We have to drive with playlists. Otherwise we will trigger while driving. It’s also very easy for us to dissociate if driving long distances. Also, do not drive with people who easily trigger you.
I appreciate you making this video it helped me feel less alone. I recently started learning to drive too and can relate to some of your experiences so thank you for the video and keep up the great content.
It’s helpful to have a friend or two as an emergency contact in case of dissociating while driving. I had this happen a lot a year ago, and sometimes it still happens. Super helpful to pull over and phone your contact for help. Not a lot of people know I have DID, but a couple close friends. Leaning on that support system when needed is really helpful.
Our body is 44 we use to drive but our alters has issues with it plus the switching and so we don’t drive anymore but the wife of the host does and public transportation is very good in our city .
I have been told that did systems are allowed to drive here in the us we just gotta tell the DMV. So funny story I actually blacked out on the high way and almost got into a car accident. The funny part was everyone in the car thought I fell asleep.
we love your laugh omg /pos!! and we're so scared to drive because of did/osdd too but our father wants us to get our drivers permit and well, he doesnt know that we're multiple. also about the not having black outs when switching, its the same for me and it often gets me into self doubt, because one diacnostic criteria is amnesia so yeah. it would be super cool if you could maybe make video about your experiences on that thing
Yea we black out as well sometimes it depends on the triggers. It still feels kinda embarrassing when someone ask you why don’t you drive especially an employer for a job.
Hey. Someone with a dissociative disorder here!! Driving can be rlly rlly dangerous with a dissociative disorder !! I’m not allowed to drive legally in the U.K. (I’m not sure how it is in the US) but be careful!

I sometimes thing autistic thinking makes more sense. So much of what people do is based on those things being “normal” rather than actually worth it, smart, or good.
I say keep trying. Give lots of time to chill before and after appointments. We r just starting to drive again after 4 years. I haven’t tried driving with someone else and usually don’t turn the radio on yet.we get lost even with an app. If reality helps with the exhaustion to be able to not navigate with bus or Uber.
Aliya system here, driveing is indeed challenging
