    People love to oversimplify. ASMR isn't "about" anything, it's a psychophysical response that feels good. What you do with that feeling, what you associate with it, and how you give it meaning to yourself is a whole different matter. It's like food. What is food or eating "about"? is food "sexual" because people will incorporate food or eating into their sexual activities? Of course not. For some people, ASMR (or certain sexual activities, like cuddling/spooning) is associated with relaxation or sleeping, for others it is associated with sexual arousal or emotional intimacy, while for others it's just a nice way to zone out and do other things which require concentration or relaxation.

      Honestly i dont generally like ASMR, but the hate surrounding it is odd because there are other versions that would appeal to them. For example i like the sounds of mechanical keyboards and thunderstorms. I just cant stand voices

    • @davidonfim2381
      @davidonfim2381 4 года назад +4

      @@joseph2000117 yeah, I agree. It's also very mood-dependent, like music. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a particular type of asmr or music, but other times it irritates the crap out of me. People just need to stop being so damn judgemental and just chill when it comes to other people's preferences.

Japanese asmr is my fave when done genuinely and without food.

    @fransoto8343 4 года назад +5

    Remember, asmr is the response, the tingles.
    It's like laughing.
    The asmr videos are those that try to get people to get those tingles and also help people relax even if they don't get the tingles.
    Just like funny videos, they try to make people laugh but also "help" people get in a "funny" mood even if they don't laugh.
    There are many ways to get the tingles or relax and each person has their own preference, even pornography may influence some to get the tingles easier, separately from the sexual arousal.
    The same way there are asmr with funny bits in them. Maybe laughing or feeling that fun mood helps people relax easier, get more confortable with the video or get tingles easier.
    Again, asmr is not about whispering or ear licking, it is any way imaginable to get someone to feel the tingles or relax. It could even be the sound of someone farting that gives somebody the tingles and it would give them asmr. Does that make all asmr videos weird farting videos?
    Same way: someone laughs at somebody farting in a video, does that make every funny video be about farting?

    Well done! Your research and interviews were very informative and entertaining. And it was worth the wait.
    ASMR is very odd, but my personal belief is that it has something to do with with childhood and being safe.
    My ASMR triggers are rain on a tin roof, whistling wind, the sounds of paper folding, certain people eating, the sounds of knitting, distant birds singing, quiet cooking and crafting sounds.
    These were the sounds of my family home ( Ma knitting, Dad reading the newspaper etc) Reassuring sounds that I heard before I had cognitive thought.
    I think I subconsciously associate these noises with being safe, comfortable and content.
    Deliberate sound such as
    Role play, tapping, sexual mouth sounds, scripted scenarios etc make me actually nauseous and I had an extremely hard time watching some parts of the video. Gotta love the mute button.
    There had only been one RUclips channel that I really enjoyed but tragically the ASMR presenter died from pancreatic cancer. She had a naturalness about her that was calming and I still listen to her cooking, crafting, eating and whispering videos. She rarely showed her face unlike 99% of ASMR "stars"; her videos were about the ASMR not the personality.

    I’ve used ASMR to sleep for the past 6 years. I’ve had issues with insomnia for decades and owe ASMR the credit for helping me fall asleep. I can’t do eating or anything with mouth sounds, but draw a map or talk about random facts, and I’m out. Goodnight Moon is a great one, same with ASMRrtica ASMR.

    I was basically ready to marry you, until you bit into that banana. 😂
    Eating sounds don’t work for me and ‚mouth sounds‘ make downright aggressive.
    But the rest was wonderful. Sighs. It’s so weird. The right sounds really have the same effect as physical touch on me.
    Edit: ok, that’s not quite true. I do not like human eating sounds, but I love listening to animals eating. There’s this channel ‚OneMorePlease‘, that’s mostly a rabbit eating different stuff and I loooove listening to that.
