as they are.
Their influence on hip hop dance and pop locking is tremendous! Not to mention Michael Jackson and the 1980s pop culture. I was born in 87 so I never really knew much about them until recently.
We are doing a documentary on Robert -"They Shoot Mimes, Don't They?" out in early 2014 (Madd Chadd is in it talking about Robert's influence on his own talent). He is still as amazing as he was in the '70s, with energy like a tidal wave and a story to match.
They had it right, buddy. We ARE machines. And their talent is undeniable.
gosh i remember them ..when i was a young boy i always had a crush on Shields
amazing.
I miss this show.
These Two were the Best Robots EVER!!!
God, yeah, me too! He was really hot in an episode of Wonder Woman, too, where Yarnell played either his sister or ex-wife, as an environmental terrorist using ants as her weapon of choice. I guess I don't remember the plot details 'cause I was more focused on him.
Does anyone else think Robert Shields' Mr Clinker persona looks like the artist formally known as Prince?
***** Well yes, that would be one example.
dang!! i remember this show when i was a kid. they do NOT make awesome shows like these anymore!!
I thought these two were the greatest!!
No... they are actually pretty amusing. If it's a talent that u hav that nobody does... why not exploit it? They hav a talent far beyond that of others in this world, and they are darn good at it.
Robert Shields is definately a person (that I can say) that is WAY ahead of his time as far as how he impersonated the robot. Looking at 03:30 , it is so freaky that he impersonated a robot being a person and a person being a robot. That's Shields for you, right there!
Happy Birthday Robert!
Simply the Best and The Original Robot/Mime Husband and Wife duo!-sAy WoRd!
holy shit!! some popping shit going on in here! awesome!
have you tried to do the robot recently "unclealand"... its quite fun if you know how, and everybody watches when you it aswell
ya he truly is
have you ever tried to explain this show to someone who was not around in the 70s?
Omfg their botting is sooo good like on 0:44 when the woman turns her head, looks soo creepy but at the same time dope botting!!
theses two are the truth
robert shields lives like 2 hours away from me i saw hmm this thursday
Get it on!
Shields and Yarnell were one of the very first to do this. Wonder what happened to them?
Lorene Yarnell passed away a few years ago in 2010. Robert Shields is still touring and doing creative stuff.
Sad to hear. But nice to know he is still around. Thanks for the update.
For your information about where Yarnell is buried, her final resting place is at Sandar Church Cemetery in Sandefjord, Norway under her married surname, Jansson. Dag T. Hoelseth who resides in Oslo told me about this information. He has a picture of her headstone if you view his website blog.
Thank you for sharing the information. Shields and Yarnell borough a lot of joy to people.
+A Beverly aww she died?
Ha i met Robert las night. He likes to brag alot! I live in Sedona, and so does he, apparently, who knew?
Nice!! Robot spawn!!!
FYI Robert shields taught Michael Jackson personally how to move.
They're sooooooo cute. You must have a very strong stomach (and are easily impressed)>
I do have a stong stomach, been known to eat the odd bike chain. Who impresses you, I'm curious to know.
Michael Jackson was hypnotized by Robert Shields robot ability and borrowed not only his movements but Robert Shields' military jackets and face makeup as well.
eah even says micheal jackson and the jackson 5 got influenced by these two right here
a tremendous loss for the robot walkers community
Yo AZmermaid , i envy you . Where did you see them recently? And as for haters coming here to say negative things ... ignore them because they just want attention . Probably needs a group hug. Robert Sheilds is notheing short of Amazing and perfected his craft . How can anyone hate on him except an idiot?
I remember they made jokes about a "mime show" on I Love the 70s. If this was on the air, I'd watch it religiously. These people are incredibly talented. Shame about the incessant audience laughter though, it adds nothing.
i wanna see them do the nasty and watch her blow a circuit. lol
Michael Jackson studied and borrowed heavily from this pair, James Brown, Fred Astaire, Elvis when he was forming his persona back in the 70's...
The robot is soooo 1982. And Shields and Yarnell are embarrassing and maudlin.
What a tiresome, tedious act.
