  • In this video we investigate why the STOP START is not working on Kate's Land Rover Discovery Sport. With no fault codes or error messages and a good battery we decide to change the BMC. You can change the BCM without any coding and this fixed our problem ! The PN for this module ( latest version ) is LR038721. We do stock these on our website also :-

Top tip. Keep the plastic battery terminal covers when you get a new battery instead of binning them and you can put them on the terminal if you need to take the leads off. Safer than a rag that may fall off.

Best thing is for Start/Stop stay permanently off. Horrible marketing induced feature.

  • @nicknicolaou8512

Mine never worked from new, but I never wanted it to work anyway .Replaced the battery after 8 years and reset the BMS. Now it does work I wish I could switch it off permanently again 😞

  • @kear3922

Will it be fine to just remove/leave off? First thing I do when I start my car is switch it off, I would leave it broken, save the wear and tear on the starter motor & battery.

start-stop is a very bad idea. Wife's 2021 House Honda Pilot start/stop system recalled- first try was a system reboot and that failed- so Honda used $1,400 worth of parts to fix it. If I have to drive it I always push the botton to over ride the system.

can the bms cause the car not to start all the lights everything works but it will not crank

  • @biz4twobiz463

Nice video. My only recommendation would have been to charge your battery while you were at it. Something like a CTEK MUS-4-3-charger or similar to your area works great!! Merci

I've got start/stop on my VW and I switch it off every time. I cannot see how it can possibly save fuel and even if it does I'm sure the additional cost of a replacement start/stop battery (it's a lot more expensive) would negate any saving in fuel.

My start stop stoped working after 3 years the dealer changed the voltage control module under warranty and charged my battery worked for a couple of weeks I left my car at Southampton for 12 day drove home and the stop start did not work Went to the dealer and they fitted a new battery all now well after two weeks. Seems if battery is a bit weak it will not charge up to is fullest

Will Land Rover ever sort its battery issues, every landie I’ve ever owned has had a plethora of issues, seems the new ones are no different

  • @neilseymour2873

Brilliant, had the same issue on mine. Bought and fitted this and now stop start working perfectly. Thanks Simon, more videos on Discovery Sport please👍

  • @jeffjames27

Excellent, my start/stop actually works now. I bought this off your site, it will pay for itself in a couple of months with the fuel I'll save. Thanks.

  • @guvnorrbm

Followed this video, and fixed my Start / Stop issues instantly- Thanks!

  • @marklivsey1661

Thank you so much for your video it's very, clear and easy to follow I changed the BCM and my auto stop/start is working I was about to spend £200 on a new battery.

  • @Will-ge5mq

I had both ek151 small and main battery replaced last week for my 2015 2.2 evoque .

  • @petermorris3665

I'm glad you mentioned the potential, on some vehicles, for a separate stop / start battery. I'm pretty sure my misses' 2015 MY Evoque has the separate stop / start battery.

  • @andrewjones8397

Changed mine yesterday, Done the trick. Cheers Mate

  • @TheWackyRacer

A well known breakdown service popped my BMS when they jump started me and did so from both battery terminals. It cost them not me 👍

Simon…my Stop Start has rarely ever worked on mine since new and I am pleased for it to stay like that…I hate the stress of one second cycles and understand it puts a load on the timing chain to shorten its life. I have noticed that it will work in random spurts every so often but was told that failing to work is usually a sign of the battery getting old and tired. Certainly a new battery brings it too life but on my car, not for long. As I type, my friend has this fault on his Discovery but the battery is certainly three years and 60,000+ miles old. Maybe his BMS is dying because his has become very random….for me though…not working is perfect! 😃😃😃Richard.

Hello, your videos are great thank you. Would you have any info with respect to backup camera replacement and reconfiguration of back up boarders for a 2016 Discovery Sport, regards.
