How autism makes it WAY easier to form DID
Hello, my name is L and I am the host alter of a DID system called the Mage system. This is how having autism makes it far easier to form dissociative identity disorder. I looked into as many studies and research papers that I could find on this topic, but there isn’t a lot available in ASD and neurodivergence and DID. I tried by best with this one. I hope it was satisfactory! I can never be perfect but I’m of course very open into input. I’m just a neurodivergent psychology nerd who has DID. If you want to see other content like stories, discussions, or if you want to meet the alters in the system, we have plenty of other videos to check out. Such as our recent alter q&a series.

    DiD is fake, it is autism and a form of self obsession, plus mimicing, as autistic people use outside examples to form personalities. I just become whoever im around and get stuck like that till i go home. Then im just depressed. I defo have a personality disorder but its not DiD, your autistic brain just latched onto that as if you never heard of the term before you wouldnt be saying you have it. Its autism. I said i had DiD too because i thought i related to others that said they had it. Its just autism playing with your mind.

    If you want to switch, could someone set up a routine to trigger it? Sometimes I feel trapped in a part and I want to switch but I can't figure out how. If I could leave myself bread crumbs, from every part, back to center. I wouldn’t get stuck. Wouldn't a routine work better? I want to cut loose, I want E so if I paint my toe nails, e is triggered. How does that process work for Your system?

    Well, pause: intersex bodies HAVE been mutilated in the past. Some intersex people go on to identify as trans, so yeah. That IS an issue. But otherwise, you're right. Most 5 year olds are not allowed to get gender changes.

    We're an autistic intersex trans system, we're diagnosed with DID, and it's been so hard explaining to people all of the abuse that caused our DID because so many people don't understand what secure attachment styles are or how insecure attachment styles in parenting counts as abuse. Likewise, so many people seem to still be holding on to derisive and harmful ideas about how autistic people are less human or less sensitive or less needing of love and compassion (which I think is a result of their not recognizing our style of expression), and I've had many people rationalize emotionally neglecting and abusing autistic children, even outside of the ABA abuse cases.

    So so so so so true. Instagram comment sections give me so much brain poison when i see singlets raid and spew misinformation to interrogate some poor system on their validity. I see them say such ridiculous things like "You get one alter per traumatic event" like that makes any sense at all and then out here demanding to see systems medical history "just to make sure they arent faking it" like and i see them do that to minors!?!? Like STOPPPP interrogating systems in their validity!!! Who cares if they're "faking it" if they arent spreading misinformation, making lots of money off the disorder, or actively harming people and blaming it. Like just ugh, fake claiming is so euuughhhhh

    not done with the video yet but damn im SO glad to see this!! I've tried to explain this to people when they talk about how all these people with DID online Must Be Faking and i just really could never agree with that. It seems like people both don't understand that childhood trauma is way more common than they think, and that even if someone is wrong and they don't have DID that their confusion is very well most likely genuine, as the average person can't really understand the feeling of not having a 'solid identity'. I think they see someone autistic and possibly queer or trans as well and just want to assume malice... youre saying a lot of things I really agree with and i feel like my thoughts on this are less insane now LOL. im not a system, but systems will always have my support!!!

      @wurmz666 День назад

      at this point im just liveblogging the video LOL but yes thank you for bringing up how learned people-pleasing can lead to abuse in so many ways! when you learn that the only way to be valued socially is by dedicating yourself to just doing what other people want all of the time, that's just SO dangerous, both internally and externally in terms of being generally a vulnerable person

      VERY GOOD VIDEO overall absolutely! you "cooked" as the saying goes. I appreciate the use of sources as well, even if none of them are specific to this topic because there are NO sources specific to this topic. I appreciate the mentions of alexithymia and depersonalization/derealization as well. How is your identity going to form 'correctly' if everyone else's descriptions of what life feels like/what it means to be human are innately different from how you experience life? How do they expect you to care about their narrative of a correct identity??? very frustrating!

  • @thewatcher7823
    @thewatcher7823 День назад

    It's entirely possible to be aware of something while suffering it, especially when there's not much that can be done about it. At least, it can be there's nothing a person knows they can do about it, or it's a case of choosing the battles, so to speak. With any problem it can be like a puzzle. Some have no pieces in place, some have a lot but not the full picture yet, and it's anyone's guess if there's a person on the planet with the puzzle completed.

    I appreciated this video, though it was quite emotionally confronting, and it provoked a lot of thoughts pertaining to my own memories and experience. (I am not a system but the video is relatable in most other ways.) Unfortunately I don't have the spoons to share my reflections, and I have a busy week ahead of me, and a RUclips comment isn't the appropriate place for most of them anyway. I feel like you don't understand that some people want bad things to happen to them. Often they're young and people say they have no reason to feel sad or that they're overdramatic, but meanwhile they see people with mental illness, grave physicall illnesses, or even both, being told that it's okay to rest, they aren't lazy, they can do it, they are really strong for surviving trauma, and just generally being supported or supporting others. So they start to wish they were having problems and pain like SH, headaches, nosebleeds, did, amnesias, even EDs, etc. Because they think they don't deserve help if they don't have these. I'm not saying it's good, but a lot of people just look at this type of thing like " that's so stupid, why would they want a headache, a headach hurts" not understanding why some people would like to hurt.

    One asshole doctor told me that I was using DID as an excuse to manipulate and control my mother. In reality some of my protectors were just fed up with her emotional and verbal abuse. Also when he told me that, the ONLY person he actually talked to was my mom, he didn't even talk to me about it, he found a conclusion and just ran with it. And what doesn't even make sense is that I could just manipulate and control my mother in other ways, like why the hell would I need to use DID as an excuse to be manipulative and abusive when I could simply just be manipulative and abusive.
