Thank you, Nadia! I've filmed a couple of the repottings (Lc., D. Berry, Neo. falcata ...) and will upload them bit by bit. Orchid swaps for the win! :D Have a very nice weekend! :)
Hi Bumblebee! 🤗🤗repots….I still have a few to do that I keep putting off. I want to see how you repot the Neofinetia and the Rhync. Bangkok sunset. Looking forward to part 2. Have a great weekend. 🌸🌺❤️
Hi Sue, I keep putting off quite a few, too. I have repotted the Lc., D. Berry, Neofinetia and Bangkok Sunset and have filmed everything so that I don't loose my courage. :D Have a great weekend, too! :)
@Bumblebee's Orchids Your bark quality must be really good, if you are able to leave orchids in their pots for up to 8 years. What type are you using please?
@@suethompson6497 I've been using Roellke Orchi-Bark Premium 2 for the last couple of years. But back then I used any bark that seemed stable and firm with smooth surfaces.
@Bumblebee's Orchids The media thing is interesting isn’t it? We learn that due to quality & breaking down of media, change of PH levels in the pots, repot every 2 or three years but in your case you went years without doing this. I just repotted a large cattleya noid that had been in the nursery media that it was sold in for the last five years, the roots weren’t brilliant but ok and the pseudo bulbs count now is 15 and all healthy. For the first three years of its life, I only gave it tap water and house plant feed, not the right light or warmth. But it thrived. Orchids eh😂 a mystery.
It's nice to see that out there are people having the same problems as mine while growing their orchids. And I love to watch Your orchids, their growth habit and beauty. Each one is unique, just as mine ones. Good luck during the repottings and I'm looking forward seeing Your next video! :)
Thank you very much. Each one is important to me, I guess that's one of the reasons why I get so nervous when repotting them is on the agenda. :D Have a very nice Sunday!
Hi Julia, thank you! I have repotted the Lc., D. Berry, Neofinetia and Bangkok Sunset and have filmed everything so that I wouldn't loose my courage. :D Have a great weekend! :)
Looking forward to watching the repots! (Especially the Neo.) Your videos are so reassuring and calming. I am very new to vandas and of course hoping to get mine on a similar lazy watering schedule.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Adrienne! :) I am going to post a new video today and the Neo video is on its way, too. Good luck with establishing a your lazy watering schedule. :D Happy growing!
Lots of projects coming up for you ... so good to see the vigor though. I have 3 large repots,to do, which I am also putting off 😒 if you were to film a repot, then I would be watching, for sure! Have a beautiful Saturday 🐝💞
Thank you! :) I have repotted (and filmed) my Neo, Lc., D. Berry, Rhynchorides Bangkok Sunset and am postponing Bc. Yellow Bird and Lc. Rojo. :D Good luck with your repots and have a beautiful Saturday! :)
I do hope you share some of the repots with us. Quite an undertaking on a few of them! I grow the majority of my orchids now in LECA in self watering. So far, so good, I have lost a few but its so much easier for me watering wise and repotting wise. Good Luck!! :)
Thank you, Wanda. I've filmed a couple of the repottings and will upload them bit by bit. Great you find a setup that you enjoy. :) Have a very nice weekend!
Looking good! Lovely, big plants. I usually repot when necessary only, I've never really reached a point where the bark would be decomposed or needed changing, but, more, the plant has old dead roots and it overgrowing the pot severely. Hmmm I'd love to see repotting for Neo, Yellow bird, Rojo and dendrobium, those seem like they'll be a challenge.
Hi Rian! :) I've filmed a few of the repottings (Neofinetia, D. Berry - still postponing Yellow Bird an Rojo, though) and will upload them bit by bit. Have a very nice weekend!
I just placed an order for new Orchiata bark and can’t wait to dive into the pots. 2 years is long for me to go without repotting. I hope you still have a white carpet after this. 😳💞
Definite need for repotting all of those beauties. I don't enjoy repotting and put it off as long as possible because I'm always afraid of injuring my orchids. Also I have found some of my cattleyas completely lost their roots and had to regrow them after a repot. 😨I would love to see a repot video, particularly one where you're planning on dividing your orchid. Or it has a plethora of roots how you fit them all into the new pot, if you upgrade the pot size to a larger one or just replace the media? Thanks for the share always good to see what you're up to! 🌸
That's the main reason why I postpone repotting them: I know most of them will be set back for a while and cannot stand the look of them suffering before they establish themselves again. :/ I've filmed a couple of the repottings (Lc., D. Berry, Neo. falcata ...) and will upload them bit by bit. Have a very nice weekend! :)
Good morning, Well you have alot of work to do, would not want to be in your shoes!!, LOL Anyway i dont let them go that far , I usually repot long befor they need it actually, I pamper them too much, my sister who also grows orchid but in Montreal Canada, said that an orchids vendor told that orchids are like cats , so when ignored they t hey ask for attention and do better and if you pamper them they ignore you, . I thought this was funny, anyway would love to see some actual repots. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
Haha, I like the comparison with cats. So true! :D I've filmed a couple of the repottings (Lc., D. Berry, Neo. falcata ...) and will upload them bit by bit. Have a very nice weekend! :)
I love repotting, what exactly do you not like about it? The feeling on your hands, the mess in the house, the change of something that’s been one way for a long while. I’m just curious.
Hi Michelle! :) I actually do like a few things about repotting. I don't mind the feeling on my hands. Once I bring myself to finally start repotting I actually like to take my time for the fiddly process of cleaning the roots. I dislike the sound and smell of healthy roots that I damage in the process. I dislike the mess in the house, especially wet hands and dirt in the sink. I don't like to throw away medium that could have lasted another couple of years. But what I dislike most is not knowing if the plants will be set back when they have been doing well for many years and I don't know yet if it was the right decision to repot or not. As soon als new roots or new growths are appearing I start to relax. Now you made me curious, too. What do you love about repotting?
@@bumblebeesorchids3408 I’m a very tactile person. And very visual learner. So I love to see through clear pots. I love the feel of Leca beads, I loved the feel of the bark and pumice. And I dislike the darkness of wet old bark media. I love the feeling of water pouring, and hearing it splash in my catch watering bucket, so I’m an over water by nature. I keep lots of fans in my grow room so it dries out quicker and I can water sooner. Lol we are all so different. And while we are on to confessions, I broke my no coffee for a week fast, three times in this week. Lol I was trying to see if coffee was one of my migraine triggers. I don’t think it is. But I’ll never know because like I said, I’m drinking coffee as I type. Have a great day.
Thanks for sharing! I repot when the roots in the pots have an issue, when the plant stuggles for a long time, or when the plant has no space anymore. Like yours. For me it's allways difficult to get them out of the pot without damaging the roots. I try my very best. My cattleyas often loose their older roots after repotting. Does anyone know why?
That’s how I do it, too. My large Rlc. Klaus Dengler lost a bunch of roots that I barely touched when uppotting it, but I don’t know why that is. They seem to last longest when not beeing disturbed at all.
Nice video, looking forward for your Operation Repot

Thank you for the new video. Can't wait to see the reppoting. Just reppot, separate and make some of your orchid friends happy with the new cuttings.

I don't mind repotting but I only repot when needed, I like to watch the roots and their progress to make me feel comfortable 😏
When roots are starting to appear I start to feel comfortable again. :) Have a very nice Sunday evening, Fernanda!
Beautiful orchids, can't wait to see the repot! :D
