1990 Road Atlanta SCCA Race Trucks and Super Vee

If all you want to see is the (watercooled) SV race, scroll to about 34min or so. Otherwise, here's the damn trucks. Honestly, so many familiar names in both series from "back in the day" should make an older Club member get pretty stoked. Oh, and Baldwin doing the Pete Aron thing before he got that great "Hot Wheels" Trans-Am sponsorship. Long live "Support Races!" Sometimes, they're the most fun of the weekend. :D

I really like this series- showroom stock truck racing. I know it didn’t last because there weren’t enough competitors towards the end. My guess part of the reason was the low prizes for pole ($1000 ain’t much to race) and winning.

The factories did support the series by supporting the teams. Dodge, Ford, Mazda, Toyota, etc. all provided parts, vehicles, etc. A friend worked for Saleen for a few months the first year of the truck series. He was working with Ford engineers during the early test sessions trying to maximize the performance of the Ranger PU's. Once the factories dropped their support the series died.

I was at this truck race! We would throw the spare tires, jack and tools in the pickup bed going from paddock to the pits.

Randall, IIRC it was T/A weekend. IMSA was GTO & U and maybe a Firehawk. I tried to research it, but since Google's search engine is broken, I can't find any details.
